Crew One, Space X launch was exciting. Wife and I compared to what we watched growing up. Amazing.

Expect to get my 2 doors installed, then get doors and Windows trimmed.

Good morning all, 34 going up to 53, sunny and cold.
Spitting-have not heard that in years, since we were up in MA. Say drizzle in NY, NJ PA.

Roy - sorry to hear about your neighbor - our thoughts for the family
May have BIL/SIL but probably not, My Brother and SIL will be here day after if the states don;t close down again
Fox last night in our yard when we went to walk dog, boy can they run

Had to go into Manhattan (NYC) yesterday, will need to go in Friday too.
Was weird since I had not been there since March.
Streets empty, no traffic, Lincoln tunnel in, GW bridge out, no traffic until Mid NJ since everyone felt it more important to be using phone than driving.
Not fun watching the swerving at 75 mph due to people with phones, and luckily all the accidents were in the other direction. All rear enders, wonder if those texts are so important?

No Paper towels in most stores again.

Stay safe and be well

Don. We aren’t planning our TDay gathering, just as we didn’t have a Spring or 4th of July gathering. Several folk have already mentioned missing these annual socials. Got an email last week from the couple planning this year’s Christmas party cancelling the reservation for the county park hall for this year. Our neighbor who hosts the annual neighborhood Christmas gathering has already expressed concern it might not happen this year.

Company usually has a holiday party every year for each location. They chose not to this year. Instead they gave us each a link and access code to Omaha steaks website.

With three options.

Steaks, chops, chicken, burgers and dogs.

Steaks, shrimp, and stuffed sole.

Or seafood: 4 split lobster tails with 2 types of salmon filets.

The first and third options came with potatoes au gratin, and caramel apple tartlets.

I chose the steaks and chops option. I'm not a fan of frozen seafood or fish.

What, no plant based options?:D

Right now . . . or so far . . . Younger daughter and granddaughter are planning for us and older daughter and her husband to get together for Thanksgiving at younger daughter's home. So 6 of us from 3 households. Of course, my wife has an appointment in the morning for cataract surgery on one eye, then will go to the doctor's office for follow-up the next day. And who knows from there. Then Monday, week from today, I have an appointment with that same eye doctor. Sure hope he can do something worthwhile with my right eye.

So whether we get together for Thanksgiving isn't sure yet. They expect me to bake a ham and make the deviled eggs.:confused2::rolleyes:

Yeah, they did. Coworker pointed it out. Apparently there was a "see all options" button

The vegetarians are getting screwed. That option is 16 veggie burgers that looked like they were made out of pressed baby poop. Some succotash, green beans, and the caramel apple tarts.

We are going to our son's in-laws house for Thanksgiving dinner. We'll bring a couple desserts, and a side dish. Then Friday is a 3 hr drive up to see some other family members.

Day off to an interesting start.
As per routine I trotted out to tractor shed after my exercise bike to check our electric system. Had already checked online but there are 2 meter readings I still record every morning. System on thelow side as we have had significant cloud cover last 2 days resulting in power generation being less than usage. Thought to myself, “still time to get lucky and sun start shining before we need the generator”.
Walked back to kitchen and hit on button on the Kuerig - nothing. A quick look around and confirmed no power. Back out to tractorshed, sure enough system not putting out power. System had put out call for generator but nothing. Strange.
Well, operator head space and timing. At some point during my project work I had unplugged the battery charger. Generator doesn’t auto start with dead battery. Ahhh, but I have backup. Nope, batteries on diesel dead as well. Too complacent I guess as I haven’t needed generator power since Jan 15, 10 months. Was able to jump start generator with my diesel pump battery and get powered up. All batteries now on chargers.

Wx not cooperating for my outside project work with on and off rain.

Tomorrow...

Wife just said we are down to less than a whole pack of paper towels, and asked if she should get some. I said “too late”

We are planning to have mother in law and one niece and her husband come for thanksgiving. Still expecting wife’s sister to mess things up.
Wife got a 20 lb turkey at aldi for $.89 a lb.

Worked part at home, part in office. Thought we fried a test unit today, turns out I was able to re flash it and it was a software problem.

We got .2” of rain yesterday, this morning was warmer wind, now a cold wind.

