Good morning!!!!

Mom was back to being unresponsive yesterday, I guess it’s the roller coaster I have to deal with until the end. I stayed with her two hours yesterday. I told her if she got too tired my dad and brother are waiting for her, and I will be fine until my time comes.
When the battle is best surrendered...

Sorry to hear this, but your words were well spoken.

Officially, I bought a boat (but only because I was registered with the auction site and my buddy was not). He's bringing up the money this morning for us to go do a wire transfer and try to get this thing done.

Good Morning! It's 65°F and very foggy here. We're expecting to see 85°F this afternoon.

This is expected to be our last rainless day for the week. Large storms expected for this Thursday.

All the rain we had Friday and early Saturday caused a huge sinkhole besides one of our Community roads. The water washed out a 3' diameter tunnel under the road going almost to the other side. We've got a local concrete supplier coming this afternoon to pump a sand / concrete slurry into the sinkhole and under the road. The other two guys that would normally monitor this are both away today so ...... I won the duck. I'm totally on the concrete company's schedule no need to stay close to the phone or .... at least be sure I can hear my cell phone ring. That eliminates pressure washing and mowing and I have no checkers that need playing. . I used to have some noise cancelling headphones, with a good microphone, that linked to my phone with Bluetooth. Unfortunately they broke and I haven't found a reasonably priced replacement.

Everyone please have a great start to your week and hug a nurse! This is National Nurses week. My little sister recently retired after 45 years in Nursing. More than half was spent as a trauma care nurse.

Prayers to all.

nicely said Randy.

St Louis continues its reputation apparently PJ, here's what the coach of that 13 year
old football prodigy said about his death by a stray bullet after a party:

17 people shot in St. Louis yesterday. Including the devastating loss of one of our brightest young future starts in this city.
This city has no value for life. This city eats their young. R.I.P. Young Bull

that's pretty depressing actually. Sounds like a war zone.
I think I'll stay living among the farmers.

off to pick a basket of collards for the nurses at my primary doc's, who when asked if they liked collards all enthusiastically
chimed in yes. Now that surprised me. Ok, better go get them some. Beautiful day out, going to pick some collards and then pull the rototiller through
the rows for weeding since it rained last night.
A fine day to be alive.

and thanks to Rick, I can now, if I remember, tell the nurses this is for national nurses week.

Found another club to join and was there yesterday for a few hours. It's the Cards/domino/games club. They taught us how to play canasta/hand and foot cards and it will be a good thing to do when temps get over 100 and in the evening when the wood working shop is closed. I hear they get very competitive on Mondays.

I didn't know anyone still played canasta. That was one of the first card games I learned, I guess. My parents and friends of theirs used to play that game until late at night.

Good evening all. 58F this morning, partly cloudy, calm wind. Wind stayed light most of the day, high temp was 82F. Conserve energy day today, started with Chapel, make wife's breakfast, then slowed it down:D Did get a nap in.
Roy thanks for the links, Saw Winwood and Clapton a few years ago in Omaha,NE. Good concert:thumbsup:
Randy good news on your mom, neighbor went through the same thing a few years ago, thought she was near death removed all medication then worked out what she HAD to have, and she was much better, lived several more years IIRC.
prayers for all.

Same thing with my MIL, who has MS and is now in her eighties. She got C. Difficile and was on her death bed so they called in all of the kids, who flew in from various cities. But then she got angry and pulled out all the tubes feeding her antibiotics and refused any further treatment. The end, right? Wrong. She made a miraculous recovery with no further treatment whatsoever, whereas she was clearly going downhill before with the antibiotics. They didn’t expect her to live even a few days now that treatment had stooped (at her request).

That was about 10 years ago. She is alive and kicking today, and still fill of P & V. The doctors never did figure out how she made such an amazingly impossible recovery.

But I know.

Have a nice day everyone.

Good morning to all! Low of 42, going up to 76, sunny w/ high clouds. Chances of rain showers/t-storms increasing tomorrow, best chances on Wed/Thur.

Yes, the anticipation is building! I have 2 outdoor projects to keep me busy today... Cleaning the grill, then hosing / cleaning off the deck / porch area. If that doesn't last long enough to keep me occupied, then there's always weed-wacking to do!

Randy, sorry to hear your mom has decreased conciousness today. Maybe just an affect of the med changes. You hang in there!

Drew enjoy your day! Always nice to reap "the fruits of your labor". Many people benefit from what you do! Hope your A1C is in check.

Kyle, I am anxiously awaiting the results of the "chicken test".

CAT, nice pics. Looks like a long walk!

Pups seem to be better, I was finally able to sleep through the night...well more like passed put! They are still on the 'limited' diet.

Going to drink more coffee then get myself occupied!

Everyone have a great start to the week. Prayers sent.

Good Morning!!!! 54F @ 7:45AM. A mix of clouds and sun. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible. High around 75F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.

Been catching up with you all for the past couple of hours; you've been busy! And now I think I need another nap!:confused2: This after a three hour nap yesterday afternoon, once parked again in my own driveway and the cooler was unloaded. Definitely the low point in the trip, after having to say goodbye to several new friends made at the camp out. Probably over 200 vans there, stacked elbow to elbow, and I was shoe horned in among them as well. Managed to get there early enough on Thursday to get a spot in afternoon shade and morning sun, and with cooler weather than last year it was as close to perfect as one could ask for. I was worried that no one was around when I got set up, but was warmly welcomed by neighbors all around, some of whom I think will turn out to be good friends. I guess there's hope for humanity after all.

