Good morning! It's 52° this morning with expected high of 74° this afternoon. Nice! BUT ... back to mid 90's this weekend. Groan! Summer will just not give up. The rain yesterday was disappointing ... as in less than 1/8".

Drew ... safe travels!

Randy ... your chili looked great. Happy belated birthday to Ellen!

David ... hope they can figure out your Toyota problem.

Eric ... sorry about your traffic issues.

Hope everyone has an excellent "Friday Eve".

Prayers to all.

44 going to 62. May get into the upper 30s tonight for first time this fall.

Whoppee!...we got over 1.5 inches of slow rain yesterday. Now I can get back to the regularly programmed outside activities.

Eric, cormorants are a pest here along the coast. Haven't seen them this far inland.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 42° with clouds and a brisk wind this morning. Heading to 51° with mostly cloudy skies. Got my grocery shopping done yesterday. Not much else it rained and was very windy all day.
My spring straightening on the golf cart did not go as good as I thought. When traveling on the road next to my house it has some handling problems. Measuring I found that rear axle is off by over 1/2". Got a OEM replacement spring. Hope to get it installed today.

Eric, Sorry about the traffic issue. Cormorants are a big problem on some Lake Erie Islands. Their dung has killed off all living other than them. They actually do Cormorants culling to keep the population down.

LS, hope your knee problems get solved soon.

David, electrical problems can be ongoing. Hope yours are not. After several techs went to a customers machine including me to solve a electronic problem. They sent one of our mechanical guys out on the job. He found a ground wire hanging behind a circuit board. Soldered it back in place. Problem solved. The chassis that my motorhome had many problems almost all of them related to bad connections and grounds. Mine did not have these kind of problems. It was coated with Fluid Film.

Drew, safe travels.

Randy, part of my shopping list yesterday included ingredients for Chili. Hope mine turns out as well as yours.

Good Morning All.

Good morning.
38 and going to a high of 43°F. Wind NNW 18 gusting to 40 mph. Rain, 60% chance. The weather guy says a light rain is falling. Weather it is 'light rain' or 'heavy rain', it is still wet. The only good thing about the rain is that I don't have to plow it.

The Dodge is going into the shop this afternoon (3 P.M.) for front wheel bearings. One is a little sloppy, so they can replace them both.

Thanks to the rain, I've got nothing to do today.

Happy motoring, Drew.

Have a good day all

Good Morning!!!! 58F @ 4:45AM. Morning clouds will give way to afternoon sunshine. High 71F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.
It did rain last night, dropping a whole 0.01", maybe enough to keep the dust down on the driveway, but probably not. That's OK; I didn't want to start a trip in the mud anyway.

Hope you have a smooth trip, Drew, and the new MH is as comfortable as you need. We all want to see you out on the road this summer for the big one, 'cause we all want to go along for the ride!

Interesting about the cormorants, Eric. I used to watch them fishing on one of the inland lakes I liked to bicycle around in the SF Bay Area. They seemed harmless enough, but like anything else, if left to excess, it means trouble.

Red bike's packed and ready, weather is drying out, and I'm looking forward to seeing some friends and new places. Likely I won't be posting over the next four days or so, though.

Yesterday I made a little video for the trucker that'll be delivering the shipping container, and hope to hear back that he thinks he's got enough room. Not sure what to do if he doesn't, other than get two 20' boxes instead of a single 40'er.

This is a photo, posted yesterday by one of my neighbors, of one of the C hooks just like the one that failed on the transmission tower that started the Camp Fire. In use, the hook would have been hanging 90° to the left, and the wear on the eye isn't visible. The towers are over 100 years old, and it's very easy to imagine that some C hooks wore more than the others. What is hard to imagine is that no one was sent to inspect them, on a regular basis, and they were left in service to the point of failure. That's not a design problem, and it's not a materials problem. It's what happens when management prioritizes shareholder profits over public safety. Now the utility says they're trying to catch up on all the deferred maintenance, and in clearing the brush away so there's nothing to burn when equipment fails. And fail it will, because there aren't enough people and there isn't enough money to fix everything all at once. So the only alternative is to continue to impose blackouts when the wind blows and moisture in the fuels drops to dangerous levels.

Good morning! A cold 48˚F before sunrise but the North winds will turn Easterly and temps will rise to 73˚F.

Actually use my truck yesterday to haul Mom's burn barrel and recyclables.

To relieve traffic problems our town is installing a "Diversion Diamond". The neighborhood blog is commenting that they will really be confused with it.

BEF that guy has a serious tractor addiction.

Our big deal with traffic is traffic circles very European

A while ago, county officials told us they were going to install a traffic circle, what I think Eric would call a roundabout, at a busy intersection on the route I travel to town. I immediately envisioned one of the grandiose euro style ones you see in big cities, and the traffic tie up while they built the monstrosity would be enormous. But instead, all they did was fill in the corners with some more asphalt, paint a 30' circle in the middle of it, and put up 20 MPH speed limit signs on all four feeders into it. They literally did all that overnight. And it's working out pretty well. It's also on a main north-south road that is handling a LOT of big dump trucks hauling debris from the Paradise fire clean up, and those drivers are very good at timing their arrival so they don't have to stop. And I've only had to jump my brakes for one jerk that failed to yield, everyone else patiently waits their turn.

Diverging Diamonds? Had to look that one up. Seems like you'd achieve the same result with right-turn-on-red, for a whole lot less money. And just looking at the potential for head-on collisions is enough to make me not want to go near one.
