Here is a sweat shot of the front porch work.

You mentioned you're using a scraper, and I'm wondering if one of the oscillating tools would work for you. Here's a HF offering with good reviews. I used one of their cheaper models to make plunge cuts on particle board, and trim the bottom of door frames. Done some sanding with them, too. But I'd get one from Bosch or another reputable supplier if I had it to do over again.

Those oscillating multi tools can be very handy.

About 4 hours with the flail mower. Got drive with palms and nearby area that I had been brush hogging last few times.

Good morning, just realised I inadvertently had skipped lots of pages on here yesterday - probably explains why the day seemed so long.

RNG, I sure don't envy you going at those fire truck innards with a wire brush, just hope you find plenty of metal left below to weld to. If other tank coatings prove too expensive, bitumous paint is cheap and sticks very well to steel that has seen better days, it is a good insulator too, which will help a magnesium anode last a long time.

Eric, do you use a WGBT when working in your muck?
Ron, unless you are asking if I had a dyslexic gay rights activist to help , I think you meant WBGT . Have come across wet bulb measurements before, but not the GT part - heat not often that plentiful in our climate. Will be interesting to hear more from Don's enlightened weather station.

Eric my comfort index: temp over 90 and dew point over 65F = sweaty weather :(
My comfort says : temp below 60 and dew on the grass = sweater weather. :)

good morning all
another hot and humid one, 78 now going up to 97

David, what a beautiful place you have; drone shot is wonderful

Doc yesterday put me back on statins, said my LDL was too high despite my protestations about leg cramps.
She said that was because dose was too high, 80mg and she put me on 20. That plus baby aspirin daily should help with
avoiding blood clots she said. Ok, I'll try again. And then she said, after consulting another doc there, that would be good idea if
I had an implantable heart monitor put in, despite two weeks of another heart monitor showing absolutely nothing, have never had issues with heart
but I guess if one has had one stroke, however small, they get nervous. Personally I think they are trying to generate business, so now I'm referred back to
cardiologist who said I was fine three weeks ago. Hmmmm. Think I might object and ask cardiologist for a second opinion.
I was given the "if you have afib it can cause a clot in 6 seconds". ?? well, I don't have afib, and I wonder why the worry.
So it's back to trust but verify.

starting to box up my belongings, trying to put as much in storage as I can, since storage unit is 8 minutes from rv campground. I had to buy things like dish detergent in packs of three from Amazon, so why keep extras on the rv, weight is never good. Deliveries coming in daily from online, staff is nice and bring them to my room, wondering what in the world is going on...

tomorrow a big day, go and get the rv and take it to campground and hook it up. Should be a sweaty mess by time that is done. Sure hope everything works. Need to check propane level first, if low, need to stop at propane dealer and get them to fill it up. Hot water heater runs only on propane so important that is full. Sure won't need heat for a while... Have to buy electric space heaters all over again, they got sold when I wish they hadn't. Hindsight...so many things I'm having to rebuy, wish I had not listened to siblings who said no no, using storage too expensive, shipping too expensive. So I got ten cents on a dollar for likely about 30 grand worth of furniture, supplies, etc. Not a good decision, but flip side of that was I never expected to bounce back this fast or so well. My siblings are adamant about my not living in rv, seem quite happy to spend my money to stay in assisted living. So...once I'm all moved in, I'll let them know, fait accompli. Deal with it folks...I'm safer in the rv than I am here...

today I need to order from Publix again. Facility keeps serving dry slab o ham for meals and I need other food to eat. Wind up having to drink extra water if I eat too much
of the salty ham. I love pork, just not ham. Plus it's processed which in itself is a health issue.
and every morning it's eggs and sausage or eggs and bacon. No wonder my cholesterol has gone up...

75 outside this AM. RAIN--whoop, whoop..last night, after I yapped about it. Not much....but will take it. High today in upper 90's. Heat index should be around 100 again. Of course with the "storm" another branch came down, blocking the driveway. And that, of course, is from a tree that will not get any work done to it. The end of the month cannot come fast enough, tree work scheduled.

Nice and foggy now, cannot see excavator in front yard. Mostly, no cab....not getting on that until it cools down some. That's the excuse, anyway.

RNG, I have a mini-sander, but the grits I was using, well I had better results scraping then sanding. I'll check-out that tool. Thanks.

David - Paradise.

Hope all have a great day today. Be safe.

Mars missions are latest arena in the US-China rivalry - CNN

the race is on...all my scifi novels over a lifetime of reading have talked about the importance of mining in space, and with the
search for "rare earth" metals, clearly there is a need to source these materials from places where perhaps they are not so rare.
Maybe in our grandchildren's lifetime this will happen, but not before we have better logistics/rockets, etc.
Astronauts are mighty brave folks.

First cup of coffee has been poured. 66° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 82° with cloudy skies in AM. Thunderstorms in PM. Got enough rain to wet ground overnight. Did garden pond maintenance that was in bad need of it. Lots of frogs in it. Some good sized. Goldfish look healthy. Heat likes to let string algae grow. Pond Vacuum gets rid of it. Look like it may be a good day to conserve energy.

Eric, I meant the correct letters. :confused2:

David, great picture.

Riptides, did your buy you an excavator? Ceiling looks like same T & G that my barn doors are made with.

Drew, you may want to look into a extend a stay RV kit for propane. This will allow you to use a 20 lbs or larger tank for propane and not have to move motorhome.

Happy Anniversary Mr and Mrs mpham. I had a head stone on order just before CV. Need to check if it got installed.

Everyone stay healthy and safe.

Good Morning All.

