60 start today and going to stay there all day. Rain in the forecast for today and tomorrow. Went for my 3 mile walk yesterday, blew leaves and raked for a few hours. Decided I would start on the paver project in front of the other garage. Started digging for the retention boards and promptly heard and felt something pop in my left knee. Now sitting on the couch with and ice pack and a cane by my side! I've had enough surgeries on this darn knee to put 3 children through college!!! Going to try resting it for a few days to see if it gets better. If it doesn't get better I am going to try a new doctor in Boston. Maybe they can change out the replacement and attache everything back correctly. Hoping it just needs rest and ice.
Drew- My mother in law has been trying to get her license for over 3 months! She was adopted from Canada 78 years ago and the forms she has don't have tracking numbers on them.(didn't need them then) RMV doesn't care they want numbers! Had to go through immigration looking for new form and they are taking there sweet *** time with no communication. She's had her license since she was 17! Been through numerous renewals. Why so hard now?
Be safe and healthy all!

good morning all
62 out now dropping to 59 today as rain starts soon followed by colder weather.

when I got my Makita blower on Amazon they had the typical buy this plus this below listing, and I did, getting the extension nozzle that
concentrates the air. Fiddled with it for several minutes before I gave up, doesn't fit this model. Thank you Amazon. Back it goes.

off to insurance agent this morning, they asked for copy of my old policy since it was on a preferred format and new insurer basically wants proof. Ok. I can still qualify for
preferred pricing track, usually 15 percent less at age 70, but not much older. Once you are on, they usually won't take you off, but you need to get on in time. My insurance runs about 700 dollars a year for Audi, less when truck was on due to multi car discount. Will be interesting to compare PA and NC pricing, am guessing might be more expensive here due to population density. Amount of stupid deer about the same...

Local friend of mine sent me a post card and an envelope from two different locations as we laughed about crazy DMV rules. So with SS card in hand, birth certificate, photo driver ID, lease, etc
am hoping third time will be the charm.

Might go food shopping on way home from insurance visit this morning, pick up some baking items. Got my kitchen supplies in, baking tins, mixing bowls, measuring cups. I really did have to start all over. So nice to have a microwave now, keeps my coffee warm, and I don't have to wait for toaster oven to do its thing.

Contacted fuel oil dealer landlord suggested, which she thought was one of least expensive ones around. Well, no...they quoted $1.79 for prebuy of 400 gallons or more, another place selling it for $1. 55. For those of you still buying fuel oil, what are you paying this winter?

Dehumidifier in basement making loud noises, something else on last legs here, so I ordered a new one from Amazon. Couldn't justify cost of commercial one, five times more money, but got a top rated large home unit. Basement has channel around outside of concrete pad, and moisture comes right in. I'm going to get some extensions for gutters and run the downspouts further away from the house to help. Due to lack of hanging closet storage in house, have to store clothing/coats in basement and that damp smell will ruin them if I don't manage the moisture.

David, sorry for pig damage. No wonder they go on big hunts in Texas, very destructive animals. That view sure is awesome...

59 outside this AM. That should be the high. Rain moved in earlier this AM, but it is not raining now.

Got the vinyl delivered yesterday, late....so all I did was look at it. No dumpster pickup...sigh..company says they had issues, will pickup sometime next week.

More porch ceiling work on tap today. Very slow go, ladder work and shoulder. Have about 8 feet left. Used two tubes of caulk, filling seams and holes. Very happy with how far it has come.

Moved some dirt around late yesterday too. The new horse pasture manure pile was dug into a hill side, so we moved that. The dirt, we turned it often, was/is amazing. I filled some holes with it, leveled out some water line trenches, and generally had a lot of fun. It was nice listening to tunes and watching bugs bounce off the glass and not me.

On pigs, some say we have some around here, but I have never seen them. Nor their destructive calling cards.

Hope all have a good day, and a good start to the weekend. Be safe.

Drinking first cup of hot coffee. 26° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 54° with sun and some afternoon clouds. Canceled grocery shopping yesterday. Got frame work up for cellar door. Have a Dr appointment this morning. Then do yesterdays grocery shopping. No other plans.
Sandhill Crane keeping a eye on me.

