Good Morning!!!! 65F @ 5:30AM. Abundant sunshine. High around 90F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.

Nice cave pic, Wng. No wind to disturb the water deep underground, huh?

Are your melon plants producing up to par, Drew?

Hope you get the results you're looking for on the tests, Bird.

Good luck with that 2N, DAB. Hope it's something simple.

This hot weather has brought on algae blooms in the local waterways, and now some are testing positive for toxins. Warnings to stay out of the water, not eat the fish, and keep children and dogs away. Never heard of this when I was a kid, and I wonder if it's always been that way and there was no way of telling?

Headed over closer to the coast for an old fashioned Forth of July in one of the smaller towns. Parade, fireworks, good food, and some motorcycling. Hope everyone enjoys the holiday!:firecracker:

Have they ever investigated aeration with submerged air stones and air pumps RNG?

headed downtown with my melons, the larger lighter green ones are Clay County Yellow Meat watermelons and the
small ones are icebox red melons, maybe Crimson Sweet

I've always liked yellow meat watermelons, but they are sure hard to find around here. The last one I bought (3 or 4 years ago) was at the local 3 day a week Farmer's Market. I got it home split it . . . only to find that it was a long ways from being ripe; absolutely worthless.

Good Morning. Its 73°F and very foggy here this morning. Forecast says we'll see only 87°F this afternoon with 30-50% chance of rain.

I'll spend the day getting ready for Independence Day guests.

Wng ... very nice picture.

Mr. Bird ...Good luck with your tests today.

Roy .... hope your wife gets better.

DAB ... hope you can get your 2N going. Fuel, air, spark. That's all you need. . Points, coil, plugs?

Hope everyone has an excellent "Hump Day Eve".

Prayers to all.

Good morning all,

50 something this morning and a few white puffy clouds around with no wind.

Have a few things to do this morning then I might rake my field so it'll be ready to bale tomorrow.

Prayers for all, have a nice day.

Good morning to all! Low of 52, cool and crisp this morning. We had a quick t-storm roll through yesterday afternoon, only .25 of rain, but that was welcome. Another chance (20%) today. Going up to 90 today.

Got the third and final shot in the knee yesterday. The knee was swollen when I arrived at the Dr's office, so he got a surprise. All of my other appointments had been very early so the swelling wasn't as bad. He now "believes" me when I told him that it usually swells by mid day. He says the shots have a 50/50 chance of helping within the next 30 days. Then a reevaluation and ??? Not exactly what I wanted to hear. The knee was very uncomfortable last night and this morning, not the results that I was anticipating. Oh well.

The neighbor lady (70ish and on her own) got a Cub Cadet tractor delivered yesterday. She was anticipating that she could just jump on it and go..... Nope ....it's in a crate and needs some assembly and setup. Guess who she asked to do it? That's ok, it will be fun and give me something to do. I wish they delivered it here...would be easier to put it together in the shop. She doesn't even have a car port, so it will be in the gravel drive. She has no tools, so I'll be going back and forth for tools I'm sure....

Wng, nice pics of the cavern. Reminds me of a motorcycle trip wifey and I took to Carlsbad Caverns. It was an all day trip in the caverns and we still didn't get to see everything down there...it was huge!

Randy, hope your still recovering, the big day is approaching fast!

Jay, glad your enjoying your mini trips...all beautiful areas.

David, thanks for the pics, can't wait to see the next batch. Have fun and enjoy!

Don, you gotta be careful with those bubble snakes, I hear that they make a popping sound just before they attack!

Drew, nice melons! (Mmmm, that doesn't sound right....)

Everyone have a great day! Prayers sent for all!

76°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 90° today with a chance for some pop-up storms this afternoon. iThingie weather widget shows a chance for storms every day for the foreseeable future. Great.

Got home from work yesterday and took the line trimmer for a walk. That was a sweaty ordeal, but needed to be done. I was covered with beggar's lice when I finished the area around the side of the barn. There was a message on the home phone that the zero-turn is ready for pick-up. Be nice to have that back in service.

I generally try to avoid killing snakes as well, Drew. 90% or better around here aren't poisonous, and help keep the rodent population in check.

77 this morning and headed to 90 today. HI 88 headed to 103.

I am headed to pickup a tractor from BIL. I’ve got to get chicken houses washed so I’ll be spending next 2 days soaked in water so HI shouldn’t bother me too bad. Dealer wants $500 to change $35 wheel seal. Wife says let them as I don’t have time and it can be ready when I get back from vacation. So I get to schedule that today and hopefully I’ll drop it off Friday. Not really impressed with the hours of service I got from that seal. But I also do a lot of loader work and have noticed quite a bit of wear on pins already also. I do try to use rear ballast when I can but sometimes it just isn’t possible. Mainly feeding hay. Take out two bales, well there’s a point you have to lift one bale without ballast. Plenty of stability just a lot of pressure on axle.

