36 degrees this morning, going for a high of 51. We have now made a whole week, 7 days, without rain.:cool2: I noticed yesterday that the puddles in this area appear to have dried up, finally. And now . . . 90% chance of rain tomorrow again.

It's the way it is ...now...

Wife doing great, just needs to get more stamina. Heading up to NYC again on Monday. Should be fun with the doom and gloom forecast here for this weekend. Rented a 4x4 just to be safe. Budget issues with the flights so that's not an option... Should be great bonding time. LOL

Rick have you looked into adding a M-cell. The one Randy sent me turned my router into a short range cell tower and went from 1 bar occasionally to a solid five in the house and yard. I don't know what it does but it does it good. You have to have a good internet service to use it.

That's the problem Don. Our satellite internet is as bad as our cell service.

The hiccup on that is the funds always have strings. And those strings tie not only the parents but also the kids in knots. And it never seems to end until death do part.

I was lucky, parents never had much so they couldn’t help even though I know they wanted to.

That and my neighbor who works for Verizon says a fiber cable is on the other side of our road.

Good morning to all! Low went to 26F, going up to 40F. The storm predicted for Sunday is now coming in tonight. The 2 different forecasts we pay attention to are just that, completely different. One says rain early, then maybe an inch or two of snow, done by tomorrow. The other station says snow tonight, 3-6" possible, the storm may strengthen, then dump 8+ ", continuing into Saturday. ???? I guess we'll wait and see.

Another session of PT this morning for the knee. PT has been doing very light stretching and range of motion exercises. Still have pain and swelling but not as bad as previously. I go back to the ortho doc on Monday.

RNG, I have given up trying to deal with cell companies and Internet providers. It is what it is. We have gone to the cheapest possible and have not noticed any worse performance than when we were paying for "the best".

Got the snowblower back together testerday afternoon. Tried it out on the heavy, wet, previously snowblowed area of snow. Tossed it real good. As soon as I turned off the auger, it popped one of the two belts off. So....this afternoon, troubleshooting the alignment of the pulleys.

Drew, continue to get better. Hope your electrical project goes well today.

RIP, glad you were able to get some work. Hopefully the shutdown won't last much longer.

Yep, we've got AT&T fiber at the Richmond house and it really spoils you.

Picked up another inch of rain yesterday, but it looks like we'll get to dry out a bit today. Glad I won't have to drive into town in the rain.

That's the problem with Internet service in rural areas, Rip. The economy of scale just isn't there because the low population density drives up the cost/mile of delivering service. Wire/fiber/antennas all cost money, and companies like Verizon Wireless aren't going to spend it if the subscriptions coming back don't at least break even.

Found a company that makes prefabricated concrete buildings, and was pretty impressed with the way they looked. Got through to a salesman but found their offerings a little too rich for my blood: $380K for a 40'x60'. I thought the whole idea behind prefab was to save money?:confused2:

Blew the water out of the gate opener yesterday, then spoke to another Mighty Mule person that told me that the water wouldn't have had anything to do with blowing the fuse. Said it was an overload of the motor that will do it. I've noticed a slight hesitation in the gate opening lately, and sure enough, there's just a tiny bit of drag on the latch mechanism. I can adjust that out with the hinges, so I'll have another go at it this morning. But I'm going to put a band of good shipping tape over the seams on the cover, and over the screw holes, too, just to be safe.

Coverage of the Paris-Dakar race has started; Stage 3 is today. Still only a half hour per show, though, and still in South America, all in Peru this year.

The low this morning was 18°. Yesterday was in the low 40' s and partly cloudy, today will be overcast and in the mid 30's. They don't show any storms until next week.

Spent most of yesterday helping a neighbor work on his snow plow for his skid steer. He busted a hydraulic fitting that was hard to get too. We found out that he also broke part of the frame. He had to order the fitting and weld the frame. He is not easy on his equipment, seems like he is always wilding on something he owns.

Making a trip in to town this morning to do some shopping. And it's the last PT appointment for my wife's shoulder. She is almost back to normal.

41° here and sunny this morning with forecast of 62° this afternoon.

I plan to hook up the 3 point log splitter to the 55Hp tractor today and cleanup some rounds from last year. I built a "parking stand", for the splitter, out of PT 2x6's last fall and I'm going to see if I can just back tractor up beside it, hook up hydraulic hoses, and operate without actually mounting it on the tractor. I can do all this on concrete and under roof so, won't make any more ruts.

If wind stays down, I'm hoping to get some more trees trimmed also.

Good morning, everyone!

31F this morning when I left the house. High of 33F forecast today, then it's forecast to drop into the low teens and single numbers at night with highs in the upper twenties and teens for the foreseeable future.

I managed some seat time last night, cleaning up the 2" - 3" of slush that accumulated from yesterday's snow/rain. I knew that whatever I didn't get cleaned up was going to be memorialized in ice with the plummeting temps forecast for today and tonight. The slush on top of frozen ground, asphalt, and ice made for some slippery conditions. A set of chains are in my future!

Got enough requests for tomatoes decided to grow some more this year, will give a lot of the plants away to Garden Club and Master Gardeners
for their Spring fair fundraising.

that workshelf in the garden shed desperately needs a redo. Not sure of whether to put formica down or to do stainless steel. I'm guessing the latter
is pretty expensive but? Anyone made a garden/potting shed bench? Need waterproof, durable surface.

22°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 35° today. Weekend snow predictions keep changing, of course, but now we're at the 8-10" range. Supposed to hit the STL area sometime tomorrow afternoon. Big dump overnight into Saturday, then light snow continuing into Sunday. We haven't had a substantial snowfall like that here since 2014. Admittedly, I'm kind of looking forward to it.

Our chickens have slowed a bit on egg production with the shorter days. We've been getting between three and six a day. Yesterday, we got seven. One was very small, so I suspect we have a late bloomer finally laying. Getting low on cartons, too. We've been using recycled commercial cartons we saved and our neighbor across the road gives us. We don't always get them back, though. Looked online last night at buying some generic cartons, and found prices all over the place, from about 50¢ a piece to as much as $1.20 each in 100-ish quantities. One company I looked at sells the same cartons through Amazon at 36¢ that they sell on their own website at 50¢. Weird.

Drew, don't know if you have a countertop manufacturer nearby, but you might try and find one. I purchased an 8' cultered marble countertop for $25.... It was miscut and basically useless to them. It's been in our garden shed for the last 10 years. Just a thought.....
