30 right now...high in the mid-30's (far cry from yesterday's mid-60's!)
Not much going on...not enough for a dump run today...don't need a haircut. Maybe a store run if the wife wants to go.
Like to run some more rounds through this little .380...ran two mags through a week back with no problems. We'll see if the field is dry enough for that...

Good morning, the temp nosedived, 1°F and only going up to 27. Wind N 6 mph. Mainly sunny.

I'm not sure what I will get up to today. Probably nothing.

Have a safe and healthy day all

Walked out into a bitterly cold East wind this morning, now I am waiting for my jaw to thaw out before I can have breakfast.
Just wasn't expecting San Antonio to be like this :confused3:

Rich, I don't imagine Scunthorpe gets too many visitors from afar, did they put a plaque on the wall to mark the occasion ? :) When I was younger we called it "Sunny Scunny" - nothing to do with sunshine, just the orange glow from molten steel.

Nice sunset PJ

Don, how are you managing for food ? Many staples of a vegan diet would be almost impossible to source here at the moment, although there are still plenty of fresh vegetables. Yesterday I did see two shelves stocked high with seeds and nuts, but that was in the bird feed section of the local ag store.

Holy Smokes, David, you sure know how to pack a tractor!:laughing:
Sssh, Sophie is hoping this tractor loading obsession will go away if we all ignore it.
It all started when she refused to buy him Buckeroo for Christmas

54 and raining. Temps dropping so this is the high.

Nice soaking rain that we need, too, Kyle.

Hawk, congrats on the retirement.

Ted, glad Max is better. I accelerated the shipment for Coco's dog food a week ago, and got an email saying that it would probably be slower arriving...Chewy's is suffering from the TP mentality. I wasn't hoarding, just getting the regular delivery a bit earlier.

PJ, such a beautiful sunset you had. Glad you got to see it.

Roy, enjoy your target practice. With the ammo shortage, I had not heard any shooting off in the distance the last week or so...until last evening. I was outside working until dark, and it sounded like a war...either 2 guys shooting, or a lot more than a 30 round mag. The wind was strong toward me from the shooting , so sounded closer, but probably at least a mile away. Glad the guy found some extra ammo to enjoy.

I moved a pallet of firewood yesterday, so got a little seat time. Then I spent too many hours rebuilding one from HD, and then adding a triple rack to it. I use a lot of old lumber scraps and had to pull some nails from some of it. I had exactly enough bolts and nuts (sure is a good feeling) but now need to make another trip to TSC for a resupply.

54 maybe gets up to 60 less than quarter inch of rain much cooler than yesterday and even cooler tomorrow

Birds are outside singing wife was going to get lesson on 22 but canceled for foreseeable future

Prayers for all

Drinking last cup of coffee. 24ー with cloudy skies and a brisk wind from the north. Heading to 39ー with some sun. Ended up talking on phone for several hours yesterday. All family members. They are settling into staying in place.
Son's place has dived up work force to different areas of manufacturing, warehouses and offices. He is responsible for one manufacturing plant and a warehouse. So far no cases of CV.
Talked to my sister yesterday, BIL is doing better after a large shot of antibiotics and more in capsule form. Nurse that came out to car wore all kinds of protection. Dr no mask.
Good friends from Woodstock Ontario attend a funeral for their neighbor George. George's horses and wagon. RIP.

Covid-19 Michigan update. 549/4. Oakland County 202/1. High number in my county is because that is where the most testing is available and being reported.

David, good loading job. Are you returning all the extras to store?

Hawkeye, congrat's. Took me several months to settle into retirement. I took a trip to your area of the country to visit family.
Then it was I like this.

Buckeye, glad your company let you work from home.

RNG, good video, shared it with my son in NC. Got him things about getting a mini.

Kyle, neat bike. $$$$$$

Everyone stay safe and healthy.

Good Morning All.

good morning all. Was hoping that heavy rain would make it here but looks like showers instead.

