Good Morning!!!! 67F @ 4:00AM. Plentiful sunshine. High near 90F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.

The regulators we use with our propane tanks reduce the pressure so that the liquid turns to a gas before it gets to the burners or spark plug. The kit I just purchased for the generator has two: One at the bottle, another just prior to the generator that reduces the pressure even more.

Hope you can get your meds wittled down, Drew, and you handle this infusion without issues.

Don't know where I ran across it, Eric, but I've known about the Texas City explosion for a while now. Probably in relation to the Oklahoma City bombing when that happened. Pretty sure ammonium nitrate is now regulated here so large quantities have a more difficult time finding their way into the wrong hands.

I've had problems with butane quality in the past, Bruce, with too much particulate causing clogs. Hoping to avoid that by filling from my own tank, which was supposed to be cleaned and reconditioned before I bought it, and using picnic bottles of recent manufacture. Been working fine so far with the BBQ...:crossfingers:

Glad all the east coasters can report an all clear this morning, and hope the clean up isn't too bad.

Hope you can get most of the little stuff up with the smaller grapple, Rick, and avoid a lot of bending over.

Sorry about your corn, Chris. Would live trapping do any good?

Was able to squeeze some tooth paste into the rotating joint for the firetruck float and get it running freely again. Then lots of 3in1 oil worked into the bushing where it passes through the wall of the tank. No good access to the outside, so ended up dripping it down from the top, a drop of 18 inches or so. Got the stub of the float shaft removed, cut new threads on what was left, and reinstalled the float. So it should work again, if I ever put water in the tank again. A vendor seems to be able to make up hoses with the correct NH fittings, but didn't call back yesterday to confirm. Hopefully get that ordered today. Went around inside the tank with a die grinder and a ScotchLoc disk cleaning off spots of corrosion, so it's ready for POR-15 this morning.

Spent the rest of the afternoon working on the next project, a 30,000 gallon water tank for the top of the hill. Looks like about $450 for the building permit, and something like $0.60/gallon, including installation. I can probably cut that down if I can do my own dirt work, and find one that can be installed on a gravel bed instead of concrete. Hope to get a couple of quotes today.

Happy Hump Day!

Good morning, the internet is more cooperative today, yesterday I struggled to read posts. At first I thought it may be an issue with the mesh wifi I installed last week, however tests showed that was still working fine, I could connect to local sites, the longer delays only came when trying to get further. Perhaps the bottleneck was caused by too many people watching those cat cuke videos. :)

Pleased to hear that no one got taken out by the storms.

The news this morning is dominated by the devastating explosion in Lebanon, which seems to have been caused by fertilizer. I am sure that will make many farmers think twice about their own storage of such a useful but potentially deadly material. Around these parts ammonium nitrate is called "bag muck", to distinguish it from the fertilizer that comes from a cow's rear.

In 1947 there was a huge fertilizer detonation in Texas, I wonder if the story of that was passed on to those of you living in that region ?
Texas City disaster - Wikipedia

Not on the same scale as Texas City / Grandcamp explosion, an intentionally set fire detonated a fertilizer plant in West, Texas on April 17, 2013.

West Fertilizer Company explosion - Wikipedia

It didn't get a lot of news coverage, outside of Texas, because the Boston Marathon bombing was two days earlier on April 15, 2013.

On April 19, 1995 the Murrah Federal Building was destroyed by an ammonium nitrate / diesel fuel truck bomb.

Still no cable/internet for 25 hours and counting. No idea what the issue is.
83 going to 89 today.
Ellen’s older cat is leaving us today, he has been sick for a while, old age wasting syndrome, this morning he can’t stand and his bladder let go, so he’s on his way to the vet if he makes it that far, then on to the rainbow bridge.

53°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 78° today. Can't say I ever remember having an overnight temperature that cool in August. Looks like by the weekend we're back up to around 90° again with lows in the 70s; much more normal for this time of year here.

Two of our peach trees are loaded with peaches, but they're all small this year. The third tree has hardly any on it. The pears on our pear tree look small this year as well.

Saw a few videos of that Beirut explosion yesterday. The Oklahoma City explosion caused a lot of damage for a truck that size. But, seeing the actual explosion in Beirut yesterday was almost unbelievable. The power of fertilizer is just scary.

The OK City truck bomb was 3 1/2 tons of ammonium Nitrate.

The Grandcamp, in 1947, held 2300 tons.

