Drinking first cup of coffee. 45° with light fog this morning. Heading to 74° with mostly cloudy skies. If winds stay low will try to put weed killer down. Off to local Memorial Day Parade if wife is up to it. Then BBQ on the grill. Hope to conserve energy after that.

Eric, good video. I ran my boat through some locks like that in Canada.

Kyle, kids will appreciate the pool when it is done.

Good morning! 74˚F heading to the 90s.
Eric what a shame to have to take all that down after a week. I guess If someone wanted to see a garden before they bought it that would be the place to go and then just tell them to disassemble it and take it to my house.

Got to get a move on. The roads by Moms are back to gravel while they resurface them and the visit yesterday made the dark gray car look 10 years older. So, this morning I need to walk the Whop, wash the car, and get over to the Memorial Day festivities before 9 AM to view the flyover and listen to the patriotic music of the Camp Mabry band.

Have fun setting up the pool Kyle. How deep will it be?

Good Morning. It's 71°F here and calm. Forecast is for 90°F and very humid ..... 95% now.

I never got to mowing, around the house, yesterday so .... that's first business today. Then we'll see what else comes up.

Looks like 38° for the low this morning and overcast. Today we have a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms with a high in the low 50's. Yesterday wasn't to bad partly cloudy with a brisk wind and a high in the mid 50's.

The neighbor and I went for a ride around the subdivision yesterday. It looks like the weather kept a lot of people home this weekend. There wasn't very many people up this year. Kind of different for a holiday weekend.

I'm not sure what I'll be doing today.

Good morning to all! Low of 40, going up to 78. Breezy / windy with gusts to 40 this afternoon. Yesterday afternoon, "dry thunderstorms" rolled across about 4pm, couple of sprinkles, mainly wind. Those storms developed 9 tornadoes in the north and south of here, moving out to Texas and Oklahoma.

Got some stuff done yesterday, just at a slow pace. Grilled last night, turned out good, just burgers and dogs. Today doing a meatloaf in the smoker with some veggies.

Jay, I hope you're still brace free!

Drew, hope you're enjoying your trip!

Kyle, hope the pool gets set up w/o any difficulty, I'm sure the kids hope so too!:thumbsup:

Neat garden Eric.always wanted a water feature, but it never gets past a thought.

My grandfather was in the army during WW1. Not sure what his role was. He passed when i was 3.

Spend some moments reflecting about the freedoms and liberties we enjoy because of those that gave all.

Like pool swimming on Memorial Day. Kids are already in, even though it is only half filled.

Wife says may have been my best roast yet. Cooked hers to 150°F about 4 hours, pulled mine at 120°F at 225° fire then put them back in about 10 minutes to brown up after resting. Seasoned the corn with a bit of olive oil, pepper, & garlic salt. Microwaved 5 min before finishing on the Primo. The sweet potatoes were sweet and flavorful.

A good vet could have that steak back on it's feet in 10 minutes.

I know many of you appreciate a nice garden with a pond - have you ever heard of the Chelsea flower show ? It's an annual highly competitive event where plant lovers congregate to see temporary gardens that are constructed, displayed to the public for a week, then dismantled again.

This year the "winner" of the event was to me an absolute stunner. Someone had the idea to create a pair of leaking canal lock gates as a water feature in a "garden" that looked like it had been there for decades.

Interesting video on how they built it too, if you like that sort of thing.

I love flyovers, but they don't last long enough. Love airshows. I should take the kids to one. Need to look that up. My friends moved to Dayton Ohio about a year and a half ago. I'm betting they have a good one there. Last good airshow my wife and I attended was at Randolph AFB. Went to a good one at Ellington AFB about 25 years ago.

Need to get back on leveling the equipment shed pad. I made up a water level to do the pool's pad. It worked fantastic.

Happy Memorial Day Everyone and Good Morning to My/Our “Foreign” Friends!!!

A beautiful clear and sunny 42ºF for today’s low temperature; a clear and sunny 69ºF presently; and I anticipate a clear and sunny afternoon with temperatures in the mid 70ºF’s. Walk #1 resulted in 12 ticks on Brogen; 0 on me. DEET has been working for me this week. . Today’s plan= lube the tractor and tiller, till the garden, and repot all our remaining 6 packs and vege and herb starts.