Hawkeye, congrats and enjoy the next chapter.

Might do a little more flower planting in between showers.

I get my dog food from Amazon. Ordered Tuesday. Suppose to be delivered tomorrow.

Eric,

I was in Scunthorpe to go to the steel mill. Only reason I had to go there.

But, at dinner the night before, I had a local beer that was quite good, just can稚 remember the name.

Yes that's electric bikes. I look after a recreational biking group and when started about 4 years ago on the first day 8 people turned up, no ebikes. these days 70 to 80 turn up each week and 90+% are ebikes. They are very good at flattening out hills. Most have some sort of torque sensing so you still have to put in your own peddling effort to get the power out

Kyle that one is too much like a motorcycle and no pedals.

Jim what is a popular brand and what features are most desirable. I like the idea of torque sensing and assist. Does the ebike need a license as a motorized vehicle?

Good morning 46˚F winter is back on this first (or second) day of Spring. Rain left, a nice 1.2 inches on my fertilized yard, and may return this afternoon.

Eric we are looking good on food. We had a big bag of black beans from costco in the pantry and a 1/2 dozen 1 lb bags of various beans before they cleared the shelves. No luck in scoring green lentils like RNG as even the bulk food beans have been cleared out. Bread is no problem, there is plenty of the frozen whole grain vegan bread in the freezer section even when the shelves are empty of fresh bread. No one wants to try frozen bread at $4 a loaf. I scored frozen whole wheat pita pockets yesterday and oatmeal and raisins are staying on the shelf. Garden is still supplying kale and the only vegetable in one store was fennel which no one knows that it makes a wonderful bean soup. Only the ugly whole wheat brown pasta is left on the shelves, our brand. Laura's Peanut butter (just peanuts) was still available and McDougall's dried vegan soups were still available. No stores ran out of plant based milk. Big bags of frozen blueberries are still on the shelf. Lots of fresh turmeric at one natural food store. We had to travel to Kyle's county to score on onions on a Mom visit. I think the people on the standard American diet are having a harder time. Still on the lookout for green lentils re-appearing (for RNGs meatballs) and TP.

Question of the day. How many rolls of TP douse your household use a week? We use about one, but it's Scotts and has more on a roll.
How Much Toilet Paper?! - The Coronavirus Toilet Paper Calculator

Kyle potatoes are up! But during the 10 people virus limitation order our garden is no longer needing the tractor services. We should only water and pick vegetables in the garden.

Just had a big bowl of Yellow/Green/Purple Oatmeal. No shortages expected.

Good Morning!!!! 44F @ 5:45AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 68F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Before I left for town yesterday, I took my temperature with an electronic oral thermometer, and it came back at 97.1F. Guess that makes me a cool dude!:laughing: I think that'll be a new addition to my morning routine, at least until this Chinese flu scare passes.

During the drive home, was listening to a talk show and heard an Asian gal that had immigrated legally here say she thought we in the US were due reparations from China because they had not managed the disease properly, and even hid its existence for the first three weeks. That's gonna be a big bill if it ever comes to pass. Why just the TP cost alone would put most third world countries in the poor house.

Sounds like most of us are getting by just fine, with a few adjustments and inconveniences. The important thing is everybody's healthy so far; hope it stays that way.

I thought the purpose of riding pedal bikes was to get exercise?:confused2:

Didn't know oatmeal came in technicolor, Don. Is that a special vegan blend?

That was a nice shot of the Sandhills yesterday, Ron. Have you ever shot video with that long lens?

I'm hearing turkeys gobbling off in the distance, but haven't seen any in the yard yet this year. The big doe that likes to hang around is getting plenty of grass to eat though, and it looks like she's expecting again.

