Good morning!!!!

34 °F and going to a high of 57. Wind NE 14 mph. Mainly cloudy.

The fallen tree is done, like dinner. I am going to let the sections that I took off the main trunk dry and rot in place on the south side of the mound. That will give the rabbits another place to den up. I found a 10 lb bag of 32-0-0 fertilizer. I am told that high nitrogen will rot out a tree pdq. (I cannot get potassium nitrate anymore without a whole bunch of hoops to jump through) I speared a couple of deep (14") holes with the bar and pulled out a fair amount of the dry rot from the center and in went the fertilizer, all 10 lbs of it. Now I am waiting for the rain that will come on Monday.

While I was messing with the tree stump, my computer was doing a full system backup. 209 gigs and so far it has taken 24 hours and still going. It is all going on a Western Digital external hard drive. This is all in preparation for a windows 10 upgrade to the win 7 I am running.

The Kioti and hoe got greased yesterday, that is the final greasing until the fall when I get back. I also changed the grease gun hose over to the hose that has the Lock-n-lube fitting on it. The Lnl is too big to fit into the pockets for my zerks, so I use the old school style. The Lnl will work no problem on my trains.

I have almost all of the parts for the exhaust reroute on the Kioti. I need 1, 1 3/4 clamp and 2, 2" ones and fashion a upper bracket for the stack. IF my measurements are correct, then the exhaust will exit just below the roof and off to the left. While I am northwest I will have a better chance to get more parts. There is a Fort Garry Industries in Thunder Bay and that is where I get most of my automotive parts.

That was my weekend in a nutshell.

As for eating groundhog, I would IF I was hungry enough. Well done for me.

Have a good day all

Got a college graduate, and am 400 miles closer to home. Really tired..

Congrats and drive carefully.

Happy Mothers Day. My mom is driving up the 100 miles after church to come and eat BBQ pork chops. My wife made 2 home made coconut cream pies yesterday, cost of ingredients = about $10 each. 1 qt of heavy whipping cream was over $7 alone. I made 2 Mississippi mud pies. MIL/family coming over.

Hope all the mothers have a splendid day.

59 and showers, going to 69 and rain. Magnolias blooming.

Saw a book title yesterday that says it well..."Mother is a Verb."

Worked on a food plot yesterday - mowed, tilled, planted, fertilized, dragged, and compacted...peredovik sunflower with a light dressing of crimson clover. Finished as the first rain drops fell. Not efficient to do all those steps to a single plot, but am running late this year, and at least wanted to get the first sunflowers planted.

Good morning to all! Low of 38, going up to 65. Sunny and clear sky right now, chance of a storm later.

CONGRATS TO BEF's SON ON HIS GRADUATION !

Kyle, the pies sound delicious! Got me drooling already....

Eric, beautiful pic of the landscape!

I got a chance yesterday to do a little familiarization of the tractor. It's a bit different but still similar. Loader and BH are much 'smoother' than the little one. It was still way too wet to dig anything, but maybe in the next couple of days, I 'll get a chance.

Today is going to entail rearranging the garage / shop so there is a space for the BH. Then I can take the BH off to use the other implements.

Finishing my coffee, then outside to get started....

Everyone have a great day, Happy Mothers Day for all the mothers out there! Prayers sent for all.

Good morning all and Happy Mother's day to all the tractor moms.

46 and a blue sky with no wind.

Yesterday we got the land roller back together and I finished rolling the rocks back to where they belong. When I finished mine I rolled out the owners field that he is going to seed with alfalfa. It's a 40 acre piece. Needless to say I spent a good deal of the day in the tractor. :D

Prayers for all, have a nice day.

Good Morning! It's 62°F this morning and partly cloudy. Forecast says 79°F for this afternoon ..... sunny and humid.

Sunday's are usually tractor maintenance days but, due to rain, neither has moved for 10 days.

Was going to watch NASCAR today but ...... race was yesterday. . DOH!

Guess I'll just pressure wash .....something?

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms!

Everyone have an excellent Sunday.

Prayers to all.

Good Morning Everyone!!!!!
And Happy Mother’s Day!!!!! I hope that all who still have Moms have a quality time day celebrating and that everyone else can celebrate with family.