Buckeye, Happy belated Birthday wishes for your son.

Drew, I have been sucked into those add item list a few time. I am much more careful now. Hope you got all needed for DMV. I question the need for 4K. My new bedroom TV is 1080. Not all the 4K ones I looked at had OTA TV.

Phil, hope knee gets better soon.

Riptides, sure hope you are getting done with the overhead work.

Rick, searching for a new UTV.

RS, do you need a conserve energy day? I do after reading your day list.

Don, nice to know the UPS will last that long without running out of power.

David, what a mess. But the view.

LS, geese will have a nice place to stay. Visited Bosque del Apache a few years ago.

RNG, hope you get bike engine back together.

Everyone stay healthy and safe.

Good Morning All

Not good way to start retirement :( speedy recovery wishes.

56 and raining hard the last couple of hours. Temps dropping from here today.

Phil, sorry about your knee...hope it gets better fast.

Was able to clear error codes on my roaster and roast a batch of Costa Rica and one of a Nicaragua coffee. New micro-fan part is scheduled to arrive today, which will hopefully fix things.

Mowed just about all the yard, hiking paths and frisbee field yesterday...lots of leaves on the ground under the trees already. I'm sure today's rain will knock more off. Have only found one garden spider this year. We used to have webs around the house and feed them insects we would catch. I wonder if the late freeze killed some. A fair number of acorns in the woods, but not seeing any pecans and fewer persimmons, also due to the late freeze in May.

/ Good morning!!!! #120,331
Phil, not a good way to start your retirement, hope that knee gets better fast. We have several bad knees here...

waiting to call fuel oil dealer with cheaper pricing, want to make sure the current price is also the prebuy price; might not be

Then will call my 93 year old MIL and hope to stop by her place on way back from insurance agent. Will get some chocolates for her at place in Newtown, she will fuss over them and then be delighted...at her age she should eat whatever gives her pleasure, and she's too thin anyway.

Ron, great crane picture. The tv I got was mid spec, and thus good value. Chasing highest spec costs way too much, and lower spec doesn't save much today.
I must say I was mesmerized by looking at 8k demo video, you felt like you could reach out and touch things, so I understand the attraction, but for someone who watches almost no tv, and who has no desire for bragging rights, just not a good fit for me.

/ Good morning!!!! #120,332
So sorry about the knee, phil. I hope it gets better fast for you.

wngsprd, I discovered two nice persimmons trees right before a creek on our back property. We were cleaning up the tree lines. A few days ago, I decided to try one. BELCH.
My whole mouth went fuzzy. That's not how I remember those things were supposed to taste like. Needless to say, the wife is debating about taking one down, along with a really nice pear tree because they are in the new horse pasture.

It was an odd year for fruit here. No peaches, no apples, and an ugly tasting persimmon. LOL. Even the grand old walnut tree does not look dangerous this year.

/ Good morning!!!! #120,333
Rip, our horses loved persimmons...they would reach as high as they could, and even pull the lowest branches down to get more. You will like them better if you eat them after the first good freeze. They are astringent until fully ripe...try one again in a couple of weeks, unless the coons get them all.

/ Good morning!!!! #120,334
Good morning, the temp here is 33°F and going to a high of 45. Wind WNW 4 mph. A mix of sun and cloud with a 40% chance of showers this afternoon.

I don't have a lot planned for today, other than conserve energy.

Happy Birthday befs' son.

Last May I paid out $3.39/US gallon of HHO. I have no idea what the current prices are but I can tell you that the price of gas is up over a buck/L, so furnace oil will be up there too.

I have a wood order coming today. Some 4x4s and 2x8s, for a platform for the greenhouse my DIL bought. I won't be able to get at that until it stops raining.

