Grapefruit Juice Can Interact With Medicines

Drew- I was meaning to check on grapefruit-med interactions for my own purposes based on past Dr. recommendations, but never got around to doing it; but your ? got me motivated. I checked a couple of sites; antibiotics can be affected.

Sometimes grapefruit can interfere with the metabolic absorption of certain antibiotics...thinking amoxicillin is one of them. Probably better to not eat the grapefruit (especially the whole thing) but a small amount probably wouldn't hurt.

I've always liked grapefruit, but haven't bought any except the 4 lb. jars at Walmart in a long time; just too convenient (and tasty).

And I have a dental appointment in the morning just to get the old teeth cleaned and polished, and the doctor who did my shoulder replacement, and whose word I wouldn't believe if he swore on a Bible, tells the dentist that I should take a handful (6) of amoxicillin 500mg cap an hour before hand, so I'll take'em and not eat any of my grapefruit in the morning.

I'm good thanks, mine is not on list.

I am not a Dr. But did stay at a HI a long time ago. My Dr. recommended not eating or drinking any citrus for 2 hours before or after taking meds. Maybe a little overboard. But it works.

9° and roads drifting. Had at least 2 plows pass me with their plow up, and drifts high enough that the bottom of cars were dragging. Not sure why.

I went thru that with my Dentist after my knee replacements. Lasted about 2 years then the Dentist office said the protocol had changed. What never made sense to us is wife has a partial hip and other assorted parts but noone ever said anything until I did my knees. Strange!!!!!
