I checked again, 104 degrees, that's just nuts for May, much less August
And here Claye is getting snowed on again.
I set my hvac on 78 degrees before I left, they will be sucking up some electric for sure.

about ready to head out to dinner, had nice lunch with old doctor friend, truly good to see old friends. We sat out on his patio in 75 degree weather and looked over the lush green lawns.

Extra prayers for your daughter Kyle.

David, I hope the last 8 feet is not as bad as last weeks last few feet.

Thank all of you for the prayers. She is remarkably better today. Last 10 days have been rough for her.

Ron- hope y'all enjoy your trip.

BEF - I would be looking for cover under that storm, awesome pic. Hope your mower is a good one.

Bird, staying around the house ourselves.

Don- wondering if she liked the booties or not?

Jay- happy wife, happy life. Hope the movie and food was good.

Drew- glad your getting to see old friends and enjoying the weather.

I've been "Drew" busy, and now I'm "Drew" wore out.

Got my mom's car A/C repaired. Turns out it just needed a new blower motor resistor module. But every now and then, it seems the fresh air/recirculate blend door gets confused. Maybe because I was punching the buttons too fast and it got confused.

Went to wally world to test drive it and so far, so good.

Ordered the dump truck guy to bring some sand for the pool pad. Did some shredding prior to him getting here. Then put the box blade on the tractor, and started on the pad for the equipment carport.

Put the pole saw together and sawed off some limbs that were over the carport area.

Came inside to rest up a bit, and my mom and daughter had started making some more dewberry jelly. I ended up getting in the middle of it so that it would come out right. Recipe called for 7 cups of sugar, only had about 5.5, hope it will jell ok. Tastes so delicious. I wish y'all were here for a taste.

I need to go back outside and work on the pool pad...good thing sand is easy to spread.

Good evening all. 76F this morning, overcast, moderate wind. Wind was gusty again today, clouds cleared off, and high temp was 87F. Bike ride this morning, after lunch and nap, trip to town and get the paperwork started so they will bring car down.
David forgot to mention what a nice job you did on the saw job:ashamed:
Don, tell whipper nice boots:cool:
Drew hope your helpers will take good care of your garden. Have fun up north.
RNG my money is on the dirt bike work first :D
prayers for all.

Opted for energy conservation/mental health day after getting back from town.
Amazing how an $85/day tool rental ends up being $160.94.

Took the backhoe off tractor, put on middle buster then changed point to subsoiler. Quick test and looks like it should get remaining concrete. I did have to cut a section of rebar that was deeper than saw cut. Cold chisel and hammer to get surrounding concrete so reciprocating saw could get to job. PITA, but happy to see the concrete was about 6+ inches this at this edge with the rebar replaced. Only about 10 minutes, so hard to count as real work.
Need to fashion a 4 inch point to trench for the pipe. I think the subsoiler can be more efficient than me digging by hand.

Thanks for all the support and good thoughts. 🤙

Well, you're mostly right, Eric. I tried out the Nice'n'Soft to keep the mosquitoes away last night, and I'm afraid all it did was give them a scent trail to follow to dinner.

RNG, I was thinking about Don's coyote (why does that remind me of a Spanish knight ? - Don Quixote !) when I said no one got bitten.

Nice'n'Soft could be more effective on one of those critters - if you threw the bottle hard enough

Good morning, this could be our last day of fine weather for a while. I don't mind as I am just about on top of spraying for a while.

Despite me spot spraying to get rid of as much ragwort as I can at rosette stage, most other spring flowering plants are welcome in the hay meadow. I try hard to nuke only a tiny amount of ground with my sprayer lance.

65 going to 85, rain storm hopefully this afternoon.

Eric, good one.

I tried Skin So Soft years ago to keep no-see-ums away at Cape Lookout - didn't like the results...some others did, however. I found the best approach was to just leave the island :).

Kyle, you've been busy!

45 right now...high in the lower 70's and rain.

Chores to consist mainly of picking up meds (blood pressure and something for my aching back) at the pharmacy. I'd like to get the lawn mowed, but it's probably too wet for that. Heavier rain predicted for tonight into Sunday, so if I don't get it done today...probably isn't going to get done until Monday at the soonest.
So...maybe I'll just take the weekend off...

Drinking first cup of coffee. 56° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 80° with scattered thunderstorms mid day. Yesterday was a great pleasant day touring around the countryside. My cousin did the driving. Not sure what today will bring. Still have 40 bags of mulch to spread.

Lots of flowers and wildlife as we drove around. This one caught my eye. It was in a greenhouse.

David, glad the cutting is done. A little digging and the new LP line will be in.

RNG, get the bike done first.

Eric, great picture.

Don, our dog would never let me put booties on her. So I took here to dog park in a wagon. Also the black top streets in parks made her feet black.

Randy, Happy Birthday to your son.

May the best of your today be the worst of your tomorrow.

Good Morning All.

Good Morning! 74˚F before sunrise heading to the 90s.

RNG that dog in boots youtube made me laugh. Whipper did act like she was stepping in snow for the first block but after that she walked normal.

Drew, good looking box of veggies. I need to run to the garden this morning. I'm also taking care of a neighbors who went on vacation.

Some in the garden use their plot for flowers.

Good Morning!!!! 57F @ 4:15AM. Showers early, then partly cloudy for the afternoon. High around 75F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 50%.

About 9:30 last night the wind started blowing and the sky light up with lightning flashes as a large thunderstorm cell passed a few miles to the east. Just after I went to bed an hour later, the phone rang when the authorities left a recorded message that the storm was in the area?!? By then, the storm had moved completely out of the area. This is the same warning system that sent the warnings about the Camp Fire either too late or not at all. Clearly more work is needed...

Looking at the long range forecasts, it looks like afternoon mountain showers may linger into next weekend as well, and that may wash out plans for a camp out in the southern Sierra foothills. I'll have to keep an eye on that one.

And now there's another large cell bearing down from the north, making enough noise to wake me up. From the looks of the radar track, I don't think this one will miss.

Glad the Whip likes her new booties, Don. Some of the dogs in that video were chewing on theirs, trying to get them off.

Don, Ron & Eric, beautiful flowers! Thanks for sharing the photos. We've had so much rain that the lupines have regrown and blossomed again in the lower meadow I cut last month.

Well, I did get some work done on the motorcycle yesterday, but started off putting the original drive shaft back in the van and taking it for a drive. Had to loosen the transaxle and front differential mounts to let the two move a quarter inch closer together first, though, as whoever put them in to begin with apparently just made a guess as to where they should be. It made no difference in the vibrations, which were present in the 25 and 45 MPH ranges, but missing again at 65+. So the smoking gun is pointing at the front differential, so it'll be next on the list to come out.

A new-to-me center stand for the motorcycle was delivered yesterday morning, so I finished the day test fitting it and making some weld repairs. It came from the same model as the exhaust system I'm using, and features a well placed lever to step on when hefting the bike up onto the stand. Unfortunately I got my paint job started a little late, and ended up finishing in the dark using a flashlight to see what I was doing. And what I saw were lots of runs that dripped paint onto the patio.:muttering: Good thing it's mostly out of site under the bike, as it's certainly not a very good example of my best work.

This rainy day wil be good for more motorcycle wrenching, and maybe some reading up on what's inside that differential.

Hope everyone enjoys their Memorial Day weekend, and remembers the fallen that gave all to preserve the way of life we all enjoy.

As far as I'm concerned, that's too hot for anytime anywhere. 72 degrees here this morning, a bit cloudy and going for a high of 89. Just finished second cup of coffee; gotta go get another one.
