Welcome back Fishman. I still remember your visit to Jinman痴 place to check out his lake.

Yes, I enjoyed that a lot. Sadly I didn't find out about Jim's cancer fight until it was long over.

Wish I were closer to some of you wood burners.

speaking of burning wood, need to let this pile settle down a little and have a nice bonfire. That pit is full up.

I wish you lived closer, too. I wouldn't need so many tractor implements of my own, and you wouldn't have to buck or split the wood to get rid of it.

I get pretty good compression of burn piles by placing the bucket on the top and lowering it until the front wheels come off the ground. I pretty much do that after depositing every bucket full onto the pile. I would also not try to light that fire until it dried at least a month, in fact it is illegal to burn green wood out here.

After a lot of fidding, hauling the big jack from one end of the shipping container to the other on the pallet forks, dragging it through the gravel, and swapping shims into and out of the stacks at each corner, I got within 1/16" of level. I was hoping that would make the doors work better, but it didn't help a bit. I can't even get the set on the front of the box to close all the way, and wonder if all that jacking has warped the door frame. Time for more measurements, this time of the door frame diagonals.

As mentioned previously, the laser self levels by manipulating a spinning mirror or prism on top of the unit. The beam can be set to remain stationary, scan in an arc, or to spin full circle, as shown in the video below.

This is today's data sheet; yesterday's was twice as long as the measurements after each adjustment were confounded by the container resting on the gravel base. Once it was up on the piers, the measurements could be used to guide the shim additions and subtractions, and it came down to finding pieces of wood or metal of the correct thickness.

Went out and worked in the garage a while, first time any real time in there since May. Felt good to do something productive. Then I cooked dinner, turkey roast, baby Lima’s with tomatoes and mashed potatoes with gravy.

Interesting exercise, following to see how it comes out.

Erector set together.
Cheated a bit and did not ream out the misaligned holes in middle section.

Wall is 2, 1/2”sheets exterior grade, treated plywood, glued and screwed.

Verticals secured with 48, 3/8x11/2” thru bolts
Rear shelves 24 5/16x1/14 lag bolts. Would have been 3/8x 11/2 but the other box turned out to be 1”. Maybe some day I’ll learn to check every box at HD.

Lost count how many 5/16x 3/4 bolting pieces together. 75+

Really misjudged paint.
Almost 2 cans primer,
1 super larger can bed coat (not enough)
2 cans gray enamel.

Wall will be lag bolted to existing structure. Hopefully tomorrow.

Finishing prep

Good evening all. 60F for the start, winds calm, overcast and fog. Water did not cover the bottom of the bucket this morning, Fog and drizzle most of the day, high temp 69F. Thunder and lightning in area could get more rain tonight. Men's meeting this morning, too wet to go riding, did get nap in. Spent some time with wife today is her birthday :) went to stepdaughter's house for dinner and cake.
Roy hope you get something from training, glad it is tolerable.
L4N good luck with front cover.
Ron. great fall pic!
Buppies, there is vapor control on the fuel tanks so no dirt getting in if no fumes getting out.
RNG good luck with the container leveling, and have fun on trip.
Drew was it nice having the overhead guard?
Hawkeye, good to hear improvement of your health.
Drew, one thing to remember is the hard coating needs to be the outside coat to get full effect, got the blue light coating on my last pair, they already had a lens with ll but blue light coating, so guess which coating on outside, hint not the hard coat. Wouldn't mind it if you were closer either. I don't know many of the land owners around here, hard to get wood older than 1 yr. and hardwood does not fully dry out in that time span.
RNG nice video.
prayers for all.

good morning all. Looks to be a nice day before wet and cold weather comes in, 75 high of today, and a freeze warning in effect for tomorrow.
off to arthritis doc, likely a waste of time, nice guy but needs to retire, don't think he is keeping up.
then hair cut and back to work outside.

Mostly, overhead guard is a great idea for all that glass, particularly dropping big branches like we were, but a bad design on it, probably fixable without
too much effort...they need to put one end of that steel grate on a hinge, so it can be lifted up to clean underneath. Nice to have the glass but hard to get it clean.

seems like the year is running out awfully fast.
