Don, maybe one upside of the cold is that it will zap some of the insects. Around here if something would zap the spotted lanternflys and the deer ticks I'd be ok with that.

33F and partly cloudy @ 09:45 ... but it sure looks sunny out there to me. Headed up to a high of 39F for the day.

Spent pretty much the entire day yesterday working in the fish room, cleaning, moving fish around, etc. Probably do some more today. That might change, depending on what The Woman's plans for the day are.

New monitor is on the truck and out for delivery a day early. It's UPS so I'll track it on the map and when he gets close I'll head up to the road since there's still a bit of snow and ice on the driveway ... just so he doesn't have an excuse for not delivering the package ...

Cost per KWH on most recent electric bill was $ 0.045173. Supposedly we are under a rate which was negotiated by a non-profit - NOPEC - which is an aggregation of communities in Northern Ohio, although my statement shows "Energy Harbor" to be the actual biller of record ... :confused2: Was an opt-out deal ... and we didn't.

Need to finish up Amazon order and get that placed, probably refill feeders as well.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ...

Buppies,

Sorry to hear of the recent doctor report.

Wishing you the best and a complete recovery.

Good Morning!!!! 51F @ 7:45AM. Some clouds this morning will give way to generally sunny skies for the afternoon. High 68F. Winds NW at 5 to 10 mph.
Yesterday was supposed to be a big wind day, but gusts just missed 30 MPH. I noticed the burn pile smoking a little bit when I went up to put some mail out, and stopped long enough to give it another long drink. Another round of hissing as the water found another bunch of hot coals. Probably do it again this morning.

The techniques used to develop the CV19 vaccine were science fiction a hundred years ago, Drew, so who knows what another hundred years might bring. Could it be that more genetic advances in that time will extend our lives long enough to find out? I have little hope mankind (or is it peoplekind these days?) will ever learn how to get along well enough with each other that police and military forces can be disbanded. And don't forget there's always evil aliens to contend with.

Are you sure you're not off by a decimal point on that electric rate, RS? Four and a half cents a kilowatt hour sounds too good to be true.

I ran a a search for "gate opener" at Amazon yesterday, which turned up some hits from USAutomatic, so their policy of only selling through installers seems to have some flexibility. The reviews there weren't as horrible as most of the other brand of openers available through Amazon, so I'll give USAutomatic a call today to make sure what's available through Amazon isn't gray market. With prices like those I need to make sure the warranty and technical support will be available to homeowners who choose to do their own installs.

The hood over the BBQ started having problems a month or so ago, and yesterday I finally got a round tuit. Turns out a shoulder bolt they used as a pivot had backed out, and I found it laying on the tray top next to the hood. And then I found the nut and washer that held it in place sitting on one of the grids over the burner on that side. I had visions of sheared pins or broken welds, so that was a pleasant and easy to deal with fix.

The day before, three old Aerosmith CDs showed up in the mail, and though they played fine, every one of them had cracks in their crystals. One even had a pivot tab busted off. I still have a bunch of spares laying around so it was no big deal, but if Amazon hadn't used a soft sided envelop to ship them, I wouldn't have to scrounge around for fixes. A copy of Aerosmith's first album showed up in yesterday's mail, and you guessed it, the crystal was cracked again. Someone in the postal system must take particular delight in torturing the little devils. A few times a year the DVDs that Netflix sends get busted, too. No streaming here, because satellite.:muttering: And because I like the security of having a permanent copy of the media instead of something that can be disabled with the stroke of a key.

Not sure I'll make it into town today or not, as several items are set for delivery and I'd like to be here so they aren't left out in an unlocked parcel box. Yet another reason to be unhappy with the postal service these days.

Time to get in some horizontal surface mining in the garage, and play musical chairs with the treasures found there.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

They turn the wheel that magically produces electricity.

Most people have no clue where electric comes from, other than the wall outlet.

Had discussion yesterday with coworker, he asked me about getting solar panels. I said they don’t help you ( had to explain grid tie) in an outage.

62°F and 2.59 inches rain. We’ve having a storm. Even the poor dogs reluctant to go out and do their duty.

Plan to get the wash let installed today. Doesn’t appear too challenging.

Otherwise, try to stay dry

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

I was wondering the same. We are an ALL GREEN energy town and our rate is .25-.30 per KWH. Not bad to save the world only cost 5X to 6X as much.

Are you sure you're not off by a decimal point on that electric rate, RS? Four and a half cents a kilowatt hour sounds too good to be true.

Nope - that is the cost for the energy used.

The NOPEC/Energy Harbor rate beats the normal Ohio Edison/First Energy rate by a whopping $ 0.002927 (per KWH) ... :D

The distribution charges (line maintenance, cost of infrastructure, cost to distribute, etc) are separate line items.

The total cost for this past month's usage was $143.92 ... (based on an estimated usage of 1,500 KWH, which actually might be high for that particular month)

Because we are on an extended payment plan (aka "budget billing") we paid $220.00 instead ... which serves to reduce the difference/shortage between actual charges and EPP amount.

