Woke up this morning to birds singing and the refreshing sensation of cool air squeezing itself through the slightly open window above us and gently falling onto our faces, while the rest of our bodies kept cosy under the duvet. If Max wasn't waiting for me to take him out I could have happily laid there another hour or two. I'm sure it won't be as peaceful tomorrow as it's weaning time, today the ewes are being separated from their lambs.

Hard lemonade" is a new one on me, I had to lie about my age on Mike's web site to find out more. Alcoholic lemonade ! If it was lemonade mixed with beer we'd call that a shandy, but then there couldn't be much lemonade in the mix to get to 5% proof like Mike's, so I guess that's made with spirits.

In the UK the generic term for sweet alcoholic drinks is "alcopops". Randy, you're an alcopop swigging toppop :)
Personnal i prefer hard cider. I picked that up in the UK, strongbow and woodpecker. Its now becoming very popular in the US.

It was 52° this morning. Yesterday was in the high 80's and partly cloudy. They are still saying a 20% chance of showers for today with a high in the 80's.

Going to town this morning with a neighbor. Not sure what the rest of the day will bring.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

We had a flat tire (hard to notice since the stabilizers were holding the weight. A chunk about 6" long was sticking out. Took about 15 minutes to change it, including tools and putting the flat tire back under the trailer where the spare was..

The Carr Fire burning east of Redding, CA was started by a flat tire on a trailer. It's now over 200,000 acres, only 63% contained, and 1,077 homes have been destroyed. It sounds like you did the best you could to diagnose that noise, but all of us towing trailers need to do a better job, especially in high fire hazard areas. I've done the same thing, and only pulled over after someone drove up beside me and pointed to the rear! And like you, found a flat tire on the dual axle trailer, a trailing one that I couldn't see through the mirror. Sends chills up my spine just thinking about what could have happened...

Never going to complain about thick grippy paint on implements. The state of the art in implement painting in my experience can be pretty awful. Land Pride, Everything Attachments, for sure Tractor Supply, they all have peeled, and not rust peeling, whole areas just sheeting off, usually from an edge. US made, Chinese made, North Carolina made, no difference. I had every single edge on a four year old shiny red Northern Tools orchard sprayer peel off. All the flat areas were fine, every single edge was faulty. Someone who knows professional painting can tell me why that happened. Usually inadequate/rushed prep and often a complete lack of primer coat.

It could well be faulty prep, Drew. Time is money. But it could also be the regulations imposed by the EPA have severely limited the solvents and formulations for the paint and primers to the point that they just don't hold up like they used to. That's a big reason why powder coating has really taken off. But it is subject to the same surface prep problems as paint...

Saw something RNG might like, I'll try to tack it onto this post in a bit from my phone.

Thanks for sharing, Kyle. Surf's Up! But in reality, there's more than a little animosity between the Vanagon peeps and the older air cooled VW bus types. It's more of the air cooled guys looking down their noses at the new fangled Vanagons I think, at least that's what I've seen at gatherings where both are present. I've always tried to live and let live, but after "enjoying" an air cooled Type 3 in my youth, I've never had much of a passion for the older bus stuff.:confused3:

great pic of an RNG wannabe...;) nothing will be in the league of his Vanagon when he's through. I think it will be NASA certified to land on the moon...

RNG has the art of "hanging in there" to an Olympic science. What do they call it, the Patience of Job?
When you enjoy this sort of thing, which many of us do, the trip is a big part of the fun, not just the destination.
And what a trip RNG has been on. Probably worthy of a book or a great article in Automobile magazine.

You are far more optimistic than I am, Drew. I'm still hangin' in there because you can't get blood out of a turnip, and it's let that fool mechanic dodder long at his own pace or take a financial licking that would make some of your vehicle adventures seem like a walk in the park. Still no smog, and the same ol' "just needs driven more", or "just need to do this one last thing" type excuses. He's got a million of 'em. Now THAT'S Olympic grade science, that is!

I'll hold that thought.

Good Morning!
Our air outside is still warmer than inside, so if I did that the birds outside would say that about the "cool air squeezing itself through the slightly open window".
76˚ heading to the high nineties, hit 102˚ yesterday but I was cool doing run around stuff for Mom. Sunday was the one day of rain since June. The neighborhood recycles it's water to irrigate the common area. Whenever we see sprinklers going we say there's poo poo water. It's treated so there is no smell but I don't have the inclination to run through the sprinklers. (being recycled water also allows the sprinklers to be exempt from the water restrictions of the city)

Tonight is the neighborhood cappella concert, it will be interesting, there is a lot of talent in the hood.

Ed's on the road heading to Latheville, and Farmer is figuring out the logistics of trailer pulling on his new truck. Good luck guys.

