I know they are destructive and deadly to us, but sure are beautiful to me as part of nature. Great photo. Glad you are safe (now you can post pics of new Z421 next :)).

Bill- I agree. Labels can become a self-fulfilling destiny for those so inclined.

I do as well. Unless you learn to disregard what other people say and think, something which apparently many younger people today have not learned to do. Motorcyclists have an old saying: Ride your own ride. Keeps you from crashing trying to keep up with someone with more skills or recklessness. It applies to many things off the bike, too...

Good morning all,

First off, cool picture BEF. While tornadoes can be very destructive they are cool to see. (especially if no one gets hurt)

42 this morning and you guessed it.....raining. Not sure how much longer this is supposed to keep going. I guess it's a good test for my new house to make sure the roof is leak proof. So far so good.

Not much going on today. A funeral for a neighbor, think he was like 98 or so. Wish the weather was better for that.

Prayers for all, there are many in need at the moment. Have a nice day.

Good morning and nice to hear all is well in the world, Buppies is good and no one got bitten, mauled by a bear, carried off by a tornado, or lost a toe to a concrete cutter in the last 24 hours.

Well, you're mostly right, Eric. I tried out the Nice'n'Soft to keep the mosquitoes away last night, and I'm afraid all it did was give them a scent trail to follow to dinner. Thanks anyway, I'll stick to my usual...

We finally got our shingrex shot yesterday...we got on the list in October...the pharmacist at Costco said the shortage is likely over...he heard that it was started because a tractor trailer of the medicine had been lost and spoiled.??? ...said no trouble getting the 2nd shot in 6 months.

Thanks for the reminder, Wng. I'd forgotten all about signing up for the Shingrex at Costco, apparently about the same time you did. Still no word here, so maybe there's another reason for the shortage at this end of the country?

Whipper is ready for the scorching summer heat with her new booties to protect her pads from getting burned. She was wondering why she didn't have these with all the grass burs in the country.

Glad to see Whipper so comfortable in her new slippers, Don. Some dogs aren't quite so smart...

It's 28° again this morning. It looks like we got about 3 more inches of snow overnight. Today is going to be partly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. With a high around 55° and windy.

The tornadoes are few and far between out here in this part of the west. I shouldn't be complaining about the snow, it could be a lot worse. The closest I have been to tornado was back in the late 70's. I was driving over the road, my team driver and I stopped at a truck stop in Pennsylvania to take a shower. While we were there a thunderstorm moved through. There was no warming of a tornado. When we were getting ready to get back on the road people were talking about the tornado. We hadn't gone more then a mile when we seen the damage along the interstate. It makes me think that a little snow isn't all that bad.

We didn't make to town yesterday so that's the plan for today.

Hope all the projects of the day goes well for everyone.
CWB.

Good Morning!!!! 57F @ 6:00 AM. Sun and clouds mixed. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible. High 79F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Sounds like you had a very good day, Bird!

No sense rushing things, Bill. Best to savor that mulching experience by putting it off as long as possible!

Kinda like my tractor repair: I picked up the nut I needed yesterday, but forgot all about also needing hydraulic fluid.

But I did complete all sorts of other errands in town yesterday, including picking up an old propane tank for a Vanagon that a fellow had replaced instead of reconditioned. I reconditioned the one I already had, but couldn't let this one pass as it was being given away and seemingly needed a good home. Might use it for gray water, or ???. Didn't feel right just picking it up for free, so I stopped in at the Safeway grocery store just down the street and picked up a selection of wines; they offer a 10% discount when you buy six, and the helpful wine buyer there made sure I left with eight.:D One of which Brian, my new propane tank friend and fellow Vanagon owner, picked to enjoy later with his wife later in the day. And who, by the time I made it back home, had messaged me asking for help locating a new distributor for his van. My parts van may have what he needs, but the one on it is very likely worn out, too, but I was able to pass along several sources where he might find a new one.

And speaking of vans, mine ran pretty much as expected yesterday: nice and smooth until I engaged the decoupler and the drive shaft and front differential started spinning, and vibrating. So it's either the drive shaft or the front diff, not the tires, not the transaxle, and probably not the front axles or CV joints. I say probably, because the vibration at 65 MPH was gone, which might implicate the CVs/axles, which I'd planned to rebuild anyway. It turns out the ex-mechanic now has another victim's, er, customer's, van with a vibration problem, and he called me last night to ask how to fix it:shocked: Good question, I wish I knew...

Finished the evening with a camp fire, the wood for which had been in the pit for several weeks, and rains, yet was surprisingly dry. It took right off with only a single dousing of #2, a sign that the surrounding countryside is also getting baked to a crisp and is primed for wildfire. Fed it with a bunch of "confidential" stuff I don't trust to the trash, and also some expired prescription medication I couldn't dispose of at any of the local pharmacies.:confused2: Two of which were inhalers, which made surprisingly loud pops when they went off, before which I'd retreated safely behind the bead blaster to avoid getting hit with any shrapnel. The things we do in the name of safety...

Today I find myself in an opportunity rich environment: I could put the tractor back together and reclaim the use of the jack stands now holding it up, or I could pull the front diff off the van and see if anything obvious looks bad inside, or I could work in the big dirt bike and get it ready for a campout down south next weekend. Gosh, seems like a no brainer which one gets done first...

I see I'm not the only one that's busy; many of you need to slow down because you're making the rest of us look bad. :confused2::eek::laughing:

And David, for cryin' out loud, put some steel toed boots on when you're doin' stuff like that. The last thing I wanna read about is you with a new pair of plaster casts on your feet, acting like one of those poor dogs in the video!

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, weekend eve!

TGIF!:drink:

70°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 91° today. We're expecting 80s and rain all weekend.

