Good evening all. 55F for the start, partly cloudy, light wind. Light wind day, Clouded up some, and high temp was 78F. Cold front came through about 1, cooling off and rain rest of the week, will be riding around rain drops. Took wife to Dr. he had reviewed heart data and ER Dr and he are on same page. Wife has afib and another irregular heart rhythm. Made some changes to to prescriptions, and we will see what happens. Thank you all for the hopes, well wishes and prayers. We both took a nap after the Dr visit :)
Kyle wife heart health is better, medication should cut down on E-Room trips. Nice work on the mule, thanks for v-belt tip.
Prayers for mostly's wifey! And for LS's knee. Drew, hope you can keep the mouth pain at bay. It can be a rough few days.

So I have been feeling achy since Sunday. Figured it was from wrestling with the Kawi Mule. I got my 2nd Moderna shot yesterday, and woke up extra achy, headache, and low grade fever. I'm taking tylenol...mainly for the aches. Stayed home today.

RNG, bonanza on scoring all that firewood! Looks like you might be set for a spell.

Rick, thanks for the remedy tip.

Kyle, feel better soon. A nap is likely in order.

lawn crew left, am headed out to inspect, wonder if they tangled with the electric fence,

LS, good to hear from you. Pray the recovery keeps getting better.

I had outpatient surgery yesterday, sort of minor but there’s still some bleeding.
I did stop by office afterwards to do one thing then headed home, stayed home today. Been remoting in to do my work.

Wife left her plants on floor by the back door to get some sun. My son let cats up while she was gone and they mowed most of her plants off.
The funeral will probably be for both cats and the son. . She is livid.

Good morning to all! Low of 28 this morning, only going up to 61.... seems chilly!

My oh my, everyone has been busy! Took me a while to catch up.... now too much to remember to respond too....

I have still been battling the B/P issues.... nothing too extreme, but still a roller coaster of readings. I finally go to the cardiologist next week.

Ortho surgeon is very pleased with the healing process, says everything looks great, other knee (natural one) is in fantastic shape. He doubts that I will ever have any problems with it. That's nice to know.... I really don't want to deal with this again...
He said that I can stop PT if I wanted, or continue in an "easy mode".... stating if it starts swelling, I am doing too much. He still estimates another 6 months of healing....

We did bring up the subject of "post-op depression" with the surgeon..... yep , I hit 5 out of 6 markers.... just add that to the list of things to overcome. I am not the type to look at things negatively, so this is a real surprise to us.... I guess after 2 failed surgeries, and now a third that has stopped me in my tracks, it is expected. A tough battle to overcome, but I am tough.....

My boys have both stepped up to the plate helping out with anything they can, I really appreciate their help, but it is almost counter-productive, making me think about how limited I have become.... a vicious circle....

Enough with all that....

We are actually forecasted for a 40% chance of showers Thursday and Friday!
I hope it happens... been over a month since last precipitation. Our area was the "driest in the nation" last week. The humidity was at 2%... and a dew point of -10°.... yes, that dry!

On the tractor side, I was able to get a hydraulic side link setup. They were back ordered for a while. My son installed it for me to try it out, works great except for the cheap hydraulic fittings that came with it. No matter how tight, they still leak. I ordered some better quality ones, which arrived, but we still have to switch them out.

Drew, I ordered a 6'x8' greenhouse for the wifey.... should arrive next week. It only has one vent in the roof, then of course, the door. Do you think it will need more ventilation than that? I know you have some experience with cooking plants.... any suggestions?

I hope everyone has a great day! Prayers and thoughts sent to those needing. Mostly, I hope they can get your Mrs all fixed up!
Mate, I feel for you. It is hard to accept that you just can not do things like you used to be able to. Yesterday I had to fix one of the TV antennas. A simple job when I installed it about 8 years ago. This time I struggled and back was in pain and hard to breathe by the time I finished. I walked inside and said to my wife, " you know, I just can't do this stuff any more" . Hurts to realize that, but such is life.

Just came in from mowing grass, pretty dusty today.
I’ve discovered that if the grass isn’t too thick and I can cut at about 2200 rpm, I honestly burn about half of the fuel I do at 2800 rpm. Doesn’t seem quite right but that’s the facts.

I’ve got to pay the car club insurance bill, get the new sticker and bleach wash it before Saturday’s first cruise in, well the insurance is end of April, but I’m just going to get it over with so I don’t forget. Treasurer’s work is never done.

It’s going to be pizza and salad for dinner today, simple and tasty.

one thing if you're winning something, another if you're losing...

I got chewed out by a likely anti vaxxer at the car wash this morning, she/cashier was right up on
the latest news and said unequivocally that J&J vaccines gave you blood clots.
I don't care how few it was, one is too many.