One neighbor noticed the new awning flapping a bit in the breeze, and asked where my middle brace was. I hadn't even noticed the brackets for it, and he just happened to have an extra one he could no longer use. It even came with LED lights underneath, and offered it to me for less than half what he paid for it. Deal! I had no luck unloading the parts I had to sell though, so I'll have to put some ads together and deal with shipping if I want to get rid of them.

I did get the fellow that made the rear engine mount to confirm that it was correctly installed, along with an opinion that the vibrations were signalling that the viscous coupler in the front differential was failing. So I'll get one of those on the way today, and plan on pulling the diff and front axles to be ready for installation when it arrives. And if that doesn't fix it, it'll be good for another thirty years before it needs replacement again.

I also participated in a window replacement seminar, and during the two multi hour session learned the finer points of both removing and installing all the windows on a Vanagon. It's a skill that should come in handy if I'm ever starving and need money for a meal.

The fellow I rode with two years ago in the obstacle course won it this year, but only after two elimination rounds. During the first, he had to wear a patch over one eye, in the second he still wore the patch but also carried a flag in his left hand that had to stay outside the window. So one hand on the wheel, one foot on the clutch, the other on the accelerator pedal, with one eye tied behind his back, he still made it look easy. Wish more people drove that well!

Hope everyone's week gets off to a better start!

64°F and .08 inches rain. Yesterdays’s gusty winds (30+mph) seem to have dissipated.
Town this afternoon. Refill a propane bottle, exchange a beer keg, happy hour with friends.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Good Afternoon Everyone!!!!!

Today’s low was a mixed clouds/sun 44ºF; 59ºF now with conditions unchanged; and I anticipate increasing clouds and high temperature in the mid60ºF’s. I am trying to to take advantage of today’s sunshine before the next round of rain begins tonight.

Yesterday I saw my first Baltimore oriole here in many years and a male red breasted grosbeak. We used to have a breeding pair; I hope he finds a mate in the neighborhood.;). And yesterday after many different profane moments and unsuccessful methods of trying to mount new front tires for the rider I discovered new ways of really provoking my cubital tunnel syndrome = a trip this morning to the tire center 4 mile up the road from here to mount those :cenosored: tires. I do all our tire business there; they deserve my business….. Then the rears after I remount my fronts. My fingers are not happy today:(.

Eric- Thanks for sharing.

…. have to admit, off the steroids, aches and pains are back and I sure don't feel in high gear anymore. More like struggling to
get from first to second- Drew. I know the feeling. There is a withdrawal period from Prednisone. I still miss that buzzin’ feelin’.

Randy- I hope your Mom has more “good days” to share with you. The “long goodbye” is hard.:(

Check- You MIL is one awesome lady. It was not her “time.” Thanks for sharing. I spent quite a bit of “face time” with those spunky longterm care residents still endowed with P&V.. I always looked forward to their energy:cool:

Ted- I am happy to read that your dogs are on the mend. I await your tractor pictures.

RNG- I am happy to read about your productive and enjoyable weekend.

I hope that everyone is having a decent Monday.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

52°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 76° today. No rain in the forecast until after midnight tonight.

Back at work today after four days off. Was not easy getting out of bed this morning.

Got most of the grass cut yesterday, at least in the areas I knew I could safely go with the ZTR. Got it stuck once on a slight hill in the front yard that was softer than it appeared. Fortunately, I was able to lift the front enough to pivot it around 90° and back it down the hill to the lower driveway. A few minutes later, I almost got it stuck out by the road mowing around the mailboxes, but was able to power through that one. That pretty much ended the idea of any more mowing in the front.

Picked The Wife up from the airport last night. Her flight in from DFW was actually about 20 minutes early, which was about 5 minutes after I arrived. Was definitely nice having her home again.

Yet another unfortunate event here. Heard on the radio this morning that he was one of three deaths in the area over the weekend. There were 18 shootings in the St. Louis area over the weekend ... and it's not even summer yet. This young man was shot in Venice, IL, which is between my hometown of Granite City and the infamous East St. Louis IL. Venice has never been a great place, at least not during my lifetime of nearly 53 years. I have a friend who was a police officer there back in the '80s. He told me they got shots fired calls pretty much every night.

And, you're right, Drew. That's why we live where we do, too. There hasn't been a homicide in Trenton IL since 1977 (and that was in town, when someone shot his own brother during an argument). There are no recorded homicides in the rural area where we live.

Don, Hand & Foot has been the card game we play last few years.
Wife and I play against each other and then we usually play Guys vs Girls when 4 or 6 of us. With wife’s sister here, guys are up 2-1 currently.

I developed a scoring sheet in Numbers for iPad/iPhone. Can be modified for Excel. Willing to send to anyone and you can adapt to local rules

I grew up playing cards, got very adept at Rook, Pedro, Rummy, Hearts, Euchre, Oh H311, Between The Sheets, poker, BlackJack, loved them all.

/ Good morning!!!! #93,457
I played most of the card games at one time or another, but never did learn to play bridge.

/ Good morning!!!! #93,458
Many years ago I played pinochle, rummy, canasta, poker, hearts. Tried euchre but just did get a liking to it.
Played dominos while traveling. Liked Mexican Train. With rules that are sealed in a empty wine bottle. Definitely not a boring game.

Played dominos while traveling.

Now you're talking my game, whether straight dominoes or 42. I guess I first learned those games in my early teens when a friend and I tried to beat our Dads. And when I started on the police department, we weren't allowed to wear the uniform to and from work, except in some particular cases. So the locker room in every station had tables and dominoes. I was one of those who ALWAYS got to work early, so I played a lot of dominoes in the locker room.