It’s just a large scale aerobic septic system Don. Our ranch system pumps out to three large sprinkler heads near the shop.

With the lack of rain, we have three x 100’ green circles.

wow what a helpful video for me Rick, thank you. I screwed up not releasing the hydraulic cylinder, that sure took some unnecessary energy to work against,
plus I must have gotten lucky with the universal joint because it didn't bind. Lot of little steps, great engineering, and it's all very HD.
Even if mine is smaller, much less expensive, and less complicated than the model shown. But the deck is almost identical, big difference underneath
throwing the grass to the rear instead of moving mowed grass six feet from one direction to the other. Which I really wish I could in this wet weather.
No problems at all with JD 60 throwing wet grass all to one direction, lawn looks great when done. But the Kubota really clumps. So I mow what I can with the Kubota, all the
areas where the grass isn't thick, but in the thickest areas, learned the RD deck does not disperse wet clippings effectively. A little bit of info the salesman neglected
to mention...

I get some front outer edge scalping from this deck once in a while, like a boat bashing into a tall wave, it digs in a little too deep, and my grass is very unforgiving.
Mow bermuda grass too low and you wind up with brown, not green. Your mowing sins are all out there easy to see.
This big heavy mower and deck are really better suited to perfectly graded lawns. Hit one of my subsiding tree potholes and one of those edges will be lighter colored
than the rest. This happened a lot with the prior service who ran their JD ZT's at high speed, and they got deck float/bounce where the cutting height changed, usually going lower
than desired, and there's no hiding it on this kind of grass. Other parts of my lawn (it's all a big mutt which is fine with me, green is green) where I have more fescue the high speed deck bounce doesn't seen to show.

All through my lawns are subtle drainage pathways, so while the land is flat, less than one degree, lots of small to large ditches moving water off the
property. Hit one of those at high speed and this isn't the suspension on a Ferrari...it's action reaction time all with a heavy dose of gravity.
Asking the mow crew to slow down was not well received. Now I mow the lawn again and I simply slow down and minimize the markings.
It all looks much better a day later, but I think we all look back when done mowing one last time to see how it looks. And what we forgot...

great pic of an RNG wannabe...;) nothing will be in the league of his Vanagon when he's through. I think it will be NASA certified to land on the moon...

Kubota puts Subaru engines in their small gas models, and RNG is putting a Subaru in his Vanagon. Good minds think alike.
though I think a small block Chevy would have worked well too.

y'all have a nice day

“get some front outer edge scalping from this deck once in a while, like a boat bashing into a tall wave, it digs in a little too deep, and my grass is very unforgiving.”

Drew, I had similar issue with my new Kubota ZD-1211 with 72” RD deck.

I lowered the front gauge wheels a bit and solved the problem.

Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 7:00AM. Sunny. High 86F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Been up since 3:30AM, and at 5:00AM gave up and got out of bed to begin the day. Our motorcycle group camps every year at Death Vally National Park over the President's Day weekend, and this year I was one of about a dozen club members to make the campsite reservations. They can only be made six months in advance, using a web site, and each person can only reserve three sights for the four days. First come, first served, so this morning we were all logged in with our fingers poised over the "make reservation" button at 6AM PDST. But when we clicked, we got a message saying come back later, you're trying to make the reservation too early. Text messages flew between us, and an hour later the whole fire drill was repeated, this time with success. Except somehow on my reservation I was also charged for an eighty-five dollar annual park pass.:confused2: Had to go through a chat session with a clueless customer service agent that insisted that the invoice number I provided was for a ticket on a ferry boat ride on July 27th. Took several exchanges before she discovered her error and credited back the cost. Just hope she didn't also screw up the campground reservations. Haven't had that much "fun" since my last ebay auction.:censored::muttering:

Hope Ed gets his lathe with all the goodies, and we get to see lots of pictures of it being moved!

Sorry to hear about Coco, Wng. And I really, really hope you don't also have Lymes. I have a few friends that do, that it's really turned their lives into a living He11. It can be cured if you catch it right away, but they didn't, and now everyday is a struggle with pain and suffering.

The big laptop was acting up again, so took time out to work on it yesterday. Seems OK now, but fingers crossed. Also had to fix one of the home automation hubs that controls the Lutron Casita light switches. Very responsive tech support, and a new hub is on it's way at no charge, but after the call I was able to get it working again by moving the ethernet cable used by the hub to a port on my main router. Didn't have the heart to call the guy back and cancel the hub, he worked so hard to help me.:duh: That still didn't get two outside video cameras working with the security system, so I went around restarting routers and extenders and finally everything came back online. Things have been flakey since a power outage a few days ago, so maybe it's time to invest in some uninterruptible power supplies. They work well, but I sure hate having to replace the batteries in them every few years.
