The pup seemed to be getting better yesterday afternoon, he was good for about 18 hours, but got us up again at 3am to go outside. Then every hour since. Not as bad as yesterday. His diet will be limited to help lighten his system.

That's great to read, give the pup light belly rub and good starching behind the ears for me. :)

Made a trip to town for emissions test on the honda. Took an old battery to exchange for the core charge for a new one for the massey.

Really sleepy with being up most the night.

72° and mostly cloudy. Calling for more storms tonight.

Also stopped at local Ferris dealer to look at ztr, but was almost closing time at noon, and they were busy inside. Its also the local yanmar dealer.

Ted- I hope that Max and Kassie shake their GI illnesses soon.

Very few areas in western MA got rain this PM. My area was one that did.:(

Thomas- I saw my first BLACKFLY today. With all this rain I think this will be a bad year for BLACKFLIES in NE.

Almost time for Happy Hour. The left overs from the Chinese meal I made last night using both wok and air fryer will be tonight's dinner.

I hope that everyone can kick back and relax, and for those of us with sleep challenges get some restful sleep tonight.

Molson Golden was one of the few beers on my "preferred" list when I was a drinker. Top of that list was always Labatt's Blue (back before InBev bought them and removed the 's from the name).

Deadly Flooding From Michigan to the South Damages Homes, Sends Mississippi River to 157-Year-High in Davenport, Iowa | The Weather Channel
PJ, do you have an oar in your car?

after all these damaging floods, when does it become financially sensible to build some real water control dams and levees?

No oar in the car, Drew. Perhaps I should consider it. All the streams and creeks around here are severely swollen. With all the rivers up, there's just nowhere for it to go. The sun is shining right now, and tomorrow is supposed to be sunny, too. However, there is rain in the forecast here pretty much all next week. As I noted before, someone has recently speculated that we may be looking at 1993-level flooding this year. That was a very, very bad year in the St. Louis area. Our property is in no danger of that manner of flooding, but there are already a couple of places around the area that are evacuating.

It seems, after exhaustive research from the '93 flood, that it's actually the levees and dams that are causing the problems. Excessive water from the rivers used to dissipate into surrounding wetlands. The modern levee systems have funneled more and more water downstream until it gets so full that it either tops or busts the levees. I think the real answer is to take the levees back down to reasonable levels and let nature do what is is supposed to do. Of course, that would also require us to stop building communities in areas that even the ancient native residents knew to be flood-prone. The ancient Mississippians knew this area flooded, so they built their communities up on mounds to keep them dry. We may have gained a lot of knowledge over the centuries, but it seems we've lost a lot as well.

Similar reasons why Hurricane Agnes wiped out the Susquehanna River System and all the towns in its floodplain in the 1970's. It happened here in NE as well in more recent times.

At the bottom of the hill we live on runs the West Branch of the Westfield River. When we first moved here there was a really nice garden along the river. It was probably close to 20' away from the riverbank then now it's 5'. It's the natural evolution of a watershed as I understand the process. The garden will become a memory unless some serious ballast rock is dumped, but that will only redirect the river in an even more destructive manner.

Part of the problem is that rebuilding the USA infrastructure is considered too expensive according to many pols regardless of party affiliation.

Happy Hour has come. :cool::D

Did not get as much fence tore out as I'd like too. Maybe about a 1/3 of the way. Wire is all rolled up and post pulled out, many were laying down and have been for years. I need to clear the whole fence line so I can burn the weeds then smooth it out for the new fence.

Also went to my brothers place and brought my New Holland haybine home.

The latch mechanism on the rear door of the Jeep wouldn't catch on Friday. I took it apart today and fixed it. Other than getting my nuts retorqued, that was all I did today. Both the Jeep and trailer are getting floated up to Timmins,ON around the 15th.

My Uncle drank golden for years. He said it was easier on his ulcers than any other beer/ale. Personally, I drank EX.

Has the pup been anywhere near the cats' litter box. Dogs can and do eat cat poop, what I call kitty treats.
They will upset the stomach and give them the trots.