When I lived in Scottsdale it was found that all the recycling material that people carefully separated, was being taken directly to the land fill b cause it痴 a big empty desert and they can hide it there, for a while anyway.

The Chinese stopped taking out recycling because it was filthy, contaminated. BTW...the only real $ in recycling is in the metal. I read 90% of aluminum cans get recycled.

I知 glad someone else pointed this out, sometimes I think I知 the only one paying attention. The notion that govt is going to do anything is absurd. I致e said it before, people are govt. and the vast majority of people just want 都omeone else to do it? Let the govt do it. Kind of circular logic right there.

Recycling is there primarily to make people feel like they are doing something promising, something to help.

Its psychology, It痴 BS. It痴 like watching Father Knows Best or Andy of Mayberry. Prolly Anna stuff makes us feel better but it痴 just not true.

The only solution is some kind of deposits on ALL packaging, incorporated in the initial price. I used to deliver 7 up. All glass, all deposits, major PITA!

Now, put a $10 deposit on that plastic 2 liter bottle or those single serve packages and see what happens. You will hear Coca Cola and Mrs. American housewife screaming in unison.

Most everyone believes in most everything ......... until they actually have to suffer a little.

Initiate deposits on everything!

....

Oh gosh, no. It's a friends. I have over 1000 feet of water line to run, and a few stumps on the "lawn" by the porch that need to come out.

We have tongue and groove most everywhere. Including the barn ceiling. Very rare occurrence for a dairy barn to have that around here. It's a pain to work with and a pain to find in this area. The barns especially so, with the development encroachment. They are the white elephants. No use to "homeowners" no use to developers. And no more dairy farmers. Sad.

mpham, Happy Anniversary. Something to be proud of!

thanks Ron. I think I will get the Camco version with the extra hose for an external propane barbecue.
Amazon.com: Camco Propane Brass 4 Port Tee- Comes with 5ft and 12ft Hoses, Allows for Connection Between Auxiliary Propane Cylinder and Propane Appliances (59123): Automotive
First I sent email to Dynamax customer service asking them how this install would affect oem propane tank level gauge and if they had any install
or safety concerns. Thinking I probably should get some sealant tape for the fittings.
Now to decide whether 20 or 30 pounder. I think the latter.

Kit should be installed between regulator and MH tank. Should not need any tape or sealer. All fittings are brass, self sealing. Good choice on which kit.

Good morning. It's 75° and overcast here and our high is forecast to get to 92° this afternoon. The forecast rain, this week, has so far avoided us. Perhaps this "disturbance" in the GOM will help us out, if it goes south of us, putting us on the wet side. Fingers crossed, legs crossed, eyes crossed.

I need to sort out a leak on one of my air compressors this morning on the line between the compressor and the tank. It's leaking at the elbow right at the compressor outlet. I'll try doping its threads up with some Oatey pipe joint compound. The Oatey is rated for 400° so .. should work.

Wife and grand daughter will be here tomorrow for a long weekend so .. I need to finish cutting the yard around the house. I did most of the 9 acre yard with the tractor and RFM on Monday and only have about an acre to do with the ZT.

I've had a leak on my WR Long 3rd Function Valve, on the LS tractor, for a few days and after checking all the hose fittings for tightness, I sprayed the whole area around the valve with degreaser, then cleaned it all with the pressure washer. I taped a piece of craft paper to the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket and placed it upside down, under the valve to see exactly where my leak was coming from. There are two Torx screws in the side of the valve body, evidently from the valve body machining process. I tightened both and leak was reduced but, not stopped. I emailed with Brandon Long and he's sending me a couple replacement o-rings .. which should resolve my leak.

Here's to everyone having an excellent "Hump Day" today.

Prayers to all.

Good Morning!!!! 65F @ 5:00AM. Sunny. High 94F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.

Out here, Dave, they're right up front about recycling, at least since the CV19 panic: There isn't any. It's all shut down, supposedly because it's too hazardous for staff to deal with the waste. I think it's just a convenient cover to stop a practice that made no money for the trash companies.

Lots of good extend-a-stay options there, Ron. I'm wondering why I can't just get a pigtail and connect a picnic bottle to the fill port on the RV tank?

That's a lot of mowing, David!

I wish the builders of that tank had installed an anode when the made it, Eric. Would have saved me a lot of trouble, but only if someone else would have gone in there and changed it at regular intervals. You have me thinking, though: Can I weld in some kind of bracket that would accommodate one of the magnesium water heater anodes, accessible through the hatch for easy future replacement?

Good luck with your doctors, Drew. And even better luck getting settled in with the RV. Hope you meet some nice people in the park.

Sounds like now you HAVE to retire, Phil, to finish all those home improvement projects!

bafflesRemoved.jpg
A couple of hours and a half dozen zip discs later, no more baffles. You're an inspiration, RS!

sumpClogged.jpg sumpCleared.jpg
The sump was hopelessly clogged with debris, but I had to cut away a baffle that surrounded the pickup to get to it. Took a lunch break before I did the clean out, and when I came back, there was smoke coming out of the sump. Some enterprising mouse had made a house under all that junk, and it made excellent tinder. So that and the whole bucket of debris got drowned with the garden hose before being dumped on the back yard junk pile.

Got the urethane coating on order, and also the tambour door for the van. Today is wire brush day, and it might be one of those jobs best taken in small doses. On the other hand, once I'm covered in rust, might as well just knuckle under and git'er'done...

Happy Hump Day!

Forgot to mention. Some RV parks have propane delivery. That's what we had in TX. In AZ we needed extend a stay.
