31 right now...hi right about 40 with rain and/or snow showers
Never did get my company laptop out of the truck yesterday...since we'll make a store run sometime today, I'll bring it (the laptop) in today.
I've been doing some research on back-up cameras...thinking about adding one to the tractor...in fact, I started a thread:
https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/owning-operating/433080-back-up-camera.html
Any of you folks have a back up camera, how about posting your experiences on the thread?
I have after market ones installed on three different work trucks at work. I really like them. Can't remember the brands. But they are pretty much plug and play. Just gotta supply power and run the line for the camera.

The two service trucks have night vision as well as gage lines. I like having the gage lines. Once you learn the distance for the green, yellow and red lines, your good to go.

Work light placement versus camera placement is key though.

The one on our flat bed truck is pretty much useless after dark. The back up lights for the truck wash out the screen. Nothing like trying to back the truck up and having the screen turn bright white in the dark. At night with that truck, I end up wrapping a large rag around the screen to keep if from blinding me since there isn't a way to shut the screen off while the truck is in reverse.

On the service trucks, the back up lights are up high and the the camera is shielded from the lights by a three foot step bumper. On the flat bed, the back up lights shine directly on the camera.

Good morning all, 30 going up to 48 and the sun just came out.
Too wet to go clean up the brush still.
Cut up some pumpkins that were sitting around. Deer already visited and had a snack, had 5 or 6 does.

Light sensor for pathway lights stopped working. Touched it and got a mild shock (transformer runs the lights, so 12VAC).
Looks like something was chewing on it?? Set transformer on timed on/off for now.

PopG- Keep seeing small planes overhead-wonder if that's you and the son sometimes ..
RichB1 - glad to hear you're getting some of you senses and strength back.

Ran by the BIL and SIL house yesterday- she still has a cough, but they are pretty much over Covid. Masks and distance- but good to see them for a bit.

Stay safe and be well.

36F and cloudy @ 12:45, which is the predicted high temp for the day. Temps set to fall throughout the afternoon as another cold front pushes through.

Most of snow and ice on driveway has melted ...

Some further cleaning on agenda, then likely get back to bathroom renovations.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ...

Indeed great new Rich  just take it easy. :)

RichB1; that is good news. Descending stairs is almost always easier than going up. Bump, bump, bump.:D

I went up and down stairs on my butt for over a month when I couldn’t walk last year.

Good morning, we had a sprinkling of snow first thing, which looked good for a while, now most of it has turned into a slushy and almost transparent soggy coating.

Kyle, toppling that dead oak looked very satisfying. Is there a reason for two to die so close together ?

I probably have 5-8 more to pull down. Some say "Oak Wilt", some say drought, but most every tree I've used for firewood around here had a version of carpenter ants that bore through the outer rings, making long tunnels and homes.

Got sidetracked yesterday wife and I went to Blacksburg looked at job we have to do ate lunch at the Farmhouse then rode up 77 thru Big Walker Tunnel up to Princeton then to 64 Lexington then home long afternoon

Prayers for all

Sounds like a nice ride...car time with someone is a good chance to talk, or just listen to music that you both like.

Billy, how far does a "walk" have to be, to be considered a "hike"? :) Sounds like you had a good "one of each". Hope Coco is doing alright.

New friends invited us over this weekend for a meal....she asked about providing a curry dish....I squinted my eyes and said I'd prefer something else. I can do some curry, but after the 5th bite, I've had enough. They gave my son a dirt bike helmet, and some racing gloves, left over from their 14 yo daughter's riding days.

Our grocery store chain, H-E-B (rated the best in the country), has a newish flavor of their store brand ice cream called Coconut Almond Chocolate chip.....holy cow, it's as good as Baskin Robbins IMO.

Prayers for Buppies, Ron, Randy, Drew, and others I might have missed. Also for our country.

Good evening all. 43F for the start, overcast and windy. Wind slowed down in afternoon, few peaks of sun early afternoon, and high temp 55F. Rain in the Forecast for next few days, took snow out of forecast, looking at 2.5 to 3 in ch of rain, then colder. Leaf pickup this morning, bike ride and nap this afternoon, then prepped insert for burning, and filled wood wagon.
Covid update: Cooke, Montague, Grayson, local, unchanged.
Kyle when splitting did you pay attention to the cracks in the rounds? That made a difference in my splitting success rate.
Billy the German Shepard sounds interesting. Glad you had a nice hike.
Ron good to here cellar is getting cleaned out. Nice squirrel. I don't try to avoid wildlife as I don't have time to plan an escape route. They don't always avoid me.
Bill enjoy your seat time
Buppies hope the wife time went well.
Thomas hope the Mrs will take you to your ride.
RNG sorry about the oatmeal, good luck with cutting the groove for circlip
Paul speaker looking nice and I'll bet will sound as good.
Rich congrats on getting up and down the stairs.
Don the weather will be in your favor.
David with 26 inches of rain?
Ken sorry about light sensor, Good to hear BIL/SIL doing well and recovering
RS good to hear snow melting good luck with bathrooms
Kyle stepdaughter lost an Oak due to Oak wilt. Then uneven rain make the tree weaker and more prone to insects mistletoe etc.
prayers for all especially Jay/Peg, Kyle's daughter, David(moss)/remodel/divorce, RNG/fire, Ron/hearing/son/furnace, Jim/sister & family, Phil/wife's eyes, Randy/health, and Country.
stay safe and health you all.

