Great story, Bird. Think I was about that age when I got my 1st bike, one of the small 20 inch. My Dad got it some where and laboriously torn it down, painted it red and silver and rebuilt as I impatiently observed and waited. I was as proud of that bike as any of my friends that had a store bike. We lived in a trailer park at the time, lots of friends. The fact that my Dad actually did this for me was just as important as the bike. Years later it was passed down to my brothers.

Nice ...

Yeah ... those are pretty slick ... I have seen similar setups on other brands ... possibly Walkers ... ?

Looks like the vac portion is driven off the mower.

They tend to be a little smaller capacity-wise than what I would want ... but entirely suitable for a lawn service company or home owner that's doing smaller yards.

To give some idea of the difference in size, the dry weight on that Locke unit I posted the picture of is (supposedly) 1540 lbs ... that's only 200 lbs shy of the weight of the tractor I'd be pulling it with ...

With a 3.5 cu. yd. capacity, and a full load of compacted green grass clippings, the load in the Locke alone would weigh near 2500 lbs.

FWIW, I tried to call Drew on Monday ... it went to voice mail.

Hope he is ok.

I wasn’t going to use it for bagging grass, I mulch mine, I only mow 2.5 acres. I was going to make a rear lift for one of my garden tractors, I honestly don’t remember exactly what I had in mind! LOL

Checking In:

Miss a day or two and ………..

I am hoping to see a Drew post soon.:( Extra +’s.

The past couple of cold and rainy weeks really messed with my mood state, and I started thinking about the good ol’ Prozac days; but Spring and weather finally came to my rescue. Morning lows in the mid 30ºF’s to low 40ºF’s and afternoon high temperatures in the high 50ºF’s to low 60ºF’s without rain got me moving. Spring takes a long time to show itself around here and when it does it's like Mother Nature hit*the switch (except for my apple trees). I’ve been fortunately pretty busy since last Friday’s non weather event here. Sunday evening Brogen escaped and spent the next 5 hours cavorting about. Fortunately he returned unharmed (and so far no lawsuits). It was a sleepless night for me and it took him 2 days to recover from his night on the town. Monday I weeded and mulched our herb and flower and got all the stonework around the herb and flower gardens back in place. Tuesday I got the rider going once I disassembled and reassembled the air intake grill to remove an active mouse nest. Nest, mom, and cubs were moved to a better location w/o harm or injury, I had no leftover parts, and I started to mow the “lawn.” And this morning I pruned the peach tree, lubed the tractor, fueled it up, and swapped the box blade for the tiller. The tiller is all adjusted, and hopefully tomorrow the PTO shaft will hook up without too much drama. Hopefully I can maintain the activity and current mood state.

Ted- I still intend to create my own social distancing in the supermarket/pharmacy. Does the newly established USA Space Force have a uniform?

I hope that everyone is having a decent day.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

Jay, good to hear from you!

I’ve texted Drew, we will see what happens. His cell phone went to voicemail when I tried calling. Not liking this.

Two and half acres is looking pretty good after the last couple of years with these wet Springs and Summers ...

I was going to make a rear lift for one of my garden tractors, I honestly don稚 remember exactly what I had in mind! LOL

:D

I'm entirely familiar with how that works ... on a personal basis ...

RNG one continuous stream of red muddy water straw is holding back the mud. Have today and tomorrow for more heavy rain looking at about 7 to 8 inches total since Monday evening

After going out and raising the loader and then pushing the bucket back and forth, I'm seriously reconsidering my previous assessment:

The floppiness may be almost entirely due to internal leakage inside the cylinders due to worn seals ... which would be just fine with me.

I'm going to hold off on doing anything as far as bushings go until I've replaced the seals and hoses. FWIW though, the length on the bushings for the rod ends of the curl cylinders appears to a skosh over 2.25" ... and a .75" length on the loader frame itself would work.

A couple more hours in on the tank maintenance, still more to go though ... have run out of drawn water at this point.

Temperature here has dropped back down to 60F so I'll probably just stay down here at the house and keep at it and get it done ...

The last two afternoons were in the upper 90's during FireWise, park clearing and garden tractoring. The hydrating with low sodium V8 is working - no leg cramps.
Whipper is getting her walk later and later to let the roads cool down, But it's still 90˚F after the sun goes down.
The Governor is talking about opening the swimming pools at he end of May, I hope the neighborhood gets the memo. Just a hand full of new covid cases each day and still more recovered than sick.