Have a safe day all

/ Good morning!!!! #120,335
Good morning all, 41 going up to 61 and calling for more than 1 inch of rain-we keep getting the months total rainfall in 1 or 2 rains!
Did not get anything done yesterday, no chipping or leaf blowing, will have to do this weekend if it drys up engough

Roy, New Wheels! congrats and many years of trouble free use!
Sodamo - great view - pigs=bacon!
Phil, sorry to hear about your knee, hope it's a temporary thing

Stay safe and be well

/ Good morning!!!! #120,336
Good morning! 60˚F heading only to the mid 70s. Last night was a good night for the UPS test and it worked flawlessly, thanks for the suggestion RNG. All that we know is that a major power line had a failure and most of the town went black. Duh. Hopefully more details will come out today.

Phil I was just ready to start the virtual paver project with you hope you can continue but the project is tough on the knees.

No dew so a early start on mowing today.

/ Good morning!!!! #120,337
Good morning to all! Low of 31, no frost on anything because the humidity is only 8%! Did I mention it has been dry here? Going for a high of 70 today. Usually when a front comes across, we at least get a chance of rain.... we have had 3 fronts so far, not one sprinkle.

Phil, I hope the knee gets better. Not the greatest story I want to hear about.... my replacement is scheduled for February. I have heard both sides of the spectrum about knee replacements......

Drew, hope the DMV comes through for you today. You sure are busy!

Ron, hopefully that crane is not keeping THAT CLOSE of an eye on you!

I did a little more sorting of the wood yesterday, but could not get in the mindset to start ripping it all. Got the tractor and went to the end of our road to fix a bunch of potholes. Spent a couple hours grading where the gravel meets the pavement. The hydraulic top link sure made it easier! Now I really want to get the side link set up....

Then tinkered around with some metal and a steel corrugated step, trying to visualize how I can add a second step to the tractor. I have been thinking about how to do it off and on for months.... the light bulb has been elusive.... It needs careful mounting / support to withstand my weight repetitively.
I got a couple of ideas, but no ahh-haa! moment.....

Today, should be "ripping day".... if I can get myself in gear.... It is supposed to get windy again tomorrow, already have fire weather watches and red flag warnings posted.... so today will be my last opportunity for nice weather for a couple days to open both garage doors while working.

Everyone have a great day!

/ Good morning!!!! #120,338
30°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 62° today. Another windy day tomorrow, then more rain in the forecast for Sunday through Wednesday. We ended up not get a whole lot yesterday (we were just catching the tail end of the system), so hopeful next week's gives us more. Still really dry here.

After battling a slow computer/internet/website combo last night - took me an hour-and-a-half to do what should have taken about 15 minutes - and a crabby dog, I decided to pop in a music DVD and relax the rest of the evening. Watched Dream Theater's Score DVD concert from the final show of their 20th anniversary tour back in '06 at Radio City Music Hall. Epic stuff. Haven't done that in a long time, and it was nice to just relax and watch some ridiculously good musicians do what they do.

Yeah, Mostly_, it was back to the grind this week. I was surprised at how little catching up I needed to do. Some of my coworkers surprised me by doing things I figured they'd just leave for me to do when I returned. Looking across my desk this morning, there is only a blank pad of paper sitting on it. That's not a bad view on a Friday.

/ Good morning!!!! #120,339
Good morning. It's a breezy 56° here, with a 12 mph north wind, after the cool front came thru overnight. Our forecast say only 67° this afternoon. We had a bit of rain before day break.

Grand Daughter, freshman at Texas State, texted me that she needs a break and is coming to spend the weekend with me. Maddie only has two in person classes, which are labs, so she's getting cabin fever from doing virtual classes in her dorm room. She's anxious to go look at new UTV Side x Sides with me this weekend.

I need to start searching for a new utility trailer, for whichever UTV we buy, to replace the previous 12' x 77". The side x sides are all about 13 1/2' long so .. a 14' trailer.

My Kubota ZD-1211 has a 6' deck that is about 75" wide so .. I'm going with an 83" wide trailer. Trailers .. seem to be in short supply because of COVID effecting manufacturing and increased demand from the start of hunting season.

Hope everyone has a great Friday.

Prayers to all.

Heck Rick, a real red neck could haul 13.5' sideXside with an 8 foot trailer. Or for that matter a real red neck could tie it on top of their Corolla with bailing twine.