Integrator was out yesterday and marked off for fence on free range birds. I’m not looking forward to this fiasco. Really dreading it. Are happy chickens worth unhappy producers?

Roy. Hope your wife gets better.

Drew maybe you won’t find a pallet of other watermelons at food bank this week. Did you make a years supply of pickles from your unneeded cucumbers?

Pretty sure there's no budget to cover the thousands of acres of lake surface effected by the algae, Rick. Might work in a small pond, though.

Actually RNG the deeper the defuser the more water it treats. Placing that thing down a couple hundred feet will treat a lot of water. More time for the water to absorb the oxygen. A system for my 12 foot deep 1 acre lake was about 2k. But I could go with a smaller unit if I dug the lake out to 20 feet.

I hope so, I haven't seen how much "assembly is required", but I don't think it should be a lot. She asked if I would do all the maintenance on it, so assembling it will just get me familiar with it.

I have been told that the algae bloom at the lake is caused mostly by runoff and the fertilizer some put on the lawn.

Reminds me of a motorcycle trip wifey and I took to Carlsbad Caverns.

My first trip to see the Carlsbad Caverns was when I graduated from high school in 1958. Two friends went with me in my 1956 Mercury convertible. Twenty years later, my wife and I went out there in our new Plymouth Roadrunner. In those days, I worked different shifts, different day off, etc. so I worked the Labor Day holiday and had a 3 day weekend the next week. So I called a motel out there to make reservations for us and I thought the lady I talked to seemed a bit odd. When we got there, I saw why. We were the ONLY customers they had that weekend right across the road from the White Buffalo Saloon. At least it wasn't crowded taking the cavern tour.

I agree...saw an "Impossible Whopper" - Burger King commercial on TV watching the Orioles baseball game last night. I haven't been in a fast food place in a long time, so don't know if they are selling them locally.
Glory days have them. Are they down your way? Personnally i like the bison burgers.

58°F and rain here in Vancouver. Head for airport shortly for plane to Seattle, then Kona, grab rental car and home. Be nice to be back in own bed.

Had good enough wifi to get caught up superficially on GM, WOW, everyone super busy as always and I couldn’t begin to comment.

Will post some more pics after getting home.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

owner of Massey dealership told me he had some sweet corn he picked that morning for me, so drove up to his shop, he gave me way too much corn, but
I'll give it away to others today and tomorrow. I gave their staff cukes so it was a veggie swap.

fairly rare shade of orange in the shop, don't see a lot of Agco equipment here, larger ones like this built in France, Masseys have different decals and paint.
Old girl waiting for service, sold in this shop many years ago.

I have been told that the algae bloom at the lake is caused mostly by runoff and the fertilizer some put on the lawn.

Here's some guidance from Texas A&M. First you need to determine what type of algae you're dealing with.

https://agrilifecdn.tamu.edu/fisher...-Controlling-Algae-in-Ponds-Manual-format.pdf

Quick Facts: The quickest way to treat algae in ponds is with copper based algaecides such as chelated copper complexes or copper sulfate. However, integrated management practices are the most effective way to manage algae in ponds and prevent it from quickly re- turning after an algaecide treatment. A combi- nation of the following typically produces more effective, long term algae control: aera- tion; creating a 10’ to 20’ buffer zone around the pond with taller vegetation to filter excess nutrients; decreasing the amount of fertilizer used on lawns and forage fields near the pond; preventing livestock from defecating in or near the pond; locating septic fields far away from ponds; deepening the edges to a slope of 2:1 decline; or a chemical treatment followed by a fertilization program for the good planktonic algae in the pond.

62 going to 92.

Roy, hope your wife is feeling better when she gets up today.

There are reasonably priced handgun vaults that allow a loaded firearm be kept on a bedside table safely, and the gun to be accessed in a under a couple of seconds. I recommend this one:

RAPiD(R) Safes - Hornady Manufacturing, Inc

Eric, the bears are still coming up to the house...they lie down under one of the bird feeder hanging trees, about 15 feet from the house, licking up any spilled seeds. Saw them night before last at about 9pm. We bring in all the "portable" bird feeders each night, and empty the permanent ones, but the goldfinches spill so many sunflower seeds during the day that there are enough to interest the bears. We have ID'ed a family of 3 and a different family of 2, based on size and on a spot of missing hair on one. I have 5 game cams spread around and have been getting pix, day and night on all of them.

We took a day trip over the mountains to the Shenandoah Valley yesterday. We toured Luray Caverns and their antique car museum. Haven't been since I was a kid. They have made many improvements...added an outdoor museum with old valley buildings and barns...moved an old Mennonite meeting house there and in the inside museum they have the 1536 German Bible they used. A very nice display of old valley life.

This pic is of some smaller formations, but the reflecting pool made it special.

Suzette is doing much better, thank you!

I keep one pistol loaded...but nothing in the chamber. The safe looks interesting...I'll have to give that a closer look

Luray Caverns! Boy, it's been a long long time since I went there!
