Good morning!!!!

good morning all.
Belt and suspenders, backup when assumed safety fails
But I still put a jack stand under it for protection.

Me too, one on each side. PITA to work around but living alone, the idea of getting stuck squashed under a mower for days on end
makes me extra careful.

Unless someone can float in mid air have no idea how to change center blade without getting into harm's way; like Rick I use my
FEL also. I use a seriously oversized steel chain that could probably pick up two of my tractors but I'm a real believer in Dirty Harry.
And I'm not feeling lucky...so the jackstands go in. For me it's like putting on a seatbelt. Now doubling up on the straps is a great idea but
what if something else fails? Some unloader valve and it all gets unloaded on you...

We learned our lesson here. It really can happen to us.
Almost all of us do this same thing, sometimes repeatedly through the summer.
Like others, I like really sharp blades. They even sound different, like lettuce cut by a sharp kitchen knife.
Little higher pitch, would a duller blade create a lower harmonic? (wouldn't spend too much time on that one...)

rain showers overnight, about a third of an inch, more coming in at lunchtime. Wet period ahead. Sure wish I could send
this over NM and Texas. But as the world spins that would be going backwards and well then we would have some other problems.

sure glad I got the lawn mowing done yesterday. I try not to mow on Sunday but didn't have a choice with weather outlook.
Guy who does my weedeating never showed last week, running behind, so much rain not only makes lawn go nuts but then lot of folks don't want you
mowing their lawn when it's wet, particularly if the grass is thick. I'm the guy's largest single account and somehow I wind up last. Hmmmmmmm.
Plus he hasn't billed me in two months. Just overloaded, took on too many lawns for a p/t job.
But I'm cutting him some slack since when I asked him to make the place look extra nice for the Garden Club ladies, he really did.

I'm headed out to pick peas and then take down the bushes, looking very ratty and moldy. Then green beans need picking.
And the lettuce is bolting so it's all getting cut today.
Maybe another dozen onions, and then it all gets boxed and taken downtown to the food pantry.

you all have a great day and be safe.

We got .44 of rain last night, still raining lightly, day long event they say. Very near here got 2”+.
Just came in from feeding the livestock (3 cats and 4 kittens), quite chilly for mid June.
Back to normal tomorrow.
Daughter says grandson is acting normal other than slight cough.
Hope to hear update on Ellen’s mom today.

On my old Simplicity ZTR I used 10,000 pound strap and safety chain lifted it with heavy come a long. I jacked it to where I wanted it then put the chain on at that level. After the blades were back on I raised it a click and removed the chain. Then let it down.

I’ve lived in a high rise, 100 acres, and a retirement community. There are pluses and minuses in each. The ideal living would be to combine the fortress atmosphere of the high rise, the spaciousness of the 100 acres, and the convinces and entertainment of the retirement community - that would be called a castle with grounds and jesters. The kings long ago had this figured out.

I also use a pneumatic impact wrench which really speeds up blade changes.

NWS says it's now 79 degrees going for a high of 95 and the humidity is 74%. But it was still 82 degrees when I started mowing the yard at 5 a.m. -------love those headlights on the EGO lawn mower. It took me an hour to mow each yard; ours with the bagger and headlights, and the next door yard with the side discharge, then a half hour to do a little string trimming and edging on both yards. And in spite of no sunshine, I wound up dripping wet with sweat. Old age gets worse all the time.

Good morning to all! Nice and cool this morning, low of 52. Still going up to 92. Humidity very low at 10%.
The weather guessers are now giving us a 20-30% chance of showers starting Thursday....we'll see...

The '416' fire north of Durango doubled in size in the last 24 hrs, now over 16,800 acres. No word when son and DIL can go back home. Still no structures lost...firefighters concentrating on property protection vs suppression. God bless all of them!

Today's agenda: get another load of mulch, stop at WallyWorld for a few items, then just putter around a bit. Back to work tomorrow for 4 days.

