Good Morning!!!! 69F @ 4:45AM. Sunny. High 94F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

That's quite a roller coaster ride, MFW, kinda makes my exploits seem tame by comparison. I like your approach for the future, FWIW, but then I'm probably the last person from which you should consider relationship counseling:laughing:

Glad things are settling down for you, Drew. Some states will issue a title and registration with a simple payment. The names of them escape me at this time, but google is your friend. The Harley under the cover should have been a clue about the loud neighbors. And you'll only be able to fill the propane tank to 80% capacity, so take that into account when you try to figure how long a bottle will last.

Even with slow fishing, Bruce, it beats workin' for a living... Glad you diagnosed the trolling motor problem.

At least it was a dead rat, Don...

I couldn't even make Paint-By-Numbers look like the box cover, Paul. Your wife has more artistic talent in her pinky than I have in my whole body! Good to see progress on the giant landscaping project, too!

Every time Apple ratchets up security, David, they seem to have not thought it through very well...:muttering:

Smog inspection was a bust yesterday. First guy demanded he drive van into inspection bay, so I politely declined and left. The last person I let drive it broke the gates off the shifter linkage. Called a few other shops, ended up with one that had never seen a Subaru conversion and was stumped as to how to proceed. No charge, but no registration, either. Have a call into the SMOG referee, supposed to call back sometime in the next three to five days, and if they miss me, I have to start over again. In the mean time, I have some homework to do to better understand what happens next. Bank visit was a waste, too. As soon as I told the teller I wanted to close my accounts, she pointed me over to a "personal banker" bank of waiting chairs where I spent the next half hour waiting. Had a noon appointment at the new bank to arrange for a safe deposit box, and had to walk out to not be late. So I'll close things down with BofA next week, and be even happier to be rid of them. I did get the brackets and boards for the shelf, and got it cut up and installed last night after I got home. Also grocery shopped in Paradise, enjoying the very fresh produce they had, but not so much the limited selection of a smaller store. Drove by the big Safeway sign that still stands next to the cleared off concrete pad where the giant grocery store once stood before the Camp Fire burned it down, and several other still vacant lots as well. Still a long way to go for that place to be even close to recovered.

Back on the firetruck this morning, sanding and priming the inspection hatch on top, maybe painting it, too. Maybe some homework this afternoon after it gets hot, but I'd like to get a WiFi antenna mounted up in the attic if it's not too hot up there...

TGIF gang!:drink:

Good morning, cloud is breaking up, should soon be nothing but sunshine with a high of 27C/81. The grass cut on Monday is drying nicely, if the rain can hold off for another couple of days it should make some good hay.

Mostly, only one thing to do after a poor fishing day - try again ! :fishing:

Dinty Moor is knew to me, a search suggests it is - ring pull food for meat eating beavers ???

MFW, you've had more ups and downs in those last 10 years than some of us with more boring lifestyles manage in a lifetime !
Unless your AWSOME job is top secret, can you tell us what it is, or do we have to try and guess first - marriage guidance counsellor ? :)

Rick, are you leaving the stump as a nesting place ?

"Rick, are you leaving the stump as a nesting place ?"

I'm thinking I would just create huge ruts trying to push it down now since it was a live, healthy tree. I'll give it a year .. for the roots to rot, then push it over. Leaving it full height gives me greater leverage to take it out .. including the root ball.

Tried that with a live oak here that broke off about six feet up in a wind storm. Darn thing started sprouting again. Fortunately, the Camp Fire came along and toasted it for good, about the only good thing to come out of that.:grumpy:

pretty sure I have to get it inspected first (??) which means I have to have it up there.
But worth a call to PA DMV to find out. Good idea, thanks

looks pretty clear I have to go to DMV and get a PA driver's license first, then get title transferred, etc etc
Motor Vehicle Information for New Residents

Drew maybe you can get a trip permit to move the RV when you move that is how I have moved my trailers in the past.

If it does that (doubtful). I'll drill some 1" holes, at 45° angle and give it a drink of Remedy / diesel.

You would have thought . . .

Good morning! 76˚F, feels like 76˚F, wet bulb 75˚F, humidity 94%, dew point 74˚F. heading to the 100s clear skies, DDOA.

This morning I'll help an elderly neighbor with his gutter.

I followed Gray2 this morning and he positioned himself on a rock ledge between 2 neighbors houses. That must be his hunting ground. He sat there for a few minutes and then came home when I called him - good kitty.

thanks Steve. Doesn't seem to apply to me here, only deals with oversize and overweight trucks, not registration
NCARPS Remote Application Submittal
Single Trip Permits valid for one trip over a ten-day period to move vehicles (including load) that exceed maximum legal size or weight over state highways

successful morning, got my shot, got my Kindle, distributed Entemanns donuts to lots of appreciative nurses, then picked up meds at Walgreens and came home.
Decided inside of car was getting pretty crummy looking so took some windex and a cotton towel and cleaned the inside windows and dash. Plus I wiped down all touchpoints with a sanitizer wipe. Pretty cloudy out but rain not due in for awhile. Thunderstorms with strong gusty winds, think the awning will stay rolled up today.