Congrats, Buppies. Great news.

We have some places near us like that, Bird. Our favorite is called Blue Springs Cafe just off I-70 near Pierron/Highland IL. They serve "family style" meals. On Fridays, they have all-you-can-eat breaded walleye, and it's fantastic. Like your chicken, though, we can never get past the first serving. Comes with endless mashed potatoes and white gravy, green beans, cole slaw, pickled beets, and a basket with bread rolls and corn bread muffins and apple butter. They are also semi-famous for their "foot high pies," which are really just about 1" of pie and 11" of meringue. We never make it to dessert.

Good Morning Everyone!!!!!

A breezy overcast 56ºF for today’s low temperature; a breezy 57ºF presently; and I anticipate clearing skies and a breezy afternoon in the mid 60ºF’s. A matinee movie and an “early bird” dinner is today’s plan. It keeps Wifey happy. ;) Weekend looks to be a mixed weather weekend. Our exBIL comes from a military family. We will be doing a day trip down to CT to celebrate (Sunday) Memorial Day with them. Rain showers with possible T-storms anticipated. I’ve been close to tornadoes, but never that close. I have experienced a straight line microburst that killed a guy in his car when an old maple tree crushed him in his VW. I saw the tree fall on him ~ 50 yards away from the “safety” of a State Park First Aid station. The skid portable station was moving sideways in that downburst. I was on scene. He was definitely dead. I had my sailboat’s mast in the water in another microburst. I was one of the few sailboats on the lake that did not turtle in that storm. That Lake is 6 miles long. I watched it coming my way and had enough time to drop sails and batten down.

The NWS called me before the tornado that tore up Springfield, MA for a weather update. I did get a picture of a funnel forming overhead with that weather event.

Buppies- Great news!!!

Kyle- My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for your daughter, you, and the rest of your family.

David- A professional looking cutout and another creative idea of yours as to how to lift the cut sections.

Bill- From what I read the less contact your cats have with your treated clothing the better. I am waiting for a calm day to spray my clothing and footwear outside.

Don- Whipper looks good decked out in those booties.

BEF- Awesome weather picture. Thanks for sharing,:cool;

Billy- I doubt that any of our dogs would ever have tolerated booties.

RNG- Sawyer makes great insect repellant products. SSS seemed more like a biting insect attractor for me as well; a smelly human buffet line.

I hope everyone is having a manageable day.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

I've experienced tornadoes up close and personal on two occasions. Once was in the small house in St. Jacob. On the way to the basement, I stopped in the kitchen to watch the neighbor's trees twisting across the alley, and could feel the walls moving. That one only skipped over the town with little damage, but destroyed some barns outside of town. The other time in '06 The (future) Wife and I drove into the back end of one on our way into Highland to pick up dinner. Those were sights and sounds you never forget; things flapping sideways, chunks of a church roof bouncing off my minivan, and power lines dropping in the road in front of us. The noise was incredible. That EF1 did a fair amount of damage to Highland.

Cant wait, will deliver next week. I changed mind and took ktac insurance instead of using my homeowners, because if i goof, and run into a tree or something, ktac covers it. Not that im planning on it.
But i wonder if i should have put the money to a suspension seat.

Had to come in early, my sinus's are acting up so bad outside i feel like im chocking. Will try to take a 1300 mg med for it, they chock me also.

Got some more pins in the garden weed block, although i notice lots of weeds sprouting under it. Bought more pins on amazon.

Removed backboard from the older basketball pole. Will remove pole with backhoe later.

Got RFM back on massey. Was going to sharpen blades while cool this am, maybe in little bit.

Oldest son has 2 project interviews today, to see what project to put him on. He said first went well.

Good morning to all! Low of 40, going up to 74, NO WIND! YIPEE! Sunny for all weekend.

Buppies, great news! Prayers for continued healing.

Kyle, extra prayers for your daughter, you, and your family. Take care.

Bird, you probably made a good choice to just stay home.

Drew, enjoy your stay, always good to see old 'friends'...

Rng, I hope you get to isolate the vibration. I know what project your going to work on first....it has 2 wheels..

I got 3/4 of the weed-wacking done yesterday, the last of it will be done this morning. Another realtor coming this afternoon so we can get a "second opinion" on the house. Maybe some other outdoor stuff if they leave early enough.

Have some folks coming tomorrow to pick up quite a few household items and beds to be donated to the needy. It's great that they come and get everything, saves me a bunch of work.

Going to get going.... Lots to do....

Prayers sent for all, everyone have a safe and fun weekend!

BEF, that is one awesome looking pic. BUT I do not like the storm that would come with it.

Ronjhall, I am switching my new laptop to chrome and by the fall this 'puter will be on win 10 and chrome.

That is exactly what I tell the guys that come north with me. You drive your truck to the best of YOUR ability. I will NEVER lose someone that is trying to follow me.

Off to town, return saw to HD, breakfast with wife errands

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Good Morning. It was 76°F here earlier and forecast says 89°F this afternoon. Humidity stays high as well.

I'm thinking A/C cab tractor mowing is in the plan today.

Hope everyone has an excellent Memorial Day Weekend and that we take time to remember the real reason for Memorial Day. It has nothing to do with "big sales".

My younger Brother and Sister will visit our parents graves in the Iowa Veteran's Cemetery west of Des Moines this weekend. Dad was Army, Mom was Navy.

Prayers to all ..... extra for Kyle's Daughter.

Prayers for your girl Kyle.
Great news Buppies!

79° headed to 83 or so. Windy and bright sun today. Yesterday’s storm dropped .21 inches of rain in 15 minutes. Got pitch dark at 6 pm. No damage here.

My son and his family are here for the weekend, he will be 43 on the 31st, not sure where the years went.