Finally got the backhoe mounted on the tractor, and in just a few minutes had enough dirt and rock cleared out of the propane trench to get in and cut out the broken pipe end. Would have taken me a day to do that with a spud bar and a shovel. Fit a union and a short pipe nipple to the line, and got new threads cut on the cut end, but one side or the other is a tiny bit long and the union won't quite line up. Looks like I need to cut a thread or two more off, then rethread, to get it just right, so that's on the agenda for first thing today. Pretty sure it broke because the dirt under the pipe wasn't compacted, and didn't support the pipe well enough when the rest of the trench was filled. I still have some decomposed granite left, and am giving some thought to back filling the first foot with that, at least around the repair. And packing it well as it goes in.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

That is one problem with threaded schedule 40 pipe the threading takes a lot of strength out of the pipe,
you lose so much wall thickness to threading. Schedule 80 is much better in that regard but it does add to the cost.

Cloudy skies this AM led a rather late, but mostly sunny 31ºF for today’s low temperature. A mostly sunny 33ºF presently and I anticipate a sunny afternoon in the low 40ºF’s. A beautiful day. I am still gimping around, but at least I am able to gimp. I plan on taking it easy on the puttering around projects until I am gimp-free. It looks like I will be dealing with a snow management event Monday-Tuesday. Now that I am starting to think Spring Winter returns.

My Wife got 2 calls yesterday. *One from our*pharmacy and one from her rheumatologist. *With*anticipated increased (supply draining) demand for*her prescribed Hydroxychloroquine Sulfate due to the possibility that it*might effectively treat C-19 both went ahead and ordered enough for my Wife to hopefully see her through this challenge.

RNG- Thanks for the YT suggestion. It’s been a long while since I was active in YT. Your piloting growth curve is awesome and it’s not just all because of that fancy flight controller. I like your universal precaution routine. I am making a batch of hand sanitizer today thanks to Amazon.

Paul- Personalities are what they are. From my limited exposure to some of the major players involved I see many, many more editions pending, and I will continue to avoid those threads. Life is too short for BS.

Bruce- I did talk to a tech rep last Thursday just to let SelectComfort® know that it appeared that I got a defective replacement compressor, but with the limited time I was dealing with him he gave me a hint as to at least getting the remote to bind with I did. I have started the assessment process yesterday and will deal with SC Monday. I am not ready to dirt nap yet.

Dave- Nice load  Thanks for explaining how you managed the load.

BEF- Thanks for sharing your Forsythia picture  I usually have ~ 2 more months before I see any color here, but this Winter was warmer and shorter than the usual.

Jim- Beautiful country your way. Thanks for sharing

Good morning All. About 42 here now and quite breezy. Some change from yesterday’s almost 80!

Congratulations to Hawkeye. Retirement may be the best thing that’s ever happened to me!

Maybe move some of next years dry wood into the woodshed today and tomorrow ahead of rain forecast for Monday.

Enjoy the weekend all. Stay safe and healthy.

Frank

Good morning. It's 50° here with a moderate north wind. High is to be around 60° this afternoon and more rain is expected this afternoon. We got 1 3/4" of much needed rain yesterday. This cool weather will be short lived as well be back in the 80's next week and forecast 90° here next Thursday.

I had to go take care of a couple of things at our Richmond home yesterday morning so when I left I decided to grab a few things at the Sam's Club about a mile from our house on my way back to the ranch. Sam's like many other stores has changed their open hours. Previously, business members only from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. many times I was the first customer in the store and saw nobody except Sam's Associates then out the door by 7:30 latest. Now ... they open at 9 a.m. with hundreds of people lined up outside. I did a few other errands then .. went in about 9:30 a.m. there were lines everywhere, shelves cleaned out, people with 2-3 carts full. Luckily .. the few items I wanted were still available. Sam's has a great feature called "Scan & Go"... as you grab your items you use your phone camera to scan the item bar codes .. then "checkout" on your phone. As I sailed by the long checkout lines, toward the door, I heard several of the 3 cart ninnies say things like "where are you going?" Or "Get to the back of the Line!" I just smiled and cruised to the door.

Saw this online this morning. I wish more stores would adopt this.