And you'll only be able to fill the propane tank to 80% capacity, good point RNG. Thought it was interesting that guy who filled tank just pumped it in until it hit some overflow device and cloud of gas vented. Hmmm. Guess it's full....but everything works fine

Hope your Friday is a good one.

Good morning to all! Low of 60, going for 89. 30% chance of those non-existant showers. The forecast lacks any more chances of rain for at least a week.... so much for our "monsoon season". Everything just started to turn green, now it will just brown again.

Drew, glad to hear that the incident with the load neighbors was settled easily. Adapting to RV life could be a challenge for most, but sounds like you got it squared away. Maybe take a road trip up to Pa to take care of the stuff before you get up there?

Buppies, that was a big job.... 1K tons... how long did it take?.

Ron, thanks for the deer pic. Hope your day slows down a bit.

PJ, the wifey's pic is really good for her first try. I, too, always watched Bob Ross as a kid. He always amazed me with the ease that he painted. He is still on our local PBS at night, we sometimes watch in order to "fall asleep". Amazing how that works too...

Speaking of falling asleep... last night I tossed and turned for over 4 hours.... I was SOOO tired, but yet, could not fall asleep. Dragging this morning....

RNG, sounds like your coming near to the completion of another project (fire truck).... what is next on the list?

Yesterday's errands were successful. Computer was operating as should be for the wifey.

After I got home, I started to prepare to put in another gate into the backyard. I did not think ahead when I put the fence in. There is a walkway gate, but no access for the tractor. When additional mulch or any landscaping maintenance needs doing, it would have to be done manually. That is not going to work. I have all the needed materials, but it was just plain too hot to do it ...... so on this morning's agenda.

I retreated into the shop and made an oak shelf that the wifey had been wanting. Unfortunately, something got lost in the translation when she was describing what she wanted. I made the shelf "full size" for the area (36" long x 10" deep)....... nope ... way too big.... she wanted a little trinket shelf, about 12" long and 4" deep..... I really missed the mark on that one. The big shelf will have a different home somewhere... she has not decided yet.

So, maybe some shop time again today....

Everyone have a great day and start to the weekend !

APPLY/PAY FOR REGISTRATION
When registering a vehicle, the title first must be in the name of the person registering it. We cannot register a vehicle when the title is addressed to someone else.

To register a vehicle, the owner must show proof of North Carolina Insurance. This can be done as an FS-1 form, an insurance card on paper, or on a phone. The individual registering the vehicle will then pay for the property tax (which is based on the county they live in), and the license plate (the amount is based on the weight of the vehicle. The average price is $36. At 7000 lbs, a vehicle must register with a weighted plate).

If a temporary, or 10-day, tag is needed, the owner needs to present a valid North Carolina ID, and proper insurance information. The fee for the temporary tag is $10, and a $5 cash notary fee.

The registration of the plate and the property tax is then paid each year. If this is not paid by the last day of the due month, a $15 late fee will be applied. This will increase by $5 for each month after, up to $25. There is no longer a 15 day grace period.

Good morning 71 going up to 81-cool and wet today-

TXDon- cat did good- our make cats would just watch things go by and our dog just likes to chase critters, not catch them
Mostly-long time since I had a cat fish fry- good stuff
Roy-glad to hear your fence is still together
Rick-that stump could be made a nice sculpture :)
LS-Glad computer is all straightened out
RNG-pictures of firetruck updates? Good luck with reggie-some states are just a PITA

Drew-see if any (reputable) companies can help with reggie-sometimes a third party can get in the path and maybe get you a temp travel reggie? And pork stir fry looks good!

Stay safe and be well

74 going to 88, probably more storms...got 2.2" yesterday...ground quite soggy...we've gone from famine to feast in a week.

PJ, I'd like to look at that painting every morning when I get up. Real nice job by your wife.

Mostly, catching any fish is fun.

Rick, you've been a busy beaver on those trees. I always think about how in Texas you use burn piles, whereas up north (and right here) I save everything of any size to burn in the woodstove in winter. Only done one burn pile and it was small. But I do pile brush and small limbs over dead pine logs to build brush piles. I guess if I didn't have the space, or was living in a dry area with wildfires, I'd burn it instead.

Speaking of wildfires, lightning hit barely off our property up the road in yesterday's storm, 5 to 10 minutes before any rain arrived. I went to look for fire, but didn't see any and then it rained over 2 inches.

Things went great at the dentist...until I tried to start he truck...I noticed when we left home that the engine starting sounded weak. Fortunately, I was only a block from the auto parts store, so walked over and bought a replacement...not the battery I would have picked if I was out shopping, but it did the job. Carrying it a block back to the truck wore me out. I could tell I've lost some strength since the gym closed in March. Then I had to pick my wife up where I'd dropped her off at the grocery store, hoping her frozen items were still cold.

