since I haven't left this farm since last December, yes I'm ready to go somewhere...
trip to PA in September, trip to California in October/Nov. Not sure how I'm going to do latter, car, train, plane.
I'll know after the 9 hour drive to PA and back, see if my neck can handle it.

if we could only wind down our lawns...

70 going to 94 today, maybe storms. Rain storms bypassed us yesterday.

Beautiful quilts. Looks like it takes dedicated time and know how. When I went to the gym yesterday, there was about a 12 year old girl sitting in the lobby waiting for her parent and knitting so fast. Wonderful that things like this are passed down to the next generations.

Got a couple of acres mowed yesterday, and then took Coco to the vet for checkup and shots. They had a new, gentler approach...she was given a calming female mammary gland pheromone scarf to wear, all work was done on the floor where Coco stood, rather than up on the table...pieces of cheese were given to me to feed her to help keep her occupied. Vet said they are trying to make dogs "want to come" to the vet.

If I could figure out how to travel only back roads I’m right there with you Drew Interstates bother me anymore. If only we could spend more time in SC for us that would be nice and since I’m wishing a 25 to 30ft boat would be nice for cruising the ICW or off shore fishing. We can dream though

Strong winds are expected to develop on Wednesday, with the strongest
winds expected over and downwind of the higher terrain of the Big
Island.

David, hope your night tonight goes without damage. Maybe a storm party?

Drinking first cup of coffee. 68° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 80° with chance of thunderstorms in afternoon. making tool holder never got finished. I have a 50+ year old pipe threader. Figured I would use it to thread end of pipes that I am using for the tool holders. After 3 hours of cleaning, sharpening and adjusting. Decided that it will go back in the corner for a garage sale. Today's project is continue tool holders.

Like the pictures of Quilts.

Prayers for those need.

Good Morning All.

Good morning! 77˚ before sunrise and heading to 100˚.

When I took Whipper walking yesterday I saw people in their garage trying to reprogram their automatic sprinklers. With the new water restrictions the two days you are allowed to water might not be the two your program is set to. I had already reset mine last week when it took affect. It only took me two days to get it right.

I thought I was in luck last week when my wife broke her toe and I would get out of dancing lessons. Not So. Tonight is the first lesson and I'm under extra pressure not to step on her broke toe.

I'm trying something new every week here in The city of sun. Since there are hundreds of different things to do there is something new each week.

Good Morning!!!! 73F @ 5:15AM. Partly cloudy. Areas of smoke and haze are possible, reducing visibility at times. High near 95F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

The makers of some of those old pipe threaders are still in business, Ron, and replacement cutters might be available. My threaders came from my dad, and they were old when he got them, and even though they still work, I can tell that they're getting dull. So I have a similar bit of research ahead of me...

Got a voicemail from the mechanic yesterday that a bad connector on an O2 sensor was throwing diagnostic codes and had to be replaced, and the smog test has been rescheduled for this week. :confused2:

Finished the carb rebuild yesterday, and not sure what's next. But all I have to do is look up in the shelves to find plenty of boxes of parts that still need to find their way onto the frame...

Happy Hump Day, folks!

I looked at battery guns a few years ago when I got tired of pumping grease. I don't use a grease gun all that often around here since the landscaping was finished, and didn't want yet another battery to worry about going dead on the shelf, or catching fire if left on a charger. Ended up with a Lincoln 1162 Air Operated Grease Gun, which has worked out very well.

And as Newbury mentioned, check out the Lock'n'Lube coupler. Makes a world of difference.
C'mon RNG, proper attribution.

Longer hose and have you considered lock-n-lube Grease coupler?

LockNLube(R) Grease Coupler | LockNLube(R) - LOCKNLUBE

But I thought if it is in a really tight place getting a LNL on and off may be more difficult than a regular coupling.

Maybe some combination of flexible hose AND fixed tube is needed,

Watched a storm in my rear view mirror leaving work yesterday, was in a brief downpour.