Well ok, but life just doesn't work that way. Life has some risk, you simply can't engineer it out and only keep the good stuff...
I'm sure this will get studied carefully.

I don’t think vax vs anti vax is political at all, just personal. Many may attempt to rationalize their choice and that’s fine.

From my limited exposure there are 2 competing philosophies. Some waffling in the middle, but comes down to:

Vaxxer - for the greater good, willing to risk some personal exposure.

Anti vaxxer - my good only, not willing to be exposed themselves to perceived personal risk for greater good, but willing for others.

My choice is to respect your choice. If that means isolation from you, remember that is part of your choice. You should also respect my choice, be true to your rationalization and chose not to expose yourself or us.

Ted, sure sounds like good news for you 🤙🤙🤙🤙glad to hear it. Glad your other knee is good. For me I didn’t realize how bad the other one was until 1st one got fixed.

So true, Doug. I’ve been thinking myself that this may be the last year of major DIY projects. Having a challenge accepting that as it usually leads to thinking about something coming up. Just not used to being a hire it done kinda guy. Will be an adjustment for sure.

Breakfast in town was a no go. Don’t know why, but intended restaurant wasn’t open, no signage as to why. Disappointing and hope they aren’t another victim.

Otherwise, errands, PO and dump run were successful. At least until I was opening one of the boxes of grill parts and managed to slice my thumb with the scissors - geez, who does that????? Anyway it sure wants to bleed itself out. And it sure is an area that seems to get attention whatever I try to do. Not a deep cut, just managed to slice a 1/4 inch flap. Sophie says to take a day, but...

If you look at who is getting the clots with low blood platelets the odds for some go up - all have been women, child bearing age. Could hormones be a factor? Could the immune system that protects the fetus be a variable, could be some fascinating research.

The first observable sign would probably be a low blood platelet count, The opposite of a high risk stroke patient.

6 in 7 million is pretty good odds of something not happening to you. Yet people still play the lottery.

Here are the death rates from 2019 from official government sources.

And here are the top five causes of death that year, per 100,000:
Heart disease - 161.5
Cancer - 146.2
Unintentional Injuries - 49.3
Chronic lower respiratory disease - 38.2
Stroke - 37

You are far more likely to get taken out by suicide (13.9/100,000) than from the J&J vaccine, and with both, you get to make the decision.

And here are some figures for 2020.
No surprise that Covid-19 was the third leading cause of death in 2020, with 345,313. With over 5 million dead of it by now, it's probably the number 1 killer in 2021.

Based on that, it makes no sense to not take a vaccine that has a 90% chance of keeping you alive if you catch CV19. Yet people will still choose not to get vaccinated. It's a free country, and I respect everyone's choice, but as David pointed out, they need to respect my choice to not be around them.

Dropped the chipper's PTO driveshaft off at the dealer's today. They'll be replacing the pull ring type yoke with a push pin type on the tractor end and shortening the shaft by 2"-2½". The implement end with a slip clutch has a ring type yoke too, but since I connect that to the chipper before hooking to the tractor, I have more leverage...once it's connected, it stays on until I stash the chipper in the shed for the winter.
I think I wrote in an earlier post the drive shaft was marginally too long for the 4052's 3PH. I wasn't about to take the expensive risk of damaging the tractor's PTO drive...a couple inches shorter will still provide plenty of overlap
Also order the two outside rear view mirrors.
Hopefully, I can pick up the driveshaft and mirrors Friday, but since we're looking at between 6 and 7 inches of snow Thursday into Friday, I doubt there will be much outdoors work this weekend

The extender uses Lora, that should go 700 ft..

700 feet only gets me halfway up my lane. But- it would get me to my son’s barn which has WIFI. What if any functionality would be lost by not having it on my network, and using the internet to get from his network to mine?

You can add it to a WiFi network you have access to. It sends message to their server running on Amazon web, and it then sends you the email and text. I can’t say for sure 700 ft will work, but Lora is for long range transmission.

Their website says over 1200 ft and they tested at 1600 ft line of sight.

Or as Med Scape compared: The incidence of a blood clot from taking birth control pills has the same odds as J&J vaccine
and the odds getting Rhabdomyolysis from a statin are 1 in hundred thousand (10 times greater).

For those that think the odds are not acceptable.

Got some seat time playing in the mulch pile today. Potatoes are starting to bloom.

49 right now...high in the mid to upper 60's today...

Lent my neighbor my aerator (48" Agri-Fab pull behind) and two 42 lb. suitcase weights so he could hit some areas that needed it. Quite impressed with the performance of the machine...I'll be doing my lawn in the next week or two

Mostly_gas asked
Roy good luck getting mirrors, will you need to snow blow?
Doubt it...I'll either hit it with the bucket or rig the front blade.
