Good morning!!!!

Good evening all. 28F for the start, clear sky, calm wind. Wind got back to moderate with strong gusts, sky stayed clear, and high temp was 51F. first order of business was to build fire back up. Did some KP after breakfast, verified bike ready for pickup, then went to Denton to pick it up. Spent the afternoon put back on seat, lights pedals, chain maintenance (not complete), bike speedometer etc.
Need to verify bike speedometer settings, lube chain and it should be ready to go :).
Congrats to the Nationals, they beat a very good Astro team.
Eric nice pic. Are you harvesting mushrooms or firewood? I had visions of you had found morel mushrooms on logs and needed chainsaw for transport prep.
Buckeye sorry to hear about nerves.
Don they did a trunk or treat last Saturday for the kids, not very many go trick or treat tonight, porch light is out.
I thought I heard that MLB high up people were happy with the questionable call. PJ if you are talking about the wide turn at first, nobody is making a tag attempt, so they are not called. If the runner is avoiding a tag attempt, then he would be called out.
Hawkeye glad health is improving even if so slowly.
L4N good to hear you made it home before the "fun" started.
Drew, glad nav sys is fixed, sorry to hear it was install issue :( Winter is CA rain season, all fire will be out.
David hope Tundra gets sorted out soon.
Buckeye sorry about your floor.
prayers for all
Pick is the weld, triangle added for strength as well as long seat post.

/ Good morning!!!! #101,422
Turns out to be a very expensive day and I’ve nothing to show for it.

Batteries on electric system have been under performing lately, requiring more generator use, so I was determined to do a good troubleshooting this morning and contact the dealer for advise. FYI, these are the same batteries I paid over $30k to be installed less than 3 years ago then manufacturer went bankrupt less than month later.
Starting at the top, I checked every PV string and array to combiner box to its charge controller and all the DC terminal connections, all good as expected. Checked each individual battery and all measured same except 1. 1 of 21 reporting about 3 volts lower than rest. Sent informative email to my local dealer laying everything out.
Got reply a couple hours ago - not good. Apparent the whole battery bank is failing in keeping with info they have know last year and a half. Bankrupt manufacturer = no warranty = no recourse.
Dealer is offering several alternatives, but the only 2 viable long term are lithium replacement packages that cost even more at their discounted offering. Needless to say, not happy camper. This dealer makes their money as an installer, so I doubt they would just supply me the replacements, but I have asked. This is a developing situation.

As I was working this issue about an hour ago, Toyota called with Tundra update. They have determined my ECU is shorting out, needs replacement. On order from mainland, will take a week. So maybe I get Tundra back next week.

Our son’s inheritance maybe taking a shift shortly - cash to hardware.

Good Morning!

34 and going to a high of 36°F. Wind NNW 11 gusting to 20 mph. The wind will shift and become NE 18 gusting to 30 mph. Periods of snow mixed with rain today and tonight, periods of rain mixed with snow.
There is snow in the forecast for the next 7 days/nights.
I copied this from Environment Canadas' website;
5:24 AM EDT Thursday 31 October 2019
Snowfall warning in effect for:

North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa
West Nipissing - French River

First major snowfall of the season Halloween Night.

Rain or mixed precipitation will continue today before changing to snow this evening. Snow may become heavy at times tonight. Snow may also be mixed with ice pellets, especially in the North Bay area.

Snow is expected to taper off to flurries Friday morning.

Total snowfall amounts near 15 cm (6") are expected across the region with a few higher amounts up to 30 cm (12") possible especially near the Quebec Border.

Hazardous winter driving conditions are expected Thursday night.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
This little dusting is coming up from the Gulf of Mexico.

I have my monthly shopping trip to North Bay, leave at 8:30 and arrive back around 2-3 P.M.
That will be my day, done. Unless I have to plow.

Have a good day all

Time for snow tires! Getting mine installed on the F150 Saturday morning.

Interestingly enough, check, the same thing happened when the Quebec Nordiques moved to Colorado, then finally won a Stanley Cup their first year there.

Wow, PJ, I did not know that. Kind of like Lorne Greene making it big after he left Canada. I always thought he was a great father figure.

Never did like the Nordiques.

57 right now...temperature will be dropping throughout the day for a high of 48...rain an wind. Here, we're to see gusting up to 40 MPH...not as bad as you folks in the mid-atlantic.

Several degrees above freezing this morning thanks to south westerly rain clouds. Grand kids coming today, the oldest and their teacher mum have no school this week because it is half term holidays.

Mostly, can't quite make out the weld in the pic, the triangular gusset is a distinctive touch and shouldn't add much unwanted weight. Now you are back to being spoilt for choice as to which bike to ride out on

Hawkeye, except for yellow snow , never thought of snow weather having a distinctive odour before, what does it smell like ?