You guys be safe when working under equipment....you would be surprised if you knew the amount of calls we get for people injured / killed working under stuff without proper support. Complacency is your enemy.

Prayers out this morning for everyone, stay safe, enjoy the day!

It was a little cool this morning 31*, we had a cold front come through yesterday. Today is going to be back up to the mid 70's with sunny skies and some wind.

My wife had her surgery last week. It was 11 day's after she broke her shoulder, the surgery went well. But ended up spending 12 hrs at the hospital. They didn't release her until 10 pm, that made it a long day. She is doing good but still has a lot of pain. We go back for a check up next week.

I'm going to try and get things done around here in between taking care of her.

I see everyone has been keeping busy and getting better. Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts.

Hope everyone has a good start to the week.
CWB.

Was in 50s this morning, now 60°. More rain overnight and more rain today.

Need to sharpen my mower blades. I have a lift from tsc, that has a safety catch.

Wow, 6 posts since i started typing mine.

Another very nice morning.. gusts of wind intermittently... Took one wheel off of travel trailer Friday night and measured grease seal so we can get new seals before taking anything else apart. Research resulted in finding it at etrailer.com and spent several hours driving around Saturday to see if we could find them locally. The places that likely had them in stock were all closed on the weekend... We came home and I ordered them online. They'll be here Thursday in time for me to repack bearings next weekend.

Stay safe all

70°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 90° today. Chance for some storms later this evening.

Got the blades sharpened on the zeroturn Saturday morning for The Wife to mow at least part of the yard. We have an overhead I-beam crane near the door in the barn that I use to lift the mowers for blade work. I use a heavy duty tow strap around the front of the frame, and always put a pair of jack stands under them.

Wife got about half of the yard cut, and I'd made two passes around the perimeter of the pasture, when nature decided we were done for the day. Heavy storms rolled through the area with lots of lightning and wind, and the rain lasted through most of the day. We went inside and watched a couple of movies.

Back at it Sunday. Got the rest of the pasture cut (first time this year, and it was three feet tall) in the morning while The Wife finished the yard. After lunch, I spread the rock & lime that arrived last week over the remainder of the upper driveway. At least Sunday was semi-productive.

Hope you guys on the mend are doing well.

Claye, hope your wife heals quickly.
And make sure not to mix the whites with the darks in the washer!

Gardening club lady showed up to help, mostly to pick, sent her home with a ton of stuff, said she can't wait to bring
her husband back. I got her really hooked on my blackberries.
I had some in my fridge and gave her a nice cold one and we laughed when our reaction was the same.
Better than ***...:D

dark out and looks like it's going to pour, but nothing on radar.
Changed all my clothes out, sopping wet, now back out to grease some mowers.

the very best part of this morning was I confirmed I actually have some corn growing. Pulled two small
ears and they were fully formed white and yellow kernels inside, probably a mutt from my white corn and yellow corn
cross pollinating. I gave the first two tiny ears to my helper, but now I know I have to be on the hunt.

Good morning. Warm and dry for the next couple days down here.
Spent the weekend in Austin to celebrate my cousin's birthday. She has terminal cancer and we made a big deal of the birthday celebration to cheer her up. Seeing her smiles made the 10 hrs round trip drive worth while.

67°F and .06 inches rain

Time to cash in the recycles, refill a propane, get some gas for the mowers.

Prayers for all

Be safe
Have a great day

Went thru Durango this time last yr. Rode the train there in 2007.

There's talk that this fire was started by the train throwing out an ember....no confirmation though. They shut down the train now until at least August. Loss of a tremendous tourist revenue for the area.

Load of clothes in the wash, chowing down a ham and turkey sandwich with my first local tomato on it, that plastic sure gets them a head start. Finished last week’s redskins, too. Cloudy and sprinkles with east wind blowing stiff. Made it up to 63 with exactly .5 inches of rain since midnight. Almost 2” since yesterday and around 4 since Saturday here, nearby communities got up to 5” yesterday alone.
