RNG there is some doubt about the vitamin D since Brazil, which sits on the equator, and the people are full of D, and they really got hit hard with Covid. It could be that the unhealthy people have a deficiency in vitamin D. Anyways the dosage you are taking will not cause Vitamin D toxicity which is really bad on the kidneys. Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin and will accumulate in the body, I just hope in a few months we don't see a lot of kidney problems from D toxicity.

We had .62" of rain today in the cocorahs gauge and .58" bounce off the Tempest weather station
The cocorahs is the gold standard.

Good evening. It was 56° and racing at day break, rained off and on all morning, but eventually got up to 64° this afternoon. The sun came out about 2 p.m., resulting in a very nice afternoon.

Our forecast says we'll see high 60's to low 70's the next 4 days until next cold (cooler) front passes thru .. on Thursday.

I spent most of the day in the shop completing several small projects and then more shop organization.

The shop building includes 1200 sq. ft. quarters, we spent weekends in .. before building the ranch house ten years ago. The quarters have become a "catch all" since I retired so .. I'm focused on going thru everything and sorting everything into keep / donate / recycle / trash. I replaced the constantly flickering, crappy, fluorescent fixture, above the sink, with an LED, direct wire fixture. What a difference.

Getting ready for our first annual OVFD "Turkey Fry", this Wednesday , to benefit our New Building Fund. We advertised 12-15# fried turkeys for $35 to the local area and the response was surprisingly good. Seems everyone really loves fried Turkey .. if they don't have to clean up after. About eight of us will be bringing our frying rigs to the VFD Wednesday morning and we'll start distribution about 2 p.m.

We also made a great deal, with Berdoll Pecans, to sell their Pecan Pies, for a nice profit as well.

If this goes well .. we might expand to adding "smoked turkeys" next year and "advertise" to a larger local area.

Hope everyone has a safe and peaceful Sunday.

Prayers to all.

At my annual physical, back in September, my Doc told me my daily multi-vitamin gives me sufficient Vitamin D.

Generally our deliveries have been on time, even early for a couple.

We've had the same UPS and USPS folks for about ten years and both very reliable. FEDEX is good .. but they deliver to us, from multiple locations so .. several different delivery folks.

The only hiccups we've had recently .. is the interface between Amazon and USPS. For instance .. I ordered a 100' roll of #24 gauge red / black wire, for adding lights, horn, etc. to our new Polaris Ranger. The first roll delivered, on time (Amazon Prime), but .. the flange on one side of the plastic spool was broken, held together only by the label. I contacted Amazon, set up a return / exchange for another spool of same wire. Two days later USPS tracking indicated Amazon had dropped it at our local post office. Ten days later it was declared LOST and .. that I could now request a refund. I contacted Amazon and requested a 3rd roll of wire be sent by priority shipping, and not USPS. 11 days later, an undamaged roll finally showed up .. in my mail box.

Coffee is brewing. 34° with fog this morning. Heading to 36° with cloudy skies. Never got a single drop of liquid from the sky yesterday. Went east of my. So no snow removal today. Doing what many would call spring cleaning in the house. So will continue with that today. Just have no idea what I am going to do when spring does arrive next year.

My deliveries have been pretty good lately. Nothing like the 2 month delay on a package missing in the system from USPS. Had one delay last week. Shipper had put label on package so half was on top and side. Someone finally hand scanned the bar code. I wonder how many packages like that are slowing the system down.

Prayers and best wishes for all.

Good Morning All.

Good morning, the temperature is 29°F and the high should be 36. Wind ESE 8 mph.
A couple of inches of snow came overnight and we will be getting a 'mixed bag' today.

I didn't get to the trees yesterday. A plugged sink was more important. Junior wanted to get the snake out, I told him to pull the plug on the 'P' trap and run a big zip tie up and see what he could feel. Sure enough, grease from the sink. I keep telling them NOT to put grease down the sink and they keep saying that they don't and yet the trap was full of grease. I guess there is a phantom grease monkey that puts the grease in the sink overnight while we are sleeping.

The trees are going to get done today, come **** or high water.

As for plowing today, well I will leave the 2" of fresh snow we got until after the temperature goes back down below freezing and the freezing rain stops. I don't mind up to 1/2" of freezing rain on top of fresh snow, my 240 lbs will bust through the ice crust and the snow underneath will make for a soft landing spot if I do fall. The ice on top of a hard surface is what makes things so slick. On top of fresh snow not so much.

I have an arrangement with Canada Post, in summer large packages get delivered right to the door, but in winter after the first snow it is their choice and I would rather they held them at the PO and leave me a card. The mail lady has this P.O.S. that is only one wheel drive and couldn't pull the skin off a peach. I don't want to be pulling her out of the ditch. When her Dad did the mail he used his own 4x4 and always got through. The PO supplied the p.o.s. she has now and wont pay her mileage on her personal 4x4.

Canpar and Fed Ex delivers to the door regardless of the weather. Purolator motors right past my door to go to the Township office and will NOT drop anything at the house, we have to go to the drop spot in town to get their stuff.

Have a safe day all

16 right now...high about 30 today...

I'd posted yesterday (might not have been on this thread though) that the 4052 wouldn't start yesterday...just "click...click". The panel lights were bright as were the exterior (headlights, work lights). I initially thought the battery might be the culprit...upon further reflection, my guess is it's probably the starter (might be some ice)…when it lightens up, I think I'll give the housing a couple taps with a hammer.
If that works, I'll hit the driveway again this morning

good morning all
slightly warmer day, rain and snow showers this morning

Not going down RS' driveway is silly, unless there is no place to turn around.
Like at my place, no way to turn around and with exception of Amazon vans, UPS and Fedex park out on the street and
carry packages in. Amazon vans always back in, can hear their beeper alarms easily.

sounds warmer in Texas now, nice.
my multivitamin says it provides 125% of Vitamin D requirement at 1000IU. Most of the supplements seem to be
at 5000IU so no wonder there is some overdosing here.

