Diverging Diamonds? Had to look that one up. Seems like you'd achieve the same result with right-turn-on-red, for a whole lot less money. And just looking at the potential for head-on collisions is enough to make me not want to go near one.

All is fine if everyone obeys the traffic signals but what happen if the electricity to the intersection is interrupted. Who has the right of way? Anyone?

Just like any other, gets treated as stop sign, take your turn.

Don, I'd suggest you always yield to something much bigger than you, like a semi....

oh what an interesting day. Left a half hour early and got here right at 1pm like I thought.
But not without incident.

I pull out in the dark and the nav system is stuck on "finding satellites". and it never ever did, turkey conked out on me the whole trip, still doesn't work.
My phone is a tiny apple and can't see the mapping at all. thank goodness I had been a little ocd about directions and had a complete set printed out for me.
Missed a few exits but got here.

so...pulling out of home and 1/4 mile down the road slammed on brakes to avoid a deer, maybe by 2 feet. Literally.
Then another half an mile down the road I almost had a heart attack.
I had never put away the shore power cord and pulled it out of the house and dragged it down the road a mile.
I sure felt like King Chump with that bone head maneuver. Now I knew the house side almost fell out, due to a surge protector I had on it.
so I jump out with heart pounding like mad, thinking that cord is toast. Nope.
more than a little scuffed up, but pins were mostly straight and when I plugged it in here the blue led lit up.
Oh happy days. Did not want to hunt one down plus concerned that receptacle on rv was messed up. Everything worked.
I felt about two inches tall after that maneuver...

got out to get fuel and wind blowing so hard slammed the door back on me, that didn't feel good. Turns out the water over the Pamlico River was the worst, I saw five footers in the River, that's big. But surprisingly when I got to the Chesapeake, no warning signs and smooth sailing. Stopped at scenic lookout and took a pic.

got everything hooked up and instant on hot water inop. Went through it all, finally wiggled a knob back and forth several times and light went on.
And hot water showed up. Yeah.

averaged 14mpg for the day, not bad in this wind. Now waiting for friends who will take me back to their home for a nice seafood dinner.
Campground is pretty deserted, kinda out in the middle by myself. Place shuts down in two weeks, so my timing was good.

Big box stores are putting the Mom and Pop stores right out of business.

Not sure I agree with that. I've always felt it is the consumers choosing to shop elsewhere who are putting the Mom & Pop stores out of business.

We have an IGA store in Trenton, and I mostly shop there. The Wife does go to the Walmart in Highland for some stuff that we can't find in the smaller store. There used to be three locally owned SuperValu grocery stores in our area, but they closed a couple years ago when the third generation owner decided to retire and had no succession plan in place. This left Carlyle IL with only Walmart, and Breese IL and Troy IL with no grocery stores at all.

Drew, something of a learning curve
Glad you made it safely.

So some like traffic circles and some do not. Some places, Dallas included, have taken out their traffic circles while others, such as Denton, TX, has a new one under construction at this time.

I'll never forget "The Circle" at Harry Hines Blvd and Northwest Highway. When I was a young patrolman, before the days of Interstate Highways, Harry Hines was THE highway in Dallas (U.S. 77) going to Oklahoma City, of course since replaced by I-35E. Now in the mid-60s there was almost no traffic on that highway after 1 a.m. at night. Although I'd been around the circle many, many times, I had no idea what it was like in the middle. There was a high berm all the way around the inside.

So one night after 2 a.m., I got a call on an accident at the circle. I drove there, went all the way around the circle and found nothing, no accident, no vehicles, and no people. I asked the dispatcher if he had anymore information and he said he did not; just an anonymous call reporting an accident. So I drove slowly around the circle until I noticed rubber marks where a tire had hit the inside curb on Harry Hines right at the circle, then I noticed a power pole IN the edge of the circle didn't look right. I got out and walked up for a closer look and found that a 4 door sedan had hit the curb approaching the circle, got airborn, went through the utility pole and the shattered ends simply came back together so the damage was hardly noticeable, and the car was upside down in the center of the circle; just couldn't be seen because of the berm around the inside of the circle.

No one in the car or anywhere around. I did my report, and it was turned it over to the detectives.

Drew, glad you made it safely. I have seen boaters drag their shore power cord out into the lake.

Got spring in golf cart. Handles much better. Couple of other things done also.

Did get my flu shot yesterday. Arm is a little sore from that.

Buppies, no more guesses.

Ian, welcome to Good Morning thread.

IanHatman- Welcome to TBN and GM. The site and this thread are valuable resources.

“…. Don, I'd suggest you always yield to something much bigger than you, like a semi….”- Drew. Around here it also applies to the rotaries…. There also seems to be a pecking order as to perception of more expensive > less expensive.

Drew- What a nice and seasonally secluded place to set up shop. I really like the pictures; thanks for sharing. I am happy your power cord and everything which it was attached came out essentially unscathed. I would bet that most of us here have made some “bonehead” moves. I do not know how far I drug my sailboat’s boom on the roadway before I noticed a boom block bouncing across the road in my rearview mirror. Fortunately for me although slightly scuffed everything still worked.

Happy Birthday Buppies!!!! I wish you many more in health and happiness. Did you get a 3/4 ton for your birthday????

“Downton Abbey” was a really decent movie if one followed the TV serial upon which it is based. The movie is well constructed; even for those who did not follow the series it tied together nicely. :). I could see another followup movie.
