I forgot it was Halloween, well a good day to everyone.
Heading in wrong direction of bad weather today, 2 hours West to Raleigh to get rv worked on . Then hopefully back before heavens
open up. Another windy rainy day, last warm day, high about 81, then much cooler weather comes in. Cold weather hitting warm weather, recipe
for storms.

got new rv gps hooked up on beanbag on dash, turned on and found satellites immediately vs in-dash unit, still stuck on acquiring satellites.
Stopping at supermarket at 7am to pick up a hoagie for lunch, forgot to do that yesterday so I won't be hungry waiting for rv to get done. If I'm fed and have my
Kindle with me, I can be patient. Sort of....
wish I had different weather for this, takes me two hours to wash the rv when it gets dirty.
Maybe I'll just take the powerwasher to it when I get home.

I have a whole lawn full of mushrooms if anyone is hungry.

I got to bed at 1230, been awake since 430. Nerves are bothersome.

I copied this from Environment Canadas' website;

West Nipissing - French River

First major snowfall of the season Halloween Night.

Rain or mixed precipitation will continue today before changing to snow this evening. Snow may become heavy at times tonight. Snow may also be mixed with ice pellets, especially in the North Bay area.

Total snowfall amounts near 15 cm (6") are expected across the region with a few higher amounts up to 30 cm (12") possible especially near the Quebec Border.

Hazardous winter driving conditions are expected Thursday night.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

This little dusting is coming up from the Gulf of Mexico.

I have my monthly shopping trip to North Bay, leave at 8:30 and arrive back around 2-3 P.M.
That will be my day, done. Unless I have to plow.

Have a good day all

Good morning! 32˚F (wind chill 23˚F) heading to the 50s. Tomorrow morning will bring another 5 hours of freezing temperatures. The president of the gardens reminded everyone to take their irrigation timers out of the gardens before the freeze, I did, but I wonder how many are freezing now. The people were gathering the last of the summer vegetables yesterday, it was busy in the gardens even with a 45˚F rain and wind.

All the mischief that happens on Halloween is absent in this neighborhood, these old folks just can't throw toilet paper over the trees and no trick- or- treaters tonight. I think there is a costume dance in the ballroom but we did not get tickets, just a quiet evening at home.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 47° with rain this morning. Heading to 47° with more rain and wind warnings. May have first s!!w by morning for the season. Dogs are happy with their grooming yesterday. By this time tomorrow just about all the leaves left on trees will be on the ground. I have been procrastinating hooking up the Trak-Vac on the mower. I may have waited to long. It never got used last year.

Ordered a wireless dog fence this morning. Anyone else use one.

Eric, I have some of those mushrooms. Not going to eat them.

Looking, got your snow tires on car?

Drew, use the widest angle tip on your power washers. Stay away from decals.

Happy Halloween all.

Good Morning All

Good Morning!!!! 52F @ 5:15AM. Abundant sunshine. High 73F. Winds light and variable.

For the first time in a week, this morning when I woke up I was able to flip a switch and have a light come on. Technology is wonderful, but only when it works. For the next ten days, highs will be in the seventies with no rain, and winds will stay at or below 6 MPH. The power came back on at about six last night, and it looks like it'll stay that way for a while.

I ordered a UPS for the satellite modem, wireless router, and network attached storage unit yesterday. When it gets here, I'll replace the battery in it with the biggest marine battery Walmart sells. If that works out, I'll get another one for the entertainment center. The UPS also has built in surge suppression, which would have been handy with all the power ups and downs over the past week. I haven't found anything that was damaged yet, so I consider myself lucky.

L4N and Drew, hope your drives go smoothly and safely today. L4N, please close the door behind you when you leave; we don't need any snow down here this early.

Nice job on the mushrooms, Eric. Do they impart a strange smell to the smoke when they burn?

Nice job on the new axe, Paul. You gonna share a few licks with us?

In dash navs are never as good as the portable ones, and the dealers charge for the upgrades.:2cents:

Has anybody else's computer started doing automatic spell correction here on TBN lately? Not sure when exactly it started here, but I'd sure like to know how to turn it off!:muttering:

Just upgraded the iPhone to iOS 13.2 from 12 something, and so far so good. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it stays that way, though.

Off to town for groceries and gasoline today, got a buddy comin' up with with a pair of steaks this afternoon for some much needed R&R. But first I'll get the valves adjusted on the generator, just in case.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'.

69 and rainy, going to 76. Rough storms forecasted tonight.

Mostly, nice looking stove/fire. I'll start our first tomorrow, as a few nights in the low/mid 30s are predicted. Hard to believe Don has his first freeze before us.

We took my wife's Highlander to the dealer yesterday for its annual state inspection. The state fee has gone up over the years and is $20 now...so it's nice that the Toyota dealer still does the inspection for free...I know they are mostly looking for something to fix and make money. A nice grocery store and Harbor Freight are across the highway, and a good Mexican restaurant, so we make a half day of it.