We have inlaws and outlaws coming over for Thanksgiblets. :) Actually I don't know if anyone of them have ever had to go down to the bighouse.

Making some filter adapter rings for a special forces nightvision scope with a Larue attaching base. Part of a project at work.

Yamaha GT MX 80 sitrep: I asked about compression ratios on another forum and a guy tested his 80 and got 115psi. I wonder why my 80 runs so good once it's started with only 30psi? My Shindaiwa only shows about 3 to 5 psi.

I went to the junkyard to get a battery. They saw me coming I guess. Anyway, I picked the biggest top post they had, that checked good. It is about a year old. It will be for the Steiner. Paid an extra $3 for a 30 day warranty.

Good evening all. 35F for the start, clear, calm wind. Light to moderate wind today, mostly clear sky, and high temp was 68F. Started with leaf sucking, for 3 hours, then was dragging so bad came in for lunch then nap. No gopher activity today, think the castor oil is working on the critter, sulfur on order.

39F and cloudy @ 22:30. Headed down to a low of 34F for the overnight.

Just got back from picking up Menards order a little bit ago. Only thing they didn't have were the driveway markers ... will get those at Massillon later this week.

Refilled tube feeders first thing this morning as they were getting low, and stuck another ear of corn out on the squirrel feeder. (It was picked clean within an hour or two, with a pair of beautiful bluejays cleaning up what fell to the ground)

After filling the feeders I noticed there was a bird hoppin' and squawkin' outside the back door ... looked a little closer and it resembled a nuthatch but was mostly reddish brown ... possibly a house wren I guess. Then I noticed that there was another one that had managed to enter the sparrow trap which was sitting on the concrete. So I went back out and set the trap up on the sawhorses and opened the door and coaxed it out.

Put a coat of BLO/beeswax on the lid of the second squirrel feeder and melted it in with a hair dryer.

Mixed up a bucket of whole cracked corn, black oil sunflower, shelled peanuts, walnuts, raisins for the squirrels. Still need to add some peanuts in the shell and maybe some acorns if there are any still out there, might look tomorrow or day after. With how quickly they seem to go through the ear corn, I think I may limit feedings to only when the weather gets really bad out ... or limit how much or often I fill the feeders ... otherwise I can see them emptying a feeder in a day or two ... and stashing food in places they don't remember ...

Neighbor came down yesterday morning. He's putting up a pole building and wanted to know if the delivery truck could come up the drive to the gas well and across our property to drop the materials to avoid tearing up his lawn. Sure ... no problem. Looked out there this morning and saw this:

IMG_0688 copy.jpg
So I grabbed the chainsaw, cut it up into a couple of pieces and hauled the larger ones over to one of the wood piles to be cut up for firewood. After that The Woman and I cleaned up all the small sticks and I put that on the burn pile. Then I gave the neighbor a call to let him I had located the key for the padlock on the gate. So barring any further wind events or tree falls he should be good to go for material delivery.

After some French Toast for brunch we spent some time discussing the bathroom remodel and then I worked on finishing up the Menards order.

Went over to another neighbors this evening and had a look at a couple of couches and stove/oven she is looking to get rid of. All were in good shape, will probably take one of the couches, and possibly the oven ... depending on how wide it is.

After that we made the run up to Menards and The Woman looked at tile while I loaded the order into the van. Unfortunately not a real big selection on the tile front ... :(

All in all a reasonably decent day though.

Hope everyone had a good one ...

Mostly
I like the windows, just not the way the trim sits on the flange.

32 going to around 40. Should be a sunny day with little wind. Hopefully will get one more round of leaf pickup in. Hoses and faucets are picked up and shut off for the season. Need to put the hoses and reels into storage. Looking at a low of 19 coming on Wednesday and Thursday night so I need to round up all the freezable stuff and get it stored away. Will have to head to the store for some 2 cycle oil and a tank of gas. I like to always have some on hand for the chain saw. Back pack blower used up all I had left.
We should have the same core family members as always over for Thanksgiving. One of the good things about my wife having such a small group. I will be calling my 8 brothers and sisters thru out the day. No other family members are left on my side.
Hope everyone is safe and healthy!
