Sorry for all your troubles, Drew. Maybe it's too late, but this article explains data migration from an older iPhone to one like yours. Pretty sure all I did with mine was to use iTunes to make a backup of the old SE and then use iTunes again to restore that data to the iPhone12. But it's been long enough now that I don't remember exactly how I did it. Just remember it took a long time...

iTunes is slow, but it backs up and restores everything.

Good morning, back to cooler days, white over with frost this morning.

Don, I am not familiar with bloodweed, is it as effective as garlic ? We seem to be vampireless, no doubt helped by having 6 of these species growing in the hedgerows

Trees to ward away evil spirits

When it comes to firewood, don't you wish trees were just one long, straight grained trunk?🤗 I did find myself cutting out most of the crotches and twisted limbs, then tossing them on the burn pile yesterday. Just not worth the hassle of trying to break them down on the splitter.

For centuries where I live people were smart at growing firewood that required minimal processing. In that pre-chainsaw era they favoured hardwood tress that coppice well, with the regrowth after first felling producing lots of straight poles to perpetually harvest.

When I first came here I tried to emulate that approach to easy firewood by densely planted a few hundred ash trees. That was not a great idea given the way ash disease has since spread - it would probably have been better to plant a couple of wind turbines. :)

Good Morning
26 and climbing to 41,
Breezy with fair skies for today.

Made great progress in the shop yesterday, wasted some time with the Tempest.
It dropped off line, the station wasn’t communicating with the hub. Ended up taking the station down and resetting it, then deleting it from the hub and re-pairing it. Nothing that I want to do every 30 days. I read online that this has happened to theirs, but after this ritual, the demon is exorcised and doesn’t return.

I’m off to go pick up the plane that is now fixed. Tonight whole family gets together for DIL’s birthday dinner, And I’m the chef.

good morning all. 31 degrees out and the little plants are shivering. High in the 40s today, chilly spell until next week.
Easter Sunday supposed to be cloudy and dry and much warmer. Going to my brother's home locally where we will spend most
of the time outside. My job will be to make a big fruit salad to bring.

I still have a question about resizing, thanks guys for the info. First I wish the posting process itself would autosize the pics but I guess that's asking
too much of the software. I always thought the software conked out at 10 megs but this last time it error messaged three times at 8.5meg. Maybe the site has
changed its allowable parameters? So I either have a choice of taking pics at lower resolution, say 4 meg with a setting on the camera (I'm assuming I can do this) or
I have to run an Apple app on them and resave, or process pics somewhere and then repost. With all the pics I post that's a lot of extra steps.
I also want to save as native resolution instead of saving smaller since then the resolution is lost for other purposes. I have a 2 TB hard drive now, not like I'm ever going to fill
that up. Looks like I have to read the apple manual online again.

and unfortunately there is no setting on the phone, they say to use a third party app. Ok...
I'm thinking 4 meg is where I want to be so folks can zoom in and still have clarity.

Turn on your camera.
  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the VR180 app .
  2. Check that your phone is connected to your camera.
  3. Tap More Settings. Camera.
  4. Scroll down, and then choose the settings you want for Video resolution, Photo resolution, and Live resolution.

19 right now...high in the mid-30's...

Boy, nice sleeping in today!!

Since I have a 3 day weekend, I'll spread my chores out, depending on how I feel.
I want bolt the snow plow markers on my front blade. There's no markers I found specifically for the Frontier (Deere) blade, so I'll have to improvise a bit. I have a brand new, never used DeWalt battery powered drill...so, I break that in. Once I mount the markers, I'll move the blade to a corner of the property.
I think I wrote this yesterday, but I've prepped my snow blower for the warm weather seasons...also, I don't like to leave any implements directly on the ground. For the last several years, I've set it on cinder blocks (solid ones), but after the years of use, those blocks are pretty much settled in the ground. Haven't decided if I want to dig them out or what yet...maybe run down to the lumber yard in Bethel and see if they have any in stock
Also want to get my 3PH chipper out of the shed so I can get to my lawn roller and aerator. Too cold today to use the aerator...ground isn't thawed yet, but will be soon. I'm also going to need the chipper soon...within a few weeks I'd say.
Since the field has a lot of standing water and not a lot of growth yet, won't need the flail mower...not for a while.
Although I'm not planning on going anywhere today, if I do, I want to get some off-road diesel
How much I get done today...we'll see...

Guys, there's another image resizer I've been using for several years...

30 and windy, getting up to 47.

Got a long hike in before opening day. My team got rained out, but watched Yankees and Blue Jays. Found out that Dish just dropped regional sports networks, including MASN out of DC/Baltimore, who played all the Orioles and Nationals games. Spent some time chatting with Dish rep. I guess I'll have to find another source.