Hang in there Drew, post when you can.

BEF, have you ever hiked Mt Pleasant/Coles Mtn/Pompey Mountain?

I'm getting desperate for some mountain and the feds won't reopen Shenandoah, so thinking of going over to some George Washington National Forest hikes.

No, have hiked down around Goshen, and AT thru MD and southern PA.

Jay good to hear from you!!!

Hope Drew is well.

No rain here. I finished mowing what I didn’t get done Monday night. Also took the ZT across the creek again. Got it looking like a park now.
Saw some funny looking cows in the neighbors pasture.

They kept meandering away from me.

Had to run into work again to pick up a couple more things.

Pretty sunset tonight

69 degrees this morning, going for a cloudy high of 83. My wife has an 11 a.m. appointment with her oncologist. She gets a chest x-ray, blood test, sees the doctor, then gets a Prolia injection. This is every 6 months. I haven't even seen that doctor in several years, seemed like a nice guy when I did see him, HOWEVER he has NEVER been earlier than 30 minutes to an hour late. And of course now they ask that patients NOT have anyone with them unless absolutely necessary. I'll be taking along a book to read and hope it isn't too hot sitting outside in the car.

Bird, with the price of gas at a buckfitty, I'd recommend to point the car into the wind and sit there in the air conditioning.

Maybe the guy that designed the Kubota L3240 now works at LS?:laughing:

Sorry to say I got a chuckle at your misfortune...I guess you will sell it??? I would put the wheels as wiiiiiide as they'll go. Just make sure to keep the lug nuts tight to spec.

Last night while grilling, no kidding, a maple branch came down missing the grill by inches. Wife freaked when it hit, but I was already by the door. Driveway looks like a hail storm came through, lots of new growth all over the place from the trees. Very odd.

RNG, it's a woods tooth bar. Had really good luck with the last one I had on the other 'bota. Dealer just left, got the armrests, rake and tooth bar all delivered. Super happy with their service and sales experiences. Said they were going to Lynchburg to pickup some equipment. Good for them!

Hope all have a good day today. Be safe. Prayers for those of in need.

wow o wow, glad you're ok. How big was it? We went to a park in Austin one night for an outdoor theater, and a 18" diameter branch fell from a pecan tree onto a parked jeep CJ. It did quite a bit of damage. It would've killed somebody if they were in it.

Thanks, Randy.

Ellen and I had lunch with Drew just before my valve replacement. Always enjoy seeing him.

My worry is that Mr. Drew got the virus while getting other stuff checked out. I pray he's getting treatment. My 70 yo brother believes he had it. I saw where an elderly lady had it, was in the hospital for something like 54 days, 33 of which she was on a ventilator! Can anyone imagine being on a ventilator that long? She said she finally got some plasma/antibody from a healed person, and she believes that is what saved her.

RS, the CDC came out and said something to the likes of, it is harder to catch the virus from surfaces than they first predicted. I'm still betting, the #1 way to get it, is to inhale microdroplets of virus from a sick person. And I still argue with my friends that a properly worn and managed N95 mask will help. I don't have the luxury of just throwing away my masks and getting a new one.

Prayers for all in need.

Good evening all. 66F to start, overcast, light breeze. Moderate wind gustiness came and went, few peaks of sunshine, and high temp was 75F. Stayed on cold side of front today. Went fishing this morning first largemouth on our lake. Celebrated with bike ride then nap.
Covid update: Cooke still 13 confirmed cases, all recovered, Montague unchanged, Grayson up to 199 confirmed, 76 recovered.
Rick figured it had to be one of those ... :scratchchin:
Buckeye hope you can get testing going.
RS since you did not post any fish pics, I did :) Good luck with your lawn vac, that is so serious sheet metal.

Buppies hate mud in the pool
Thomas most of my get up and go has left with Elvis
Billy love to go through old battlefields, sorry about grass.
Ron, Dam collapsing is very bad hope they weren't too big, 9 ft water in Chemical plant does not sound good at all.
Bird hope you had the same overcast we had up here.
RNG hope you can get the new tractor rigged the way you need it. and please don't tip over :)
Bird sound like an interesting bike, wish you had a pic of it.
Ted more gravel? is this a good idea? that is a bummer about the crack.
Mike sorry about the branch glad you and grill and supper ok
RS thanks for the Drew update attempt.
Jay sorry about your mood state, sounds reasonable stuff getting done inspite of you mood. More good news that Brogen did not do much damage while on the loose.
Looking good David
