Good morning!!!!

/ Good morning!!!! #134,161
84, heat index 92, it is sticky outside.
I mowed yesterday and had more clover than I’ve ever seen here. It’s extremely dry, worse than before the rain last week. Thunder and lightning last night, but we only got .01” of rain, not enough to put puppy tracks in the dust on my truck.
Gracie, like a lot of dogs, chases bees, mostly carpenter bees. She will catch them and eat them. Well Monday she was out front before I got the clover mowed, chasing bees. She caught one that disagreed with her. After she came in her snout started swell some, then she was making strange sounds and pawing at it. We opened her mouth and her lips and tongue were swollen. Gave her a small dose of Benadryl and it started clearing up almost immediately. She was fine by yesterday morning. Only gave her 25 mg, she could have 65mg, but I’d rather start lower and add if needed.
I hope she learns from it, but I doubt it, she takes after me.
Our little Pug has had a couple of bites over time. A while back he howled and started limping badly. I found a large spider near him. It took him a couple of days to get over it but he had a morbid fear of anything for a while. A couple of days ago he followed me into the house. He was walking fine but within a couple of minutes he was holding up his rear leg and looking a bit sick. I found a green ant on the floor beside him. He must have bought it in without realizing. They hurt me those things and a lot of folk are allergic to them. We put vinegar on his leg and it helped ease it. He was OK next morning thankfully. Such a shame they can't tell you what happened.

hope your wife gets some help Alien.

Now the internet weirdness hit around here, I could not get on TBN or WeatherUnderground but could get to other places.

That was on top of being out of power for three hours while utility fixed whatever was affecting 163 of us. Online label for the outage says
severe weather. Hmmm, not a drop here so far though I came in earlier when the thunder started.

Ran the generator for the three hours, good for it actually and uses little propane. Did fine running the a/c and well pump, I turned off the hot
water heater while the gen was running. 457cc single really is noisy and thrashy sounding.
I need to build a noise dampening shed for it; the cover I bought for it was a disaster and fell apart one too
many times. Sure have been spoiled by my previous whole house Generacs, but with a little fiddling the lights and a/c came back on.
I could hear three or four others going in the neighborhood; funny my neighbor across the street was not effected. I think that's because she's very close to
the township/police station and I bet their utility priority is high.

I need an indicator bulb on the panel telling me if the utility power is available.

Dr reacted quite positively examining Sophie’s eye, very pleased with initial results. Explained that her old lens was in worse shape than anticipated. So now followups to monitor healing.

71F and partly cloudy here @ 23:00, heading down 66F for overnight low.

High reached 83F but wasn't quite as bad as yesterday - probably due to more cloud cover throughout the day.

Rain was in the area but none fell here at the house.

At the point where the sun really came out this afternoon she took a break to visit with a friend that stopped by and I mowed the lower front.

Her friend delivered two peach trees ... which we'll now have to find a spot for and plant.

Did get the planting bed pretty much finished up, two remaining blueberry plants seem to be making a decent recovery ... one more so than the other. Got soil acidifier and peat moss put on the closest one in the picture below and worked into the soil.

Had to relocate Nest Box No. 5 a few feet further south:

IMG_1137 copy.jpg

Finished up around dusk by the time we collected everything but we did managed to get all the plants in the ground and watered:

IMG_1139 copy.jpg

A couple of "Early Girl" tomato plants, one zucchini, one yellow squash, one cucumber, one medium hot pepper, one yellow bell pepper, and a sage plant which was really supposed to go in the herb garden but she wanted to get it in the ground.

Getting very low on screened compost so will need to get to work on that in the coming days.

No trip to mower shop or Menards ... will probably do those tomorrow as it looks like we have better chances for rain.

Gonna grab a shower and then hit the rack.

Hope everyone had a great day ... (y)

There's a number of YouTube videos for quieting down a genny....here's one:

Thought about doing something like this for mine so I could leave it out...but, other than the quarterly tests, we've never had to actually use it

48° right now...a much much cooler day with highs in the mid-70's. My kind of weather!

