Needless to say the checks will be in bank tomorrow afternoon.
And I will double check the air in the tires for him. After that, my job is to wave.

Meet him at his bank and have the check made out to you. That way you know it's a real check, and the bank won't write it if he doesn't have sufficient funds to cover it. Otherwise, he's got your trailer and there's a chance you've got a worthless piece of paper...
Yup

just about had a heart attack when buyer now sends me a bill of sale, a template he had..., which would have given him a 7 day free look with him driving off with the trailer.
Oh no, no no no. After a brief discussion of contract law, we agreed he would just bring me all the money and then I would sign the title and the deal was done. No 7 day anything, as is where is. He can bring a mechanic in if he wants but once I sign that title it's his rv.

this is where coming from a family of contract lawyers really helps.
ok, now off to plant some trees
So he tried to get a 7 day "test drive"?
And now is he going to bring you all the money or just a check that might or might not clear?
I agree with RNG, get the certified bank check at his bank or a money order.

How did your tax amount compare to last yr? Gettting less back means you just didn't loan the govt as much.

I havent done my taxes, are the new deduction changes in effect for 2017 taxes? I thought they just went in effect for next yrs 2018 calculations.
Just confirmed with turbotax, Nothing major changed tax wise for 2017 taxes. So you either made more money, had less deductions, or had less taxes withheld.

I used TurboTax and have used it for a lot of years. This year, I got about the same refund as I've gotten in the past. However, the amount of withholding that the pension system holds out of my pension each month came down this year (January 2018), even though I have not changed anything and the amount of the pension has not changed. So I'm guessing they expect the income tax to be a little bit less this year.

We had an unexpected tax liability (long term gains) from a "taxable merger" when a company we had stock in spun off part of their business. We ended up with stock in another company with a new cost basis. If we sold the new stock, there would be very little gain. We will likely owe some tax rather than a small refund.

came in for lunch, planted 9 nut trees, nice to have the nut orchard once again full of live trees.
Had to dig the dead tree tap root out of most of them. Lot of exercise and very windy out.
Threatening I think is the word. Dark clouds. Need to go put the Super A under the shed and get a can for the muffler top.

will it run better with a genuine Campbell's soup can?

I think I'm calling it a day. Have watered the remaining tree roots and if it rains on them, can't ask for me. During breaks of rain over the next few days I'll get the rest planted. Some I realize I have to put the phd back on for, forgot about that. Need to do some landscaping with three redbuds and three dogwoods and those would be all new holes. The phd does such a good job of also making a water retention ring that I try to use that when I can.

30 currently. Was 32 this morning it’s been to 28 today also. Rain has stopped now just wet.

Boys tubes went good. Wife had 2 teeth cut out today and that also went good. She’s resting and you don’t even know boy had anything done yesterday. We got to doctors office this morning just as everything was freezing up. Lots of black ice and wrecks this morning. Ended up with road closures for about an hour until salt trucks could do their thing. Basically salting bridges.
Schools closed here but county that surgery was in and all the wrecks and road closures had school. Our district is gun shy I think. And fine by me. Already had one bus end up in ditch on its side this year. Some minor injuries to students.
Headed to walk birds and check cows. Might have to put out hay today.
Off road diesel fuel was $2.29 yesterday. Bulk delivered.

the guy's check was fine, my branch mgr called their branch mgr and confirmed legitimate bank check that would be a "next day deposit".
All good. Turns out the guy is a helicopter pilot too and he showed me his tool kit in his truck that dwarfed mine. All good...

Rain is really threatening, quite a system coming through. Hard work, hard finance, time for a nap...;)

22 here, off and on sun today. Got a couple more inches of snow last night, plowed out everything here, then went to the shop to snowblower and shovel that place. Really a bit tired, the wife is going out for carry out Chinese for dinner. I like the veggies and brown rice, and of course, egg rolls. We are watching dogs for a friend of ours, and a neighbor came by, her mother is sick, so we are caring for that little guy too. 4 dogs in the house is a lot.

I spent about 4-5 hours building my own sleeve hitch adapter out of the many ball mounts and old sleeve hitches I have around. Only company making 2” reciever style adapter wants $59+ $8 shipping. I built mine with $75 worth of parts and 4 hours labor! What a savings! But I had fun, first welding since summer. I have all these sleeve hitch attachments and they’re the perfect size for my property. No laughing at the welding!

I have generator ready. Calling for 40mph winds with all this ice. Power went off but came back.
And a barn fire near me.

Another possibility is a front loader plow for the tractor...to keep it in budget, it would have to be manual angling though.

Roy I priced a Boss for my John Deere it was about 3200 but that was with fabricating a plate for the Quick Connect of the loader and hooking into the 3rd valve to angle

toppop,
I learned long ago that if one cannot do a better job than the other, do NOT criticize, ridicule or laugh at whatever it is they accomplished. You do weld better than me.
