66F and sunny @ 12:00, headed up to a high of around 74F.

Hummer out again at the suet feeder over the kitchen sink window this morning ... not sure what he's gonna do with that. Must like that red suet cage.

Had strong winds yesterday afternoon with a fairly brief heavy downpour which tapered off to a light but steady rain. Couple more good downpours after that while I was over at a friends, but not as strong as the initial one.

Then another shot late last night where the wind blew and it just poured for a bit ... maybe 10 minutes or so.

Checking local weather stations accumulation looks to have only been around 0.20" though. Possible we may have gotten more locally here at the house.

At any rate, no doubt that it gave the lawn a decent watering.

More rain on tap for tomorrow and Saturday.

Calling for a high temp on Saturday of only 53F ??? ...

No work on plumbing got done as other things came up.

Did assist The Woman late last evening on getting two of her pots planted with annuals yesterday, still have one to do today myself. Will probably also have to make up some cages out of hardware cloth to keep the chipmunks out of them.

Also helped her weed the area next to the steps where her Stella D'Oro Lilly is planted. It has really started to thrive this year.

UPS truck is in the neighborhood with the part from Chapin ... (y)

Might work on that later this evening.

Have some spraying to do today, now that the areas I previously hit are starting to die off and I can see what was done.

Probably should also get started on weeding the planting beds that need it.

Hopper feeder likely needs refilled. Probably put out some mealworms for the bluebirds.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ... (y)

and RS, Ron and others in Mid West, be extra careful of ticks:

Drew,

Thanks for the heads up ... good to know ... (y)

Although typically we really don't see much in the way of ticks around here, that's not to say they are non-existent. Certainly could be different this year ... will keep an eye out.

Glad you got a decent amount of rain ... hope the shoulder greatly improves soon.

Our yard was in dire need of mowing, but we've just had too much rain, and more in the forecast for tomorrow and the next few days. So while it wasn't raining today, I tried out the EGO mower right on through the water, and with the bagger. I've got a couple of VERY heavy contractor bags full of clippings, but almost nothing stuck to the bottom of the mower.:D

Ticks have been out since March this year. Sassy is getting treatment for them. She seems to attract them. I do a check of myself every day.
Ticks are plentiful here also, trimming edge front field Tuesday remove 6 of those buggers. :(

68F few puffy clouds here and there with light wind, almost 180 degree from yesterday weather might even get frost in the north country.

One of the fox pups kept close watch on me more so when I trim around the road culvert...home away from from for the the pup it seems.
Good day all in all...Trip to town with extra stop plus critter food with no goof ups...Trim and mow the lawn today for tomorrow calling for damp afternoon...This evening feet up share bowl ice cream with kitten try NOT to fall sleep in recliner. ;)

Enjoy your evening all.

My cats are snoring on the couch

Mowed the back hill, along creek, and then other side of creek. Now that I’m mowing other side more often , getting more grass than weeds.

The dip in the front of the picture is the old mill race.

Haven’t noticed any ticks.

If I tried to mow all I’d get is dust, I have bare spots, if it doesn’t rain soon I’m going to lose my yard for weeks at least. Storms went all around us last night. We haven’t had substantial rain since April.

I got most of my assigned chores done, now it’s shower and ask permission to get in my recliner until the kids arrive late tonight.

I was typing something on TBN when my wife said something I missed, so I got the “ you don’t listen” speech. Then she goes to garden, comes back and said “ can you till the garden?”, to which I replied, “ I told you last night I tilled it”, and then I mentioned something about not listening. (Should have said not looking either)

So will I be sleeping on the porch swing tonight?

You should know by now, Dennis, certain conversations are only allowed one direction.

Among the assorted birds my wife has is some guineas. We see a lot less ticks with the guineas around. Not none which would be great, but a lot less.

Plus the guineas are pretty entertaining

60F and partly cloudy @ 22:00, headed down to a low of 58F overnight. Calling for rain to possibly start by 05:00.

Put out calcium-treated mealworms in front feeder. Did not get to hopper feeder or back mealworm feeder.

Removed three 5' long pieces of rebar at curves in driveway with chain and loader. Shoved fallen tree further back into woods.

Pulled up the remainder of the dead redbud tree with chain and loader and threw it on the burn pile.

Checked gear oil in front axle, hydraulic fluid, and engine oil on Kubota, topped off front axle.

Trimmed low-hanging branches on apple and hawthorn trees. Still a little more to do on hawthorn trees and an adjacent maple.

Collected up compostable items and took those up and incorporated them into the pile, and trimmed off the top of one side of the pile which had greenery growing on it to use for cover dirt. Seeing lots of worms in the composted dirt I used to cover ... (y)

Took recyclables up to the can at the road, bin at the house was full.

UPS delivered new part for Chapin spreader, part seems bent like it should be ... but wasn't packed worth a crap ... :( UPS driver said he would note the damaged packaging on his scanner.

A little too windy for spraying today so I mowed lower front instead. Broke for dinner after I got that done.

Started trimming the Japanese yews back, got enough room to plant some marigolds next to the one by the front steps.. Hedge trimmer battery could use a good charge, so I knocked off the trimming and brought the battery inside and put it on the charger.

Brought down five bucketloads of screened soil earlier in the day and put it on the area near the northeast planting bed with the large roots that I'm trying to smooth out. Got about 2 1/2 buckets worth raked out after dinner and grass seed sown over half the area and then run over with the Cub to crimp the seed in and pack the soil down.

Also brought down another bucket's worth and dumped it on the area where the trench for the water and gas line going over to the pole barn is (it's settled and there is a dip), used box blade to smooth it out.

Currently working on Chapin spreader, taking it apart to replace bent hopper frame. Hopefully they didn't damage anything by assembling it with an incorrectly bent part.

Hope everyone had a great day ... (y)