Forgot to post this snake pic yesterday from my hike at the park...I've nicknamed a number of places in the park where I often hike, but needed a nickname for this spot...now called Copper Hill. First copperhead I've seen in over 5 years.

Thought it was interesting that guy who filled tank just pumped it in until it hit some overflow device and cloud of gas vented. Hmmm. Guess it's full....but everything works fine

That's what's supposed to happen. There needs to be room at the top of the tank for gaseous propane to form over the liquid below it. That's what the 20% empty tank is for. There should be what looks like a slotted set screw somewhere on the valve body. It covers a tube that stops high in the tank at what is supposed to be the 80% level. Remember, he's pumping in liquid propane, under pressure. So he hooks up the fill hose, cracks that set screw, and lets propane gas vent as the liquid propane is pumped in. When the level of the liquid propane gets to the bottom of the level tube, liquid propane starts spurting out of the setscrew, and the tank is full. Close the screw, turn off the fill hose, disconnect it, and yer done.

At least that's how I was taught to do it...

Steve, thanks. I read this that the property tax still needs to get paid, or they will dun me for it. Which is 400+ bucks on the motorhome.
But worth a call to local DMV, will explain my situation and see if I can get a ten day extension from Sept 20.

been washing floors and being domestic.
got my lab results back, red blood count a little low (cleared to eat more red meat!) but of course can accomplish same thing by eating beans, spinach
and other more healthy stuff. They also recommend vitamin B12, which I looked up. 1000 dosage but they say body can only absorb 2. ???Which is in my multivitamin
anyway. Of course the pill bottles/marketing doesn't say that, webhealth does...

Now for a nice roast beef sandwich to boost my red blood count...with swiss cheese on rye. Wish I had some horseradish, but a big slice of
Vidalia onion will do.

70°F and ,97 inches rain last 24 hours.

Trip into Hilo first thing for Sophie’s ophthalmologist appointment. Been a month since last one be interesting to see what he says. She is not particularly happy with results so far.

Also make store run. Know we need milk and POG (passion, orange, guava juice)

Hoping for dryness upon return so I can get the tractorshed area painted. Latex paint just doesn’t seem to work well for me in the rain.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

81F (which is the predicted high) and partly cloudy @ 13:00. 0% chance of rain.

Hear crows crowing off in the distance.

Simplicity did not start last night. Starter drive did kick out and engage the flywheel though ... it sometimes hangs up when it has been sitting for too long, especially if it has been outside in the rain. Suspect shaft needs lubed, will see about that today.

Cleaned up another brush that had dried paint on it before I went to bed.

Clean mower deck, sharpen blades, locate spreader on menu ... amongst other items ... if I can get to them ...

Need to pick up another set of garden hose quick couplers from Harbor Freight, sunflower seeds from TSC.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ...

That's what Jim's Dr. told him - remember - about a month later I was at his house witnessing his DNR/hospice request.

Your docs could use a couple of semesters of basic nutrition. Remember you want to feed your blood not the cancer cells. Your body absorbs plants better.

"The same has also been found for cancer, with up to 12% increased risk for every milligram of daily heme (animal) iron exposure. In fact, we can actually tell how much meat someone is eating by looking at their tumors." Plant versus Animal Iron | NutritionFacts.org

Now these are the best plants:

"Those diagnosed with iron deficiency should talk with their doctors about first trying to treat it with diet, as iron supplements have been shown to increase oxidative stress. The healthiest iron sources are whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, dried fruits, and green, leafy vegetables, which can be paired at the same meal with vitamin C-rich foods such as citrus, bell peppers, broccoli, and tropical fruits to boost iron absorption."

I can't laugh too hard. I've been down a bumpy lover's lane for the first 41 years of my life. Somehow God showed me mercy and brought me a wife whom has a firm grasp on our religion.

David Mossflower, hope the dust settles.

PJ, nice painting....happy mountains. Hopefully happy pond soon.

Drew, hope you get the DMV figured out.

Ron, nice photo.

Don, Gray2 extermination services. Ka ching.

So my daughter told me there was a squirrel in the pecan tree in the front. We got the chihuahua all fired up to let her chase it, and just as we opened the door, one of the chickens stormed over and chased that darn squirrel, wings out for balance and pecking at the tail, about 10 yards to the big oak tree, along with the fired up chihuahua on a similar but different chase vector, just two steps behind...I almost fell over laughing. Surely could have won a $10,000 video prize IMO. :)

Randy, tell Ellen I'm sorry for her kitty.

It's hot here....NO JACKET REQUIRED.

Working on the mini bike. Had to take off the engine's right side cover to properly load the kick start return spring. Now I'm trying to figure out what I want to do for the wiring harness, to get a spark. Old points/condenser/magneto ignition. Parts are hard to source. I can get some of them aftermarket.