BEF; way back in the last century some drunk (I wont mention any names) buried a razor sharp hatchet in my foot while I was splitting firewood for a camp fire. I had spent about 3 hours filing and honing the hatchet. I could shave with it.
Lesson #1, don't split wood barefooted.
Lesson #2, do it close to sober, one beer or maybe two but certainly not a dozen or so. I had been drinking since noon and did the deed at 11 P.M.
Lesson #3, crutches are a ***** on stairs.

That little mishap cost me a week off work and a chipped bone in my foot that will be there until I drop dead. 5 stitches is all I got.

Bit over 4 1/2 hours mowing. Had about 10 minutes left to finish the area when shear bolt broke. Guess that will be a task for the morning, along with getting the belt back on the Craftsman.

Up to pee and a quick cup of coffee...quick perusal of TBN and other websites, than back to bed
31 right now...looks like it's flurrying outside. High today will be in the mid-20's.
Chores...dump run (need to make sure it's open!) for a bunch of cardboard from Christmas and a couple weeks before. Need to get lottery tickets, so may as well make the dump run too.
Wifey and I didn't go to the grocery store....she much prefers to go with step daughter (that's OK with me!)...that's their chore today

Good morning, nice to get back indoors this morning, having my face washed by sleet is not my favourite way to start the day. Looks like this is how it will be for the next few days, with temperature rising only a smidgen above freezing during the daytime. A perfect day to spend time inside with wife and woodburner.

Read about a new strain of CoVid this morning, first detected in England, that is much more contagious than the original. We're starting to see cases of it in the US now, too, but at least the vaccine is supposed to work on it, also.

Despite quite tight measures to prevent people coming into contact with one another, Covid cases are on a steep rise here and hospitals are fast approaching the point of not being able to cope. It is thought (but not fully proven), this new variant is contributing to this by being both generally more contagious and also in the way in can be caught and passed on by children, which was relatively rare before. They say the only reason the death rate is not higher than it was at the start of the year is because of the experience gained in treatment, but even then it can be touch and go - as Rich knows all too well. With vaccination still at it's early stages, this could be a long winter.

Rich, great to hear you are still on the mend

Good morning, low 2°F and high 19. Wind NNW 5 mph. Mainly sunny.
I can handle that.

Today is an energy conservation day.

Covid is ramping up here, too. All of Ontario is going into lockdown. Northern for 14 days and southern for 28 days. The hardware store is going to do curbside service only. The grocery stores are allowed 50% of normal capacity. I don't trust anyone to buy my food for me and deliver it curbside.

Have a safe day all

Coffee is done brewing. 21° with mostly clear skies this morning. Heading to 30° with mix of sun and clouds. I did conserve energy. Feel much better this morning. Have a dentist appointment this morning. No other plans for the day.
MY furnace saga continues. A new furnace was ordered on the 26. Contractor checked it out. Wrong model. Very basic furnace. Contractor thought he got it straightened out. Gave me model number ordered. It was a downflow model. Need a upflow model. :banghead:
Still staying warm.
Moon was bright yesterday evening.

Rich, good to hear you are getting better everyday.

Buppies, car rides are good. Especially if they do not have a destination.

Eric, Covid numbers have dropped to numbers that were being reported before Thanksgiving here. Still over 2.5K per day But not 8 and 9K.

Everyone stay healthy and safe.

Good Morning All.

good morning all.
36 out now, only going up to 38 today, with snow flurries this morning and then sunshine.
Going to call my primary doc this morning and ask what the plan is for vaccine shots.

has anyone else had their doctors call them on vaccination? I'm figuring sometime in January

39 high of 45 today more rain on Friday. Looks like our cold weather went on vacation

Prayers for all

light snow working its way East and will be here shortly, will get Popgadget's farm first.
Doesn't look like it will accumulate though.

I'm getting more serious about getting a snowblower. This raking gravel out of the lawn
is the pits. An inexpensive electric one with a 100 foot cord should do just fine, and they
are remarkably reliable. Just wish they were self propelled. While Honda makes a nice 3500 dollar one
I think the 200 dollar Snow Joe will do ok. The six inch snow we just got was all this area had last winter, not like NY or New England.
And if we ever do get a big snow of over a foot, I'll just call the the landscape guy and his truck.

/ Good morning!!!! #124,540
32 going to 45, but will get windy.

Buppies, sounds like a nice drive. I haven't been out in the Blacksburg area in 7 years.

RNG, I like my oatmeal over easy, rather than well done :). Hope the smell is gone today. Yep, probably special forces. Interesting to me, our state conservation police officers (game wardens) use mostly retrievers. They can sniff out where someone has hidden a duck over limit, or hidden lead shot where non-toxic is required from "a mile away."

Kyle, I think of a walk as just around the house and fields, basically where ever Coco wants to go, while a hike is my choice, on a trail. A lot of my mountain hiking, in addition to being invigorating, has been "training" to get me ready to go back and hike a mountain I last hiked in my twenties. Coco is finishing her first week of CBD oil...I haven't noticed any difference except she always has the munchies :). I'm waiting for the snail mail to deliver a new strength medicine that gets compounded in New Jersey.

Rich, glad to read you are steadily improving...sounds like you have many of the best tastes back although I didn't see coffee listed. :) First night in your own bed in about a month is something to savor.

Ron, sorry about your furnace.

Replaced some cedar siding on the house yesterday...been waiting for a day warm enough to give the caulking time to cure. Took longer to get the old wood off than put up the new.

Was supposed to go visit my mom today, but delayed it a few days due to sore throat and sniffles...nothing serious, probably due to being out in the cold wind, and lots of dust.
