Buppies- A belated happy anniversary wish for you and your wife. I am happy to read that it was a pleasant anniversary. I wish you both many more happy and healthy anniversaries.

An 18ºF start to the morning and I expect temperatures to rise to ~30ºF later. The deer were active early this AM= so was Brogen (~2:30AM). There seems to be a lot of territory marking going on.

Storm #1; today is passing overhead this morning is moisture starved. Storm #2 Thursday-Friday is loosing strength, but I may see ~3” and the hyped Saturday-Monday snow storm will probably become a wintry mix with lots of sleet/ice to pack down the initial snowfall here. It could get really nasty here. Northern and Western NE will probably see all snow….. I am hoping that the snow/rain line tracks more southeasterly. And then it gets real cold…

32°F and light mist falling this morning, going up to 37° today. Expecting rain later tonight and into tomorrow. Predictions for the weekend are above 0 now, but in the low single digits. Will undoubtedly change again before we get there.

Short of replacing the track, Tractor-Daddy-in-Waiting, I'd probably stick a chunk of 2x4 up in there and try to hammer it a little flatter, then grease the bejeebuz out of it.

Speaking of BMW motorcycles, I remember talking to a guy at the local shop back in the early '90s who said he was on a factory tour there and saw a prototype 4-cylinder boxer engine sitting on a stand, and asked the tour guide if that was the rumored 1600. He said they quickly threw a cover over it and refused to discuss it :laughing:.

Just saw the weather forecast for you guys in the NE and north.....watch out...looks like it's going to get nasty this weekend. Better batten down the hatches! Be prepared and stay safe !

It is winter in the northeast, it has been mild with lots of mud till the last week 10 days,
top of the tractor fuel tank, maybe get some more done on hydraulics for the used 10 ft rear blade I picked up.

Its crude design by that I mean items just stuff laying around here and there free... cost so far $0.

Plastic thick wall round trash container,4 feed holes 3" opening opposite from each other,plastic gutter trough 4" long for feed to run into,4 Unistrut legs,legs bolted thru 3/4" plywood also thru plastic trash container.3/4" plywood fasten to bottom of plastic round container able to fasten gutter trough,plastic cover lid keep weather elements out also raccoons which jack chain use to secure two opposite sides,tall orange road safety inside to help gravity feed to allow feed exit from feed opening.

More tweaking will have to been done once more deer show up....mostly flow of the grain etc.

My first thought also was someone ran into the door but I can't find any evidence. The door weighs about 400 pounds and can only slide off one end. Hopefully it can be fixed by sliding both doors to the other side of the rail.

The expectations of a clean tractor are not very high so there is no pressure on keeping it clean but If I do I would be considered a better qualified TD.

Very likely wind did that. Wind can make a slider sail, and that will bend the track. Been there, seen that. Our church building has a large barn that came with the property. 5 of 7 very large and very heavy (15 ft x 12ft) doors ended up blowing off in high winds. I have replaced all but 1 with roll up overhead doors.

51° and overcast this morning. Forecast is for 60° this afternoon. We're expecting below freezing temps for this coming Sunday and Monday mornings.

Haven't posted or caught up for last two days. I got a call from the electrical contractor first thing Monday that another job was delayed and he had two guys and scissor lift available to come install my overhead light fixtures. I was actually on my way into town when he called so ..... made a u-turn and headed back to the ranch to move everything out of the way. Luckily all my big shop tools, table saws, work tables, etc. are on rollers so ....... got everything moved before they arrived.

When they arrived and unloaded the scissor lift we reviewed the job;

Replace five existing 8' fluorescent fixtures, hanging 16' above shop floor, with 8' LED fixtures in main shop.

Replace two existing high pressure sodium security lights, about 18' above ground on ends of shop, with Honeywell 5000 lumen LED security lights.

Replace four existing 8' fluorescent fixtures, installed about 12' above floor, with 8' LED fixtures in "pavilion" next to main shop. The "pavilion" got it name by my wife. It's where we held our wedding almost 11 years ago.

There are two dual flood lights about 20" above the floor, under the roof extensions, on both ends of the shop that had 90 watt halogen flood light bulbs of unknown age. I decided, since we had the scissor lift there, to replace all four bulbs with 120 watt equivalent LED flood light bulbs.

The guys thought it would be a stretch to get everything above done in one day but, they got busy about 10 a.m.

The first fixture replacement took about 30 minutes, as they figured everything out. The next four, in main shop, took about an hour total. These fixtures were all hung on chains and individually powered from above thru BX cable.

The four pavilion fixtures were attached directly to the frame structure and powered thru 1/2" EMT so install went a bit slower.

The guys took an hour for lunch and still finished everything by 4 p.m.

I'm glad I went this way and the scissor lift really helped all the installation get completed quickly and safely.

The difference in light, everywhere, is even better with all the LEDs than I expected.

Now to put the shop back together so ..... I can get back to numerous projects.

I'll try to get some pictures today.

I owned the R75/7 for 32 years and really like the airheads. I rode a 92 R100GS for a couple of years, after the 99 K12LT. I was looking for a nice R100RT when I happened on the R1150RT-P CHiP bike that I ride now.

I have an R100GS that's closing in on 150K miles, lots of smiles on that one!

Trip to PO this morning. Not much else planned. Maybe straighten tractor shed to ensure clear paths for wheel narrowing concrete. Maybe work on my materials list for post concrete phase.

Good story, Paul. I guess BMW abandoned the 4 cylinder boxer after that guy saw the prototype? Or maybe they figgered Honda already had laid claim to that idea, and just pumped up the 1000cc inline 4 to 1200cc. These days, everyone is drooling over the 1600cc inline 6, but in my opinion they're too long and heavy, and even though they handle well, they'd be a handful at parking lot speeds and go through tires like grain through a goose.:laughing:

Went to PT even though lots of ice on roads. Just took it slow. I know the ABS works.

Don, one thing that might work to straighten door rail is have one of the wood shops make a block that fits inside track. Then keep using a hammer to pound rail back into shape as block is moved closer to bend. Don't get block stuck in rail. Door will not close at all.

I took a test ride a K100LT once while my bike was in for some service. I really wanted to like that bike, and it was a great ride, but it seemed quite top-heavy compared to the boxers ... and for obvious reasons. Those flat twins just have a great center of gravity.

I also kind of wanted to like the K1, but just not my style.