Might build a birdhouse today after run to supermarket for blueberries and bananas. Berries these days seem to come from Peru a lot, makes me
wonder what their agricultural safety guidelines are. And their blueberries seem to be immense at times, as if they were bred for size not taste, like
our chickens. Blueberries are high in antioxidants and I try to eat a lot of them.

fuel oil truck showed up yesterday, too soon actually, I had only burned 48 gallons from last delivery.
I prepaid for 500 gallons and looks like I may not even use that much.

20F cloudy 30F for high chance 1" snow later today.

While doing outside chores this morning young Doe came to visit she had white patch hair on right rear quarter so I name her Patch, when I departed Patch was enjoying her breakfast before squirrels birds show up....E muffin time.

Little over 3 hours pushing w a y back snowbanks yesterday afternoon,B2650 did great job but miss weight and width of L2800HST,I shall be looking for older style Meyers 6 1/2' snow plow to attach to bucket.
Mrs. last about half hour on B2650 and said it rides rough with ice tire chains went inside started baking...she did good job push snow.

Sure hope before Thursday rain arrives lot folks will clean there roof off 18" + snow.

Plans for today... collect all game cams, couple wheel barrow loads wood inside, watch little football than numb it rest of the day.

Enjoy the day all.

Good morning. It’s 24 headed to 38 today. Overcast, supposed to have some mixed rain/snow showers this morning.

Yesterday I did make some progress on the speaker, should make even more today.
I had to go to Quakertown and help diagnose a hydraulic issue with a snowplow on a small dump truck with a central hydraulic system. Turns out that they installed a new plow blade and didn’ move the cushion valve from the old one. They must have caught something with the edge of the blade and blew out the o-rings the angle valve spool, so the blade would not hold an angle.

Our deliveries have been pretty good, but USPS is hit or miss. Yesterday I received a small package sent first class from KS on 21/1 to PA. My wife sent some sock vis priority mail to a town about 20 miles away that took two weeks. I would say that Louis Dejoy has done measurable damage to the post office. Hopefully it can be repaired, up until this fall it was always very reliable.
As I was clearing the parking area at the end of my lane, a Ups truck showed up. I told the driver he was brave to come all the way up without knowing if there would be room to turn around. His reply was “you’ve never let me down before”.

SPL is Sound Pressure Level, measured in decibels. I measure the response of the speaker with a calibrated microphone, a signal generator, and measurement software. I don’t have an anechoic chamber, so I do it outside.

Good morning, dull, pouring with rain, yet even so, this is turning out to be a pretty good day.

Last weekend I found a ewe stuck on her back, which is not that unusual. Often they only need righting and holding steady for a short while, when released they generally take a few steps followed by a massive pee, then walk off. Not this one, after a few attempts I had to give up and go for the tractor to take her home with me. The transport box was already on the 3pt, so I was only away for 5 minutes. As I drove back into the field I could see 2 crows, positioned either side of her head. They were hopping and flapping their wings, each taking it in turn to distract her. Fortunately I got there just in time to stop them taking her eyeballs for breakfast.

I put her under cover in a pen close to the house. This pen is rarely needed this time of year, she had to share it with 3 builders bags of firewood, not that she complained, they were ideal for keeping the wind from further chilling her soaked body. I hoped she would come round as she warmed up and after a couple of hours she was quite alert, lifting her head at the sound of my footsteps. When a sheep wants to die it will, although this one though looked at me as though she genuinely wanted to live a little longer. I brought 3 other sheep into the adjacent paddock for company (sheep are even more inclined to die if left on their own).

The ewe did not recover in the following days, still unable to stand and almost all the food and water by her side were left untouched. A friend who knows everything about sheep had a look at her and said to give it one more day, after that she would have to be shot. There was no improvement, I would shoot her in the morning. I checked the pen at first daylight before going to the gun cabinet in case she had died in the night and was amazed to see her standing, with all the food eaten, most of the water drank. Now she is out walking as good as ever.

My wife always says that when you get to the end of a tube of toothpaste, there is always a little more left. Running out of hope seems much the same.

Work Scroll Compressor.....like roseanne rosannadanna would always say, "If it's not something, it's something else." The unit was shutting down intermittently. So I correctly diagnosed that the unit's coolant oil wasn't flowing to and from the radiator. No delta temp difference. I looked all over the web for information, but found none. So I made a video of us removing the thermostat component, and showing what it looked like. It has a "wax" type thermal spring loaded thermostat, that was broken.

Kyle, is that you talking on the compressor video ? After what you said before about your accent, I was pleasantly surprised to clearly hear and understood every word without needing a translation app! :)

35 and cloudy, going to 42...no snow this morning, but was only a 40% chance.

Eric, great job saving that ewe. Your wife is right about the toothpaste.

Thomas, hope your wife now appreciates even more what you have to do to keep the drive cleared.

Mostly, pretty sure it's a coyote, but a big one. I've been capturing it on the trail cam about once every week, usually around 6 or 7am. I got a red fox photo on that same log yesterday...a big difference in size.

Worked on the flood debris and sand accumulation at my little bridge yesterday...lots of fresh air while I shoveled sand and pebbles, close to where that coyote photo was taken. Brought half a pallet of firewood onto the porch...used the wheelbarrow since the ground is too soft to run the tractor.

Ron, we've had a flock of evening grosbeaks hanging around the feeders this week...like to get your camera on them.