Boy, if I don't get to mowing the backyard soon (today!!!), I'm going to need a field cutter to mow it. Like some of you guys on the East Coast, we had a substantial downpour a couple days back and the grass really grew fast!!
Weather should be good, and I hope I get out today at my scheduled time (1530). I do have to make a quick stop in Lebanon on the way home.
Figure I'll have to mow it in 2 or 3 heights before it'll be finished... Should teach my step daughter to run the damn ZTR!!!

good morning all
nice change in weather, 70 out now going up to 82, should be a nice day

Roy, glad you are feeling better.
Good news about Sophie.
Good news about Doug's wife.

since we didn't get much rain yesterday, need to water the veggies today.

Ron, great pic, hawk is using Mother Nature's hair dryer up on the ridge to dry out

69 going to 82 in clouds...storm threatened yesterday but only left us a few drops. Will be watering garden today.

Ron, great red tail..."our" pair is not nesting here this year. I know a winter storm tore up some of their nest, so maybe they moved on...occasionally see them flying and hunting here.

Alien, congrats on selling the farm. Now relax.

Mostly, the code indicates the exhaust fan is running under 400rpm. I've had to replace a smaller fan on an infrared temp sensor but hope this was just a temporary problem.

My wife cut my hair again yesterday...just don't see a reason to go back where I used to get it cut. Mowed the Coco field (unfortunately we never use it for frisbee anymore) while the storm was approaching...dense clouds and breezr had cooled things off...thought I needed to hurry but the storm passed around us.

No cicadas here so far.

It’s 68 headed to 80 today, with no rain.
Yesterday was another hot one with thunderstorms in the afternoon. Got over 1/2” of rain. Speaking of rain, the cylinder gauge is spaced off of the pole by an inch to address Mostly’s concern.

Yesterday was a busy day, started and ended with airport meetings, in between them I got three speakers cut out and dado’d. They’re all standing up as a dry fit test now, but they all need the holes for the drivers routed out. I’ll do extra baffles while I have the router setup, it’s always easier to do multiples once you are setup. When I went out for lunch, I also picked up a stereo receiver for to replace the one in my bedroom that died. Stereo receivers are not as easy to find as surround sound ones, I ended up at a high end audio store where you could easily spend 50k on an audio system. But they did have a nice $300 Yamaha receiver that fit my needs perfectly. The third meeting of the day was figuring out to make the charter business employee owned as I bow out in the future.

Today will be a much more relaxing pace, mostly making sawdust, probably meet an old friend for lunch, and then a relaxing evening.

No Cicadas here, but they are quite plentiful nearby.

It's 48F and going to be another high overcast day. Kind of a nice break from the beastly hot early summer weather.

read that shipping on a new F150 was now $1,695
New Maverick compact pick up truck looks very appealing with larger engine.
Amazing fuel economy with standard engine but would likely be too slow for me.
Ford's new plug in electric pick up should be a game changer. Instantly recognizable with that big
light bar running all the time up front. With a built in 9.8kw standby generator for your home.
Out with the noisy 3600 rpm screamer, in with the truck and a cord. Already have the house receptacle.
And no noise. My standby gen is 9.5kw on propane so same power available.

Paul, I bet you had fun in the stereo place.
You could have brought home some MacIntosh tube amps and perhaps some
big electrostatic screens, but you were good and scored a nice receiver. I bet that Yamaha has a
large number of functions though. Great company, makes so many musical things. Classic pianos.
And great outboard engines.
the simple pleasure of a good set of headphones or being in the third point of the triangle facing a pair of stereo speakers, just
doesn't have to get lots more complicated than that. Though a room equalizer usually helps.

/ Good morning!!!! #134,179
Good morning! 75˚F cloudy 90% humidity. Today might be our first 100˚F day. No rain in three days so I will be turning on the twice weekly irrigation system. Next day to water is Sunday.

Like others the grass is growing on overdrive, but with the high temp it will be a frequently interrupted job for cool down today.

Drew, the Ford Maverick looks interesting, it is probably the size that the old Rangers used to be.

New feature on TBN. While posting this message the following flashed on the screen.

Messages have been posted since you loaded this page. Read them.

I clicked "read them" and a post popped up without interrupting the post I was typing. Cool.
