The ice cleats were delivered...
Of course, I had to try them out...and I wanted to spray non-stick on the snow blowers (more on that in a minute...). I also wanted to check out some critter tracks about 50-70 yards from the back of the house

We still have 4-6 inches or so of snow on the ground...those cleats did a fine job keeping me walking, even with my bum leg. The snow is hard frozen, so I didn't break through anywhere.
Anyway, there were two sets of tracks...looking at the size and distances apart, I'm pretty sure it was a momma moose and her calf. I wish I'd seen them when they walked across the lawn. Wifey thinks we should set up a couple game cams...and I think she's right!

Last time I used the 3PH blower was to clean up some wet snow and ice from a small event a week ago. The blower chute was filled with ice! About 20-25 minutes of chipping away with a pry bay, I had it pretty much cleared. So, I sprayed the chute, fan and auger (including the housing) with the anti-stick spray...also sprayed the chain. Fortunately, it's fairly warm (35 or 36 degrees) so the chore wasn't as much of a PITA it could have been.

Chores done...time for a beer!

Ted- Congratulations on the new addition to the pack. It's great to read how your dog + reacted. I wish all of you many happy and healthy years together.

"... Going to party out the old year tonight! Sitting in front of the TV, munching some goodies and making a likely vain attempt to stay awake until midnight."- Randy. I wish you and Ellen luck on partying out the old year and welcoming in the new in "party mode." I doubt that I'll make it :embarrassed:

GMI- That "lobsta" is huge. Your daughter should be proud.

My programming started off with COBOL on a paper in high school. Then to Fortan IV in college, on cards. Then Basic, Turbo pascal. Then Programming on some machine tools, then something I forgot the name of on a Browne and Sharp Cmm, then a DEA cmm language. Then Zeiss Comet, Umess, Some Zeiss curve measurement software, and gear measurement software, Autcad, Unix, and a cad language I can稚 recall. I also did Adcole gauges, strangely they were in FORTRAN, and had to compiled to finish up. A bunch of simple stuff I can稚 recall. I probably missed a couple of things. The important thing is that every single one is obsolete.....

LS, congrats on new puppy.
Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. Hard to believe our “little” Kekoa will be 2 yo tomorrow.
We have no doubt he has brought joy and longevity to our girl Kalani who will be 12 next summer.

Mmmmmmmmmmm

now assuming the object of your affection was the lobster,
I always wondered if the meat in those giant things were just as sweet and juicy
as the smaller regular lobsters.
I personally cannot take them apart, nor can I throw a live one in a steaming pot.
Shrimp is pretty much top of the take apart food chain for me.
I'd make a terrible animal farmer; they'd never get to market.;)

lovely day out, got up to 72, got most of xmas lights down, but not all, left the ones on the greenhouse, pretty
little winky lights. Got a lot of gardening stuff out of garage into garden shed where it belongs.
Went on patrol and did in half a dozen fire ant mounds.
Earlier trip to Lowes was aggravating, first getting any help back in outdoor fencing at all, and then finally having to give up at customer service
when the one lady was stuck dealing with some guy who wanted to return a chain saw bar he had bought by mistake and ruined in the process.
Figured I'd just order it online and have it shipped to this store, was special order anyway.
So I go online and some guy says it's flimsy and a piece of junk. Sigh.
Maybe I'll go down to the real fence store next.

So far a busy day. Wifey needed a few things from the grocery so took care of that. The roads were STILL horrendous. Doesn't look like they even plowed half way through the snow when it fell. There's at least 2-3" of solid packed ice on the streets. I guess they had to concentrate on the interstate to keep that open.

Pulling onto our road, my neighbor's 2 wheel drive pickup was stuck in a drift. Got the Jeep out and went over to pull her out. After accomplishing that, another neighbor comes flying up the hill and drives right into the plowed snow embankment with his 2 wheel drive ford escape.....What was he thinking? The snow was at least 2' deep hard packed snow..... Dug/pulled him out and figured I better get home before I get wrapped into getting the whole neighborhood unstuck:D

David, our little Kassie is 12. She's still a bit apprehensive about the pup but he's "new"...

Started snowing again....just watching it for now from the inside warmth. Tomorrow might be a different story....

Back home, light traffic today,
Some cold shrimp for supper.
Cats glad to see us. Course after eating shrimp, cat thought my finger has one and took a bite, lol.

My wife appreciates all the birthday wishes. She says she had a good time today. It's just 40-45 miles (depending on the route you take) to the old neighborhood where we lived before I retired. So we picked up the, now 90 year old, neighbor who used to be my wife's best friend for years and went for a leisurely lunch at an Olive Garden restaurant. And after we took her back home, we drove through the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery where one of my wife's brothers, another brother's wife, one of her uncles, one of my aunts and uncle, as well as some of our former neighbors, including the husband of the lady we took to lunch today, are interred. There were 3 funeral processions in progress while we were there, and the growing number of columbaria and headstones is just phenomenal. And there's still a wreath lying at each headstone from the Wreaths Across America on December 15..

Wow! Is this her profession? Really impressive critter, she has some serious kit on too.

Yeah, that's a cold wet job this time of year. You have to be set up for it. She is working by the day. Lobster is going for somewhere between 9&10 $ off the boat. A dern good price. She is working for $500 a day cash.