Today’s high temperature of 48ºF was at midnight; a rainy 39ºF presently; and temperatures will continue to fall today with rain possibly mixing with sleet/snow around here. I see rain possibly mixing with sleet/snow into Wednesday. I was able to take advantage od yesterday’s sun and finally get some real seat time on the NH moving wood chips to different garden areas. It’s really much too wet to stray to far afield around here. I kept the loader loads fairly light to minimize sinking the front R1’s. I dropped the boxblade in anticipation and hopes that the ProMets were correct predicting the rain coming late, today. They were wrong. :( Within 5 minutes of putting up the bird feeders this AM I had 11 different species of birds feeding. It looks like for the very first time that we might have nesting pair of Baltimore Orioles. We rarely saw them here in years past.

David- Slowly, ever slowly you are making headway. Thanks for sharing and good luck

Bruce- You are welcome.

BEF- Congratulations on your Son’s graduation and I wish you a safe return home. Please get some rest.

Phil- The weather in MA today is conducive for sleeping, napping, and resting protesting muscle groups. Take care.

Eric- An awesome display from your crabapples. Thanks fro sharing.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers

Good Morning!!!! 59F @ 7:00AM. Mostly sunny. High 86F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Happy day to all the mothers out there!

Exciting news about the oriels, Jay.

Ted, does your new tractor have a hydrostatic transmission, and if so, how many pedals does it have? And I hope you have an easy time dismounting the backhoe. Do you have a stand for it? I used a piece of log for mine before I made one just the right height from scraps of steel tube.

Even a little progress is a good sign, David, especially if you still have a path forward.

Finished the first mowing yesterday, or at least have done all that I could. The last bit meant backing down hill to a little two foot drop to the driveway, hanging the flail mower over the edge, then going back up. That was working fine until the last pass when a few feet up the wheels started slipping again that the tractor sliding back down. The brakes held it, and lifting the mower let me get back up. There was more to do, but it'll take someone with bigger stones than I have this year to do it.

Or a better tractor. On the way up the driveway to do the other side of its berm, an expensive crunch came from the right rear gear case and hydraulic fluid started pouring out. The axle had shifted out of its seal, but at least the wheel was still attached. I slowly backed down the drive until the front wheels locked, but the tractor took off again when I got it out of 4WD. Got it stopped with the brakes, but it was out of fluid by the time it got to the bottom of the hill and now there it sits. I hope to get a neighbor to help me tow it to the garage and get an autopsy done today so I can order parts when the dealership opens tomorrow. But this is the last straw for that tractor, and I'm thinking perhaps a tracked skid steer would be a lot safer on the hills around here anyway. If I got one big enough, it might even be up to the excavation work I need. But maybe not; I've got some homework to do. I'm very happy the tractor failed when it did; very likely it would have flipped over backwards had I tried to back down the slope where the wheels were slipping.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend.

RNG, sorry about your tractor. Get something safe...

picked kale and lettuce for several hours this morning, that's all I had planned, now a day of rest

Brewed a pitcher of decaf iced tea, something folks ask for and almost impossible to buy. I had some old tea bags that were well wrapped and smelled good when opened, so ten bags in the pitcher and it came out nicely.

So-Cal Half-Mile Presented By Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys - Perris - 5/11 - Fans Choice

I was at a local race last night. Was helping Johnny. We had a great result in the Vintage 250 race. We were parked next to the Vanderkooi痴.....came home with a JV20 hat.

Ronnie Rall was racing last night at the tender age of 80 on a rigid frame, brakeless HD KR!

Maybe some pics later.

It's not a hydrostat....decided to go with gear due to greater power. The little MT was the first hydrostat I had, liked it, but just wanted a gear. 12x12 w/ the three ranges. I have the dolly / stand I had made for the old one, but I think it needs some modifications. The new BH has a large subframe that comes off w/ it (you can see it in the pics under the tractor). So I have to see if I want leave it attached to the Bh and make the dolly to fit, or go through the trouble each time to remount it to the BH, then back to the tractor.
It should only take a few minutes to actually take it off, only 2 pins hold it on. Takes more time to get it prepped for removal.

Sorry to hear about the problem with your tractor...hopefully an easy fix.

Drew- We missed our chance yesterday to brew some "solar" iced tea. For us it seems hard to find/purchase ice tea that is unsweetened around here.

RNG- I am glad that you are able to post about the "runaway" tractor experience, but sorry to read about your tractor. Good luck with the retrieval, repair, and hopefully the acquisition of a new tracked machine. With all the still-ongoing surface flowing water around here in my lower field I am seeing new ground surface "anomalies" that may present new rotary cutting challenges this Fall if the field ever dries sufficiently.

The wild blueberries in the lower field are starting to flower:cool: It looks like a good year for the local wildlife; with luck maybe I'll be able to pick a few. I have never picked any of the wild strawberries that grow in profusion in the lower field.