The Beirut storage was allegedly 2700 tons.

Sorry about your corn, Chris. Would live trapping do any good?

Luckily it isn't really my corn. A cousin of my wife's farms it. I think he farms 1000 acres so I guess he doesn't have time for animal control. My sister in law lives on the farm. a couple of years ago the ground hogs were moving too close to the house. She had a guy come in and set traps. He got 17. Of course there are squirrels and raccoons joining the festivities. If you could sell ground hogs and poison ivy we could make some real money.

70F and mostly sunny @ 11:30, high for the day predicted to be 74F. Looks like minimal chances for rain for the next 5 days.

Precipitation over the last few days has really greened up the lawn and gotten it growing again. MMM clean up and blade sharpening on agenda for today, as grass will need mowed in short order.

Caught a young raccoon night before last, saw a possum rooting around near back door last night when I was locking up.

More garage clean up done yesterday, got last oil drain pan emptied ... need to wipe it out this morning and put it away.

Also got two paint brushes which had dried polyurethane on them all cleaned up.

Sanded down one of the two pieces of old PT 4 x 4 for the bottom of the auger rack and got it coated with BLO (will use BLO for the rack as it much cheaper than stain)

Filled in around catch basin with more topsoil ... need to run over that today with the tractor to compact it, then probably add more to level it out, then sow some grass seed.

Remove Simplicity tire and wheel and drop off at tire shop to have new tire put on.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ...

68°F and .26 inches rain.

Wife says area looks good where I mowed pool area. I’ll take the compliment.

Reworked materials list for my caretaker studio project. Besides redesigning a bit, I had also used a good portion at the cottage last year. Getting the Lowes online ordering to work was a struggle. Even their CS doesn’t appear to know what the problem is, just a problem. I’ll recheck today and hope I’m in the system.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Thanks for dropping by David MFW! Good to hear from you again, and good luck with your ZT hunt.

Saw this tally on Facebook here, covering the larger of the fires burning in California now. The largest of them, the July Complex, is northeast of here and is now 130 square miles in size. Most of them are in Northern California, and I've either ridden through or camped in most of the locations. It's really sad to think they're now mostly smoldering wastelands...

Today-sun and clean up from storm
Randy-sorry to hear about Ellen's cat

Tree fell across my neighbors driveway do went and took the saw over their since husband away at work.
Lots of branches down, some will need sawing today
Power was out most of yesterday, but generator got us through.
No internet until an hour ago.
Full cleanup will take time.
Tree at neighbors broke near Y and 2 branches of the three came down- main stem is still up, but I can see straight through were it's attached-probably an 8" hole with trunk attached with a few inches on either side about 20 feet up. I can say this one looks scary and told her to stay away from it for now.

Tornado touched down in Doylestown-not too far from me- took roof off a building and flipped cars.

Stay safe and be well-see some other TBN people had flooding out west of me- looks bad-hope their insurance covers them

Sorry for the loss of love one give Ellen hug for us.

make that about a hundred hugs from all of us!
Never easy but sure don't want the cat to suffer.

chemo was great today though they started late, thankfully took four hours instead of five.
Spent good bit of time with oncology docs going over my med list, was able to cross off four mineral supplements I don't need
because labs show my levels were fine. Oncologist said he would order another PT Scan next time I was in, but said first one was usually
very indicative of how things were going. All good. No sinus headache this time but tinnitus is really an issue, the sound of the a/c unit in the rv
seems to set it off. But all my labs were in range, docs were very happy, and said they would have everything done by end of September so I could head North.

then went to pick up first med order at local
Walgreens, very pleasant experience, all of it was ready, and what they didn't have they tracked down to another store
which I will go pick up tomorrow. Much nicer experience than CVS

had some Dinty Moore beef stew for dinner, pretty bad...then had some blueberry Chobani with added blueberries and that
sure tasted better. Need to go food shopping tomorrow after I get the rv set back up from run to propane dealer.

We had pop up storms starting about 4:30 that have dropped 1.3” so far. That’s about what we got yesterday in the storm.

So sorry about Ellens cat

Glad things are progressing nicely Drew big storm now lots of heavy rain

Rain all around us today but none at our place. At least it is much cooler at 81F.

My bank account is at $0 today thanks to a glitch in BOA system. All accounts show $0. This should be interesting on how the figure how much money everyone had.

Anyway, prayers for all and be safe!
