97, feels like 116. Ugh
Happy to stay inside after long day outside. Mowing and rototilling in this heat was not quite the Nestea Plunge...
never got the pumpkins planted, will do that in the cool of the morning.

Drew, working like you do, everyday, in the heat, should help you break the 175# mark.... Perhaps, but honestly the only time I'll hit that weight is about 60 days after I'm planted for good. I'd be real happy with 200 pounds. Always wanted to be a little fat and very happy. Pretty much how it's worked out...;)

Tail is dragging mightily. Heated up some coffee, couple of cups of that will provide some motivation.
It's Saturday Night! :cool2:

Snore

:confused3:

95 with 104 heat index, tomorrow and Monday near 100.
Went to the show, heat wasn’t terrible as it was on the water and the breeze was coming off the Chesapeake Bay.
I got a treat as about 25-30 thunder boats were firing up and heading out, God I miss that!
240 mike round trip, but not a tough day at all.

Good evening all. 80F for the start, almost clear sky, wind 10-15 before sunrise. Sky clouded up this morning, then cleared off early afternoon, wind increased to 20- 28, and high temp was 100F. Bike ride started just after 6, total time just over 9 hours, moving time 6 hours 37 min. Consumed between 1 qt to 1.5 qt per hour on the bike and much more during stops. Did not hit 90F until about 12:15 or 12:30, and at that point was 70 miles into the ride. Overheating became biggest issue, used neck cooler with ice the last 30 miles and heavy on the ice in insulated bottles. you can get wide brims to fit under your helmet, not popular because in wind or fast riding makes your neck work that much harder.
Buppies, Rip, and Jay special prayers, Prayers for all.
PS Buckeye, not really bed time yet :D

Well yesterday I could not even spell machinist and today I are one!! Started My first project on the mill today. Making a big adjustable tool rest for my bench grinder. Cleaned up some saw cuts and cut a couple slots for a bolt to slide in. Simple job, but being my first time running a mill it took a while because I just took my time and enjoyed it. Hope to get finished next week, got to get some bolts and slot the table and make some guides for lathe tooling. Had fun.:cool2: Ron, looks like a great place but I have to buy the cheep or at least cheaper stuff.

Prayers for all, and as Mostly said special prayers for Buppies, Rip and LS. Have a good night. Ed

Lol. Early to bed tonight, mostly has posted. Lol

Congrats on that bike ride. You should come up to MD and ride the C&O canal towpath. 185 miles, pretty much flat and lots of shade. Cumberland to DC. I did it once with the scouts, but only 1/4 each yr.

Good morning. For the last 4 days I've been getting text messages each morning from the water company to apologise for the low water pressure in this area and appealing to it's customers to try and use less water. The sun is again starting to fry us and the news on the radio tells of fires burning out of control on the moorland to the north. All regular occurrences for some of you, I'd have to go back to the summer of '76 for anything quite like this.

We have no A/C in the house, however we are lucky to have 2' thick walls and with some careful opening of windows the ground floor has been kept down to 26C/79F, so it's actually quite pleasant inside. I keep telling myself that I just need a few more days for my body to adjust to this, then I'll be able to get on with all the dry weather jobs that I'm presently not doing outside :ashamed:

Mostly, well done .
I admire your stamina, although I can't quite relate to the pleasure in riding in such high temperatures. I was always a cycling wimp, especially when it came to the "randonneur" events where you would ride all day and all through the night too. The prospect of falling asleep while riding never appealed to me, I must have a missing masochistic gene. :)

69 this morning and been watching a coon in the moonlight under a bird feeder.

Mostly, what a great accomplishment.

Randy, looks and sounds like a nice show, but hope there were some Fords there :) .

Ed, congrats on the first mill production. I know nothing about, so am learning a bit from following you.

Wore myself out in the heat yesterday shoveling the ton of gravel and the sod replacement on one 30 foot section of the French drain was the hardest part. But feel good about getting the job done. I need about a half ton more to complete the top dressing on anther 25 ft section...then some rain to watch it work.

Plan to take it slow and easy today.

Happy July!

Good morning all. First cup of coffee. Walked out to the shop for your obligatory shop pic. IMG_2717.JPGIMG_2718.JPGIMG_2719.JPG

Got the mower blades all sharpened yesterday. Then was drug over to Albany, NY for furniture shopping. The "perfect" pieces weren't found so I fear another trip will come. Sigh...

Took the little one for an ice cream cone yesterday evening. One of the perks of living closer to town. She's such a chatterbox.

Today is mowing day. Move the old fridge out of the kitchen in prep for the new one.

And pack a bag to make another run back to Oklahoma to get the last load hopefully. The realtor sprung on us that the house will close 2 weeks earlier than anticipated so I have to get back there and get it cleared out.

To all, a good day.
