My quote is 2900 below msrp.
I dont buy any extended anythings.

Hyundai dealer says, dont you want the extended warrantee in case it breaks down? My response, if it's that bad, maybe i shouldn't buy it...

Either that or I tell them if it’s gonna break it better be during original warranty.

As a kid my parents planted at least a acre of Vegetables. They were canned along with the fruit tree crops. When freezers became available the crops were both canned and frozen. When we moved here in 72 we put in a garden. Lots of frozen vegetables and canned tomato sauce. Would like to still be doing that. But do no think we are up to the task. Plus to easy to go down to the corner and buy fresh good from the local farmer stand.

Usta be any six year old worth his salt would give his eye teeth for his own axe. Now any parent in the US that gave an axe to that same six year old would be brought up on charges and the kid taken away by Child Protective Services. I'm starting to see why you choose to live where you do!

Reading the Amazon reviews for the Smart Splitter, I found it really interesting to read grown men who bought it for themselves because it is safer than using an axe or maul. And the US price for it is $150. I learned as a kid that you stand with your legs apart while splitting wood so if you slip you don't hit your legs. 8 winters of living over here and having to split wood not just for fun and I haven't injured myself swinging an axe. The device was a steal at 19€, but really just suitable for those who lack the strength to swing an axe-- like my 6 and 4 year old. Maybe also I can put my wife out there on splitting duty, should be safe enough for pregnant women.

There's a saying that Slovakia is 20 years behind the US. In some things, maybe even further behind. In one of the national parks, Slovak Paradise / Slovensky Raj, there are some hiking trails where you climb up a metal ladder over a water fall, and walk a narrow path along a cliff with just a chain to hold on to. I'm trying to think back, having been in a lot of US national parks, and those areas that are improved by the park or forest service tend to be these huge metal construction stairwells with railings all over. This short youtube video gives a nice overview: Slovenský raj / Slovak Paradise / S?owacki Raj - YouTube

Another thing people do here, and in Czechia, even in Prague, is that they let their not yet even teenage children ride public transit alone. I was pretty shocked 9 years ago, when staying with friends in Prague, and their 11 year old daughter took me to the church I wanted to go to on Sunday, and after the service, she just went back home on her own-- subway ride, tram ride, then bus ride.

I need to go shopping with my son for a hatchet. The thing my wife bought-- well, it doesn't work for him for splitting, and it doesn't really work for me either! Too heavy for him, to short a handle for me, and can't return it, at least it was just 9€.

Hyundai dealer FINALLY got back with a price on tucson SE. $9 less than further away dealer.

Subaru Forester 2.5i with alloy wheels about $100 less, the premium with heat seat is $2000 more. Tucson has tinted windows, no heated seats.

We have all of those predators around us. I've seen some owls recently that are positively huge. Foxes and coyotes will probably be our biggest worries. We know we have 'yotes visiting the barn on occasion, as I've seen the tracks in and around. We were kind of OK with it for awhile, because they seemed to be helping with the groundhog issue. Now, we're going to have to warn them off. I told The Wife we might need to set up a sniper's nest in the sunroom. Her cousin lives across the lake from us, and lost about a dozen chickens a couple years ago to a persistent fox.

Run several electric fence wires around the chickens pen. They won't come back for more. Ed

I agree. We live in the namby pamby PC state of MA.

Wonder what will happen if hard times come, real hard times. I took over the family farm when I was 10 when my dad got very sick from a drug that the dr's gave him. He never really was able to work again. At 10 we had 64 cows, two bulls and the calves. At 12 we had 102 cows, bulls and calves. What if I was not able to work before that happened. We would have been in a hard spot. Ed