BEF, society and varnish manufactures put pressure on us to keep non-painted wood looking as though it is freshly cut, yet I find there is a lot of charm in older weathered wood. It is like seeing my wife's once blond hair darken slightly over the years and then become slowly streaked with silver, a look which I find attractive, yet equally others prefer to hold off with colouring. Check with your wife's hairdresser, then either get the sander out, or change the metalwork to chrome to match

44 going to 58 and windy.

Bad storm last night. Not looking forward to seeing clean up requirements when it gets light.

/ Good morning!!!! #101,428
That storm must have come through here at 2am, woke me up, .19 inches of rain, not a lot, but I bet there's sticks and junk down everywhere.
Once it dries out a little, expect to be running the garden tractor and tow behind blower today.

47 going to 61 today, big drop in temps. Going to pick last of peppers today, then get motorhome put away properly.

snow...all of you in it, drive safely. Winter has arrived.

David, really sorry to hear about the battery failure.

I remember you choosing salt water batteries (Aquion ?), but I don't really know much about them. Have you found any info on the internet about what is causing the failure ? Although there could be a fundamental internal mechanism which means they have a low life expectancy, it could also be that the way there are being charged/ discharged is causing the early failure, in which case there is a chance something can be done about it, even if it limits the storage capacity.

40° and don’t hear wind howling. And power stayed on.

Don’t think the wife will let the door go gray.

Sorry to hear about the batteries.

during high school one of my first cars was a beige four door Peugeot 403 sedan, with four on the tree, a sunroof and reclining front seats. I think I saved up 500 dollars for that car. Had to sell it when I went off to college. Had a lot of fun in it, thankfully a local sports car place would work on it.
And solid steel wheels that would not fit on tire changing machines.
Well, looks like Peugeot may be coming back.
yesterday FCA and PSA announced an equal merger.
When Mercedes owned Chrysler, at least they gave the suv's and sedans a great suspension, still in use a decade later by Challengers, Chargers, etc.
What Peugeot will bring to the table is a real question.

unlikely I'll be wearing a beret any time soon driving my Ram...;)
anyone else ever own a Peugeot?

Good morning! had to look twice at the temp this morning. 26˚F no wind. Whatever survived yesterday in the gardens is gone this morning. Only the "winter vegetables" will continue to produce.

Hawkeye, I too was wondering what snow smells like.

David, sorry to hear about your Tundra and especially your battery problems.

Buckeye I second the Spar varnish, I used it on my wood porch ceiling after a good sanding. I put 3 coats on, looks new.
Eric if I left it natural to match my wife's hair I'd have to paint it bright white, no hints of gray (or original color) at all for the last 30 years. Hmm, no maintenance either . . . The bright white does make it easy to locate here in a store though.

Mostly I added the same type of triangle on my trailer after a weld broke hauling rock, still good after 10 years.

Drew I believe in their quest to become the biggest Fiat just wanted to merge with somebody they tried with Renault and that failed now Peugeot I see no purpose. VW was almost King got caught cheating Mercedes tries to take their place runs into their own troubles so now I guess Fiat is going to try. Mercedes let it be known they will no longer be doing research on gas motors electric now gas motors I’m afraid will go the way of the dinosaurs

Don I was grey for long time now pure white eyebrows only clue to original color now they are turning white. Wife still blonde though but she is younger by two years presently

26 degrees this morning, going for a sunny high of 58.

We've had Spectrum (formerly Charter) TV now for 6 years. We changed from DirecTV when they upped the price on us unexpectedly. And after we changed, a lady from DirecTV called and offered to cut our bill in half if we'd stay with them, but I told her she was too late. Now of course Spectrum runs "misleading?" ads on TV all the time; "no added fees or taxes" when I'm paying about $30 a month clearly labelled as fees and taxes. It took more than a year for Charter to get things working right, and twice when they upped the price, I talked to their regional manager and he got me a little discount for a year each time. But this year when the "discount" expired, I didn't call or go see that regional manager, as perhaps I should have, so this month they tacked on another $29 to the bill.

Now Dish TV has been sending stuff in the mail a long time wanting to sell us their system. So this morning, the technician is supposed to be here to install it with a 2 year price guarantee.

Bird, at least you have different competitors to choose from. We only have one internet provider or we have to go satellite? I think it's good to switch TV and Telephone companies every two years. New customers are their only concern, they apparently don't look at retention.

Bird, you did not beat my low temp, 26˚F, this morning. I think we are tied for the lowest in the country for now.

Don’t forget that at the time of the MB/Chrysler merger, MB was in the middle of their electronics nightmare and the Chrysler guys helped them dig out of that hole. You’re right about the suspension, we had a Pacifica and it was near identical to an R platform underneath.