It was a long day yesterday traveling to CT and back, but worth it. Mr. Knee did mildly complain. No brace since Saturday. I plan on some rock moving tomorrow; I’ll be wearing it then,

Kyle- Good luck with the aboveground pool. During/after college I worked installing “Esther Williams” above ground pools. If the sand pad is really level the installation goes relatively well. Pounding the liner with a push broom during the fill up really helps taking out the wrinkle in the liner. We had “0 Tolerance for Wrinkles” in our liner installation. As to bears I do not think my S&W .357 would do anything but PO the bear unless I was really lucky….. and yes I have “carried “dealing with bears trashing a “bear proof” garbage storage container and scattering the trash all over the property. I looked pretty foolish for the locals driving by seeing me armed and picking that “dangerous trash.” Once a bear was sleeping on one of our vehicles; FWIW the .357 makes for a loud popgun that does scare bears. It appears that the bears are terrified by Wifey the Bear Scarer.

David- Your roast reads like awesome eats and thanks for the white sweet potato info, I like my beef, lamb, and tuna rare.. I plan on smoking/roasting a now rarely cooked/eaten boneless leg of lamb in the next day or two and like you it will be a low and slow event. It will have an anchovy paste/garlic/fresh rosemary paste covering for a crust.

Good Morning!!!! 57F @ 8:30AM. Cloudy skies early, followed by partial clearing. High 71F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

This morning started off with a brief rain shower that only left 0.02", barely enough to wet the patio. Yesterday was a different matter, when that morning shower dropped almost 3/4". Several more rain clouds passing through during the day made for dodgy doings for anything outside; I got wet carrying the garbage can up to the cul-de-sac for pickup. The rest of this week looks clear and dry, with temperatures nearing the century mark by the end of next weekend.

The new center stand for the big dirt bike makes it very easy to put the bike on the stand, almost just by standing on it. But folded up it fouls the muffler, which meant the plate supporting the muffler had to be lengthened so the muffler could be moved to the rear. It also looks like the little stub of a tube emerging from the exhaust collector could use another inch of length, so that's what I'll tackle today.

How wonderful this country of ours has turned out, thanks in no small part to the sacrifices of those that came before us. Keep them in mind this Memorial Day.

The fly over missing man formation for our neighborhood service. Senator Cruz gave the keynote speach reminding everyone that it wasn’t the politicians that gave us our freedom rights it was the soldiers who fought and died.

I mowed the back yard with the rider. Goes up hill when cold, by the time i was done would barely go up a gentle slope.

Corn and beans are coming up in garden.

Grilled Brats and hotdogs for lunch. Wife made cheesy potatoes in crockpot. Was real good.

Laying on glider on front porch, listening to the birds and other noises. Tractor running in the distance. I love it when no cars go by. Our neighbors 3 legged cat, that lives here just saw me and ran over. Some dark clouds rolling in.

The beautiful day continues.

It took ~ 1 hour, but after many expletives and start overs my brand new grease gun finally pressurized. I probably spent as much time getting that grease gun working as I did tilling the garden. Not a good year for the rock crop; I am not unhappy. I hope that the weather remains dry enough this week to give me the opportunity to dig out the garden’s old asparagus bed and its surrounding Goshen (flagstone) Stone border.

RNG- Thanks for the link. My S&W Model #65 .357 could handle those rounds. My other handgun is a very functional collector’s item WWII artifact- a Femaru P37 7.65mm pistol. I think I could do more damage throwing it at a bear than shooting it. My Dad traded it for 2 cartons of cigarettes after the War. I have it, its holster, and two clips all with matching serial #’s. One clip jams.

It was a honor to work with the WWII Vets living out their remaining lives in longterm care. It was a privilege to hear their life stories and their military experiences…. I spent today remembering some of those “painful things” they had to “let go” before their time on this earth came to its fruition. I wish more of today’s generation had the opportunities to share life stories with the “Greatest Generation” like most of us.

Home sweet home. Out the door at 5am as the day turned lighter, and low traffic made the whole trip enjoyable, and more than an hour shorter than
the trip up. 31mpg too, that impressed me for keeping up at 75mph.
So after driving for 8 hours I immediately watered veggies for two hours, and then picked some cukes and squash.
Lot of wilted plants, I think my volunteer might have missed a few areas...
Days continue in high 90's here.

Need to drink a lot of water, put my feet up, and read my book til I fall asleep.
Sure am looking forward to my own mattress too, motel one was way too hard for me.

Had nice visit with my MIL, she made a beautiful stuffed pepper lunch and a cherry pie.
She's looking pretty frail and shaky but doing her best. And she was delighted with the one little
yellow patty pan squash I brought up for her. Just my size she said.