Wunderground says 29 degrees, my weather station says 17 degrees, quite a difference.
Not looking good for the plants at this temp, when I take that cover off on Sunday I wonder what will be alive underneath.
Next year, I hope....a greenhouse again.

Don, are your potatoes growing back? They should...

this is worth reading. If we thought there were already enough disturbed folks walking around
the pandemic has now made things worse for a large number of people. Anyone you know who has issues with
depression is particularly at risk.

A study published February 2021 found that 30% of Covid-19 survivors experienced post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, a psychological illness that usually occurs after someone has a life-threatening experience.
If left untreated, PTSD has the potential to turn a hopeful recovery into a living nightmare. And while studies after SARS epidemic in 2003-2004 found similar rates of PTSD at around 25%, the scale of the Covid-19 pandemic is a key difference. With roughly 30 million confirmed infections in the US since the start of the pandemic, some experts say the world should be bracing for a mental health crisis.

Sounds like we will have a lot of family, friends and neighbors to give some extra love to so they stay on the healthy side of life.

How are you posting images to TBN, Drew? I ask because when I use the Safari web browser on the iPhone 12, I click the little icon that looks like a mountain. It brings up a dialog box that has "Drop image (Or click here), and I poke it with my finger. I pick Photo Library from the resulting pop up, and that takes me to my photos. I pick the one I want, and at the bottom of the display it tells me the size of the photo. When I poke the size with my finger, I get another dialog that lets me pick one of several resolutions to post the photo. Very non-intuitive, but since Jonny Ives came along, that's how Apple wants it. For social media, where the photos are being viewed on computer monitors and hand held screens, anything over 500 KB is a waste of data. I have the camera set to capture images at maximum resolution of 7.8 MB, roughly 16 times what is needed. If I tried to post the actual size image using my crappy satellite connection, I'd be waiting around all night for it to upload, and I'd run into my data cap before the end of the month.

Here are some sample images I posted from my iPhone as detailed above:

49 KB:

04F03C76-DD10-4A5F-A7AF-77E4B02A1280.jpeg

177 KB:

0ED719D7-CFAE-4D5B-9954-97F34990B074.jpeg

397 KB:

490EB0AF-CA65-40B8-87FF-B6DC52CF9CDA.jpeg

To further confuse things, the camera in the iPhone seems to save images at various resolutions. The native resolutions of all three of these images was different, and the four options for posting each one was also different. Regardless, at 397 KB, marked as Large in the image sizing option, you still have the ability to zoom in when viewed on a laptop.

Good Morning!!!! 56F @ 5:00AM. Mostly sunny. High 83F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.
We're back to no rain in the 10-day, but at least the high temps will be in the mid to low 70s. Yesterday it was 80F when I got back from town. That's nice weather for sippin' a cold one on the back porch at the end of the day, but not so good for workin' firewood and other chores.😓

Speaking of which, today I'll see if I can get a couple pallets filled with split wood from the rounds that are piling up in the wood yard. And maybe work a little bit on the building permit for the water tank...

TGIF, gang!🥳

Good morning! 19 now, allegedly gonna get to 40 later? That is what they said yesterday, have my doubts. I never saw above 34.

Mouth feels a lot better this morning. A little tender, but vastly better than when I went to bed last night.

Drew - mental issues after Covid are a real thing. I am aware of multiple people in my sphere of people who have had Covid and are now suffering mental issues. Most are PTSD-like symptoms, but 1 that works for my wife is having major short term memory issues. A co-worker’s mother has become paranoid and is terrified to leave her home. Reality is, I think it has made me less tolerant than I already was of people who don’t grasp the technology I deal with everyday. Including co-workers. People have noticed and commented on it.

I should get some new front tires for my tractor. Been dragging my feet. Guess I need to make it happen.

Have to work Good Friday. We seem to not get it as a holiday like we used to.

Everyone have a good, Good Friday!

Stay safe out there

Dish is in my dog house, too, Bill. Seems like they keep jacking the rates and don't provide any additional programming. And when I call and threaten to change providers, their reply is "See ya!". Probably past time to call their bluff...🤬

I haven’t been on iTunes in a long time, I back up to the cloud and restore/transfer from the cloud or my old phone. It’s quick and easy. When your setting up a new phone it walks you through it. I usually order my new phones and they come with the SIM card for my account.
I'm jealous, Randy. If I tried to use iCloud for backup over satellite internet, I'd still be waiting for this new iPhone 12 to download what was on the old SE. That SE held 64 GB of data, which I used to think was a lot. By the time it was replaced, though, I was having to shuffle data off of it onto the laptop because it was filling up, mostly with video files. The new phone has 256 GB, same as the iPad. I hope it takes a long time before it fills up, but in another five to seven years, who knows what new data hungry app will come along.
