53°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 72° today.
Spent Saturday morning driving the nephew all over trying to get his driver's license reinstated. Took him to the office in Greenville, where they informed him they couldn't do that there, and that he had to go to either Springfield or Granite City. So, drove him to Granite (which is always an adventure) only to find that his license has expired (last month), so he'll need to take the written and driving test. Not enough time left in their day for that, so he left. 115 miles and three hours later, we returned home no better than we left. I puttered a bit inside before going out around 1:30pm to start on the prairie restoration area. There's about a half acre between the lake front and the road that always floods every spring and gets too we to mow. With the increased rains, it's been especially bad this year. Still haven't been able to mow there, and the grass is three feet tall already. Too tall for the mower and too wet for the tractor. I went out there in my tall rubber boots with the Husqy line trimmer and a gallon of fuel mix. Three hours later, I had about half of it done. had to quirt when my hands and forearms started cramping.
Sunday morning was spent mostly waiting on Lowe's to deliver our new washer and dryer. They finally showed up around 4:30pm. They delivered the new Whirlpool machines and removed the old ones. Nice guys, in and out quickly. I attached the power cable to the dryer and connected everything in about 10 minutes. Wifey was happy. A few more "bells and whistle" than the old set, but still your basic washer and dryer. Never got back out to work on the prairie grass. Made loaded nachos for dinner instead.
Happy Anniversary, Claye. 40 is impressive.
