23! I was not ready for that. Going to 50 today. Got my flagpole repaired and back up just in time to let it down ahead of this storm. Did the lattice underpinning on my new building. Did all the shutters to match on the weekend. I think I’m about finished with it for now. Now I have to decide what goes where and clean up the poor nasty garage.
Storm looks like rain and 40 mph gusts, that’s a lot better than the last one.

Good morning all, 33 going to 40 with a 60% chance of a wintery mix.

Drew, the old people in central Va used to cook butter beans/lima beans, the big ones were limas, with a big glob of bacon grease, a good amount of sugar and then cook them slow all day. They were very good.

Someone said they like fresh peas not canned, peas should be frozen, never canned. :2cents:

My grand mother used to raise yellow english peas, only used them to make pea soup. Mom said she never got used to the idea of yellow pea soup.

There is a guy in our area, Joel Salatin that raises chickens on pasture for meat and has a big wagon chicken house for layers. We have his book, Pastured poultry Profits, Great book if you are thinking about chickens. This guy is the Guru of back to the land chickens and raises chickens in a big way.

Prayers for those in need, have a great day. Ed

txdon;
a link for you. This is who I get mine from.
Batchelors Dried Bigga Marrowfat Peas - 25g - A Bit of Home (Canada)

25g is about an ounce of peas, but don't be fooled by the weight to volume. One box will make a real 'good' serving of peas for the average person that would use them as a small part of a meal along with potatoes and what have you.

Thanks for the link. Minimum order is $30 so I check out Amazon dot com and they have the same box. I'll put it as an add on on my next order to get free shipping.

We raised chickens for a few years. No need for a compost pile. Just throw all the vegetable garbage in chicken yard. Gone in no time. Even put egg shells in there. When we visited Wroughtharv last spring. He gave us a dozen eggs from the farm. As a treat for the chickens he gave them Mini Marshmallows. They would come from everywhere to get them.

I'm with you Kyle love Lima beans and fresh corn

Me, too! And if the fresh ones are not available, canned ones will do.

And I never even heard of the kind of peas some of you have been talking about; Marrowfat?

txdon, Does amazon.com sell food? I was just there and couldn't find any food.
In the USA you can order a lot of food items. Plus they own Whole Foods. Which will deliver your groceries to your home if you live close enough to a store location. We have ordered some canned and boxed items from Amazon Pantry with good prices and delivery. Like the heavy duty boxes they ship Pantry items in.

So chickens eating junk food does that eliminate them from the prestigious tittle of free range or does free range only refer to the size of their cage or yard?