Enjoy Halloween!

Every RH batter tonight has ran the same way. No runner runs totally in the box, especially RH.

Might be the technical rule, but only enforcing it due to the first baseman reaching in front of him, in a World Series game, is poor umpiring.
I was an umpire once.

And it’s not like football out of bounds. You can step in or on the line without being out.

It is like football, I umpired also, now it’s not an absolute if he steps out early and gets back in without interfering in the judgement of the umpire, then he is ok.
And while I don’t disagree that it looks like selective enforcement, they are correct in the technical rule.
But what matters is they still won! A 93 win wild card team knocked off the giant and Verlander once again showed his WS pitching lacking, he is 0-5 now.

Got my rule book out.

Can be called out if Runner attempting to profit by running too far from the baseline, or outside the 3 ft line while advancing to 1st. (Avoiding a tag)

Fielder must not be in baseline unless reasonable chance for him to receive thrown ball. Benefit of doubt is given to the runner.

Don’t see anything about running inside the line

You can’t physically touch first base without stepping inside the line.

Seems to me the first baseman interfered by reaching across the line.

Found another one, a runner hit by a thrown ball while running on the baseline is not out.

I said inside the line, I mean inside the marked box, I have always referred to that as the base path, not the narrow line that connects the bases. At any rate, the people in charge all agreed the call was correct, and it was. I didn’t like it but it was correct. The fielder is only entitled to impede the runner if he is making a play with reasonable expectation of catching the ball. The ball hit his glove and the runner didn’t attempt to avoid contact.

I did get in bed around 10, but I’m awake multiple times and like you I’ve been awake since around 4. I think mine is due to lack of 02 at times.

72 with a dew point of 68, air you can wear! Warm, humid and windy with big storms tonight. Most of yesterday’s rain missed us to the west and north. We have freezes forecast for the weekend. I guess I gotta get out the jeans and park the shorts.
Have a good day all.

in batters box feet position matters. The lines are considered part of the box, and any part of the foot may not be out of the box. Which is why the batters destroy the box lines.

The ball hit the runner in the leg as he stepped on the bag. SAFE is the correct call.

His right foot came down in foul territory. The fact his left foot was in the grass down the line doesn’t matter. He was clearly on the line when it mattered.

Where’s Billy Martin when you need him? He would have kicked dirt all over that ump.

I meant Earl Weaver.

32°F and snow flurries this morning, going up to 38° today. Back up in the 50s tomorrow, and near 60° on Monday. Our one day peek at Winter today.

Not a big baseball fan, but having seen the video of the questionable call, I, too, find it a bit questionable. When I think of someone running outside the baseline, I think of the guy making a wide berth around an attempted tag. Yet, no one ever questions those big wide swings guys make when rounding a base to the next one. How is that not "outside" the baseline? As with most things in professional sports, the officials decide depending on how they feel that day. There's no other way to explain the MLB strike zone. In the end, of course, it didn't affect the outcome of the game - unlike the Don Denkinger thing in the '85 Series. Congrats to the Nats.

Oh, Canada.... The Montreal Expos move to Washington, and Presto - 54 years later they win the world series!:cool2:

Interestingly enough, check, the same thing happened when the Quebec Nordiques moved to Colorado, then finally won a Stanley Cup their first year there.

Good Morning Everyone!!!!

An overcast, drizzly, showery 55ºF for today’s low temperature; a drizzly 59ºF presently; and I anticipate a break in the rain and an afternoon high in the mid60ºF’s before the weather gets interesting later tonight with lots of rain and wind. The coy-wolfs were quite vocal last night. They must have been pretty close as tough guy Brogen was strangely silent and would not leave the deck while on tether.

Bill- I wish you safe travels and a return home before the snow starts falling tomorrow.

Eric- I am glad to see you posting  I need to order that Japanese movie- “The Attack of the “Mushroom People,” AKA “Matango” about a man in a padded cell tells of being shipwrecked on a foggy island with toadstool-eating tourists.

I heard quite a few far fetched stories from/in the confines of a “padded’ cell, but none as  as this one. I heard lots of crazy/paranoid talk of Martians, Zionists, Communists, “Lesbos,” “Faggots,” and many times just “Them”. Actually every office that I ever had working at the psychiatric hospital was formerly a “seclusion room.” BTW I never saw a padded cell; they were no longer used as it was much more cost effective to just “medicate” or restrain the psychotically agitated individual.

We have never gotten a Halloween trick or treater here. Wifey still buys candy “just in case”;)

It looks like many of us will experience different “attention getting” weather events today. I hope that everyone stays safe and sound.

Don’t eat the mushrooms!!!!!!!!!!

My + thoughts and prayers.
