Good Morning!!!! 68F @ 7:45AM. Sunny. High 93F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.
Lots of very healthy vegetables this morning! What a treat guys, thanks for sharing!
Tires and belts from overseas have been flaky for a long time, but now the environmental regs are making it difficult to produce durable goods in this country, too. Not my idea of progress.
Speaking of long days, I was invited to attend an event for CCW holders held by the county sheriff's department at their fairly new training facility yesterday. It started at 7:00AM with check in and of course coffee and donuts, and a brief welcome by our sheriff, the same guy that steered the department through the Oroville Dam Spillway fiasco his first year and the Camp Fire his second one. We learned we'd tour in groups of 6-8 people through seven stations, four involving simulations, two live fire, and one first aid. Each lasted about 45 minutes, and all but the first aid station presented real life scenarios any of us might encounter on the street or even in our homes. Four of the stations involved the use of Glock training pistols that fired paint cartridges, and three scenarios involved deputies posing as bad guys that shot back with blanks. In one of those scenarios I was attacked by my local deputy wielding first a knife, and when he didn't respond to my commands to drop it, he pulled a gun and my shooting ended the scenario. I apologized to him for the hits, which he said didn't hurt except for the ones on his fingers on his weapon's grip.
We were all impressed with the facility, the depth of training our deputies get regularly, but most of all, the gravity of the situations they deal with regularly, and that we as CCW holders may also some day encounter. Tireed as I was last night, I didn't sleep well with all that rattling around in my head.
More dinking around in the garage today; I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend.