Had a light rain come thru in evening. Was going to go to firemans carnival to listen to bluegrass music, but decided not to.

71°F and heavy fog this morning, going up to 89° today. No more rain, but it's definitely humid today.

Progress on the Vanagon is good news, RNG. And, he's calling you with reports now. Maybe there actually is a light at the end of that tunnel that isn't an oncoming train.

wngsprd may have the winner for Coolest Quilt so far. Some fantastic work shared here.

88 feels like 101, you can cut the humidity with a knife. Big light and sound show last night but others got the rain.

I do miss doing things with my wife, Ellen and I have fun and we have some similar interests, but you can’t replace that 43 year connection.

Prayers guys, have a good one.

So far no luck finding replacement parts. I found the whole threader on EBAY. But no new thread dies I am willing to pay for. Mine is the same as the one on EBAY. Except it is not red any more and has a 70k serial number.

Hot days, cool nights, some of my favorite time of year (if only the smoke from the fires were to clear out).. maybe get away a few days this weekend. My wife usually has 5-10 quilts in progress, she seldom finishes before she has another one going. Some take time to find the right fabric to go with what she already has.. when one of our daughters moved back west from Maryland, she was driving mini cooper. She stopped at several fabric stores and the fiesta factory. Between the fabric and dishes, she had a very full car. Her husband laughed when she pulled in with the car so full... turns out my wife had "ordered" some fabrics not available locally, her share of the bill was several hundred dollars.

Each of our daughters got a quilt with the design of their choosing. One daughter selected a design with small squares, over a thousand in king size quilt. I will have to see if I can find some pictures. There are only a few quilts that are decoration, the rest are made to be used and some are more than 30 years old and have been repaired after many years of use.

Prayers sent, sounds like many are on the mend. My right knee had started aching, seemed to be related to getting up and down.. all better now.

Sears due this afternoon to replace steering bushing in mower. Part finally arrived.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

In reality, the thing sat there waiting several weeks for the smog check, when he could have hooked his own code reader up long ago to see if anything was wrong. But that's just the way he does business; everything is last minute and a big surprise, and is a large part of why this project is well into its third year.:confused2::muttering::irked: I just can't get my hopes up anymore; he's a serial disappointer and the leopard won't be changing his spots anytime soon.

Got almost all the lawn mowed this morning, then ran errands including finding a much less expensive loveseat downtown, which was good, but
geez I hate to shop...and pick out fabric swatches? I brought home six new swatches and thankfully one of my female friends with designing/style sense is coming over for coffee
tomorrow to pronounce judgment on the samples.

I could use some advice from those of you living out West. I've already checked on plane flights to San Francisco, that was easy to do, and then spent an hour on Amtrak's site.
Train with sleeper and private toilet (only way I would do this...) is more than triple the cost of a business class round trip flight.
Now for the third option, driving. Assuming I check myself into a nice hotel in Austin, after leaving New Orleans the day before, what's the best way to get to Las Vegas?
I've never been there, one of those things you do once, particularly since I'm a non gambler. But the roads sure don't go straight there...Southern route seems to head to the Rio Grande, can see me being held up at the rest stop by MS-13... or the Northern route which goes to Abilene and Lubbock. I think I'd rather see Tucson than Albuquerque, but am clueless about best routes west. Shouldn't I be driving on Route 66 someplace? I'm staying at big city nice hotels all the way. If I ever do this again, it will be with a small motorhome to see all the sights,
this time I'm driving with a destination. Plus of course spending an extra day in a few areas. Not like I'd be allowed to traverse Texas without getting roped in... Aren't there more TBN members nearer Austin than Fort Worth/Dallas? Thought I'd like to see the Alamo...
Trying to do about six hours of driving a day. Any more and I'd never make it. Sort of wondering what was six hours out from Austin...sagebrush. ;)