If one combines the two bill components and divides it by the (estimated) KWH used, it makes the effective rate $ 0.095946666666667 per KWH (actual cost of energy + distribution and associated charges)

I, too, am extra cautious mucking around in the battery/dc side.
Your Timetric will require a shunt. Any chance your installer left the shunts in your GSLC? If so maybe they are same size. Curious if your installer said it could be integrated into system function other than observation.
No clue how to use settings in a Grid tied / TOU system but confident you can. Should be able to start with some very generous settings not taxing the battery and adjust as you become comfortable. On my generator backup, I’m comfortable letting mine run down to about 30% SOC, 50.8 / 2hr, 50.4 / 2 min start. I don’t generator charge back to 100% but enough to get me into daylight (hopefully). Of course TOU might drive difference thinking. Some think the Lithium sweet spot is living between 80-20% SOC, but most import not staying at 100% or below 20% as being life shortening.

How many rolls of TP did that cost ya?

Was telling Sophie we must have been a humorous site to some. I had the Toto Washlet in my cart with 2 30 roll packs of Kirkland TP right alongside.

Good morning to all! Low went to 24, up to 36, maybe hit 38 this afternoon. Now the weather guessers say we might get a dusting of snow this evening.

Staples are all out, wound is healing nicely. The doc was impressed with my range of motion, says that I am already at the range expected at 4-6 weeks after surgery. I am hoping that it isn't like previous surgeries, I recover really fast at first, but then hit roadblocks, really slowing forward progress. He did change my meds, so I am also hoping for better control of pain resulting in better sleep. Last night was the best nights sleep in 10 days, I'm hoping the trend continues.

PJ, the description of the Tx property you are looking for sounds identical to our search.... I hope we don't get into a competition or a price war over the same property!

I finally got all the red tape and discrepancies worked out with all the payoffs. It is definitely related to individual institutions, because a few were simple as pie.... click a couple of buttons on the keyboard and done! All these others must have antiquated / inferior programs or staff that simply don't know what they are doing. I am just glad it is all done.....

Buppies, extra prayers sent.... you have been dealing with this for a while... I hope there is a clean bill of health!

Septic guy finally showed up to replace the tank. After all the snow last week, had to let everything dry out a bit. He is one good operator! He is using a Case 'extend-a-hoe'. Boy, I would like to have one of those.... he's making quick work of it!

I'm gonna go hobble out there and see what progress has been made.

Everyone have a great day!

Monitor delivered, unpacked, and hooked up ...

It appears to be slightly larger than the one it replaced, very bright and good contrast, and no dead pixels that I can see ...

Plans for this afternoon revised somewhat: need to take The Woman's car in and have the oil changed.

Years ago we had a 30yo toilet that needed replacing. My roommate went to one of the big box stores to pick up a new one.

While he was gone, I pulled the old toilet and set it outside by the garage. While out there I had anphone call come through on my cell phone.

Without thinking, I flopped the lid down on the toilet and sat, talking on the cell phone and having a smoke.

Neighbor came walking by on the sidewalk. I waved to the neighbor. He looked up, did a double take and started laughing his butt off

Thats when I realized I was sitting on the throne

The meltdown continues...

Got my first Pfizer shot this afternoon. Had to drive to the west side of Harrisburg. It was a 4 day clinic put on by Capital Blue Cross. They were doing 250 shots a day. Busy Place. I wasn't the only person that looked a little nervous to be out among people again. Everyone had some sort of mask. My wife's sister tipped her off to this thing. She was on the phone for over an hour. The hold message said to use the web site but there were no appointments available there.

Have you noticed that there are a lot of attractive young women doing medical work or have I just been home too long? Of course I got a very large male pharmacist. Didn't hurt a bit.

I must have got there at a good time there was a line out the door when I left.

I stopped off at the farm on the way home. Looked like mud time. Who's going to rake the gravel back on the drivewayI wonder?

interesting email from local authorities:

Aerial photography drones will be hovering in the early night sky over Solebury
during the first two weeks of March, to help the Township get an accurate count of deer herds
and their locations. The drones, carrying infrared cameras, will be operated by FAA-certified staff scientists
from the Raritan Valley Community College Center for Environmental Studies.

the drone team will be operating from positions on Township-owned land, at the end of cul-de-sacs,
and along roads with wide shoulders. The flights will take place at night, many between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Buppies, so sorry to hear of your battle. I have just lost a dear friend after a 2 year battle.
It may be worth your while looking up the benefits of Black Cumin.
e.g. Black Cumin the Ultimate Life Elixir
Black Cumin Seed Benefits: An Age-Old Remedy for 摘verything But Death - Live Love Fruit

Wishing you the very best my friend.

Alien do you have the link to a study of black cumin seed and cancer. The link above goes to a pubmed website but none of the studies specifically mention cancer. I always like to look at the research study. Black cumin seed is a good food, no question about that, just looking specifically for it's roll in cancer prevention.

edit, found it in a link in a link in a link.
