Good morning! Having trouble posting pic this morning because it was a one second video. Had to do a screen shot off the I-phone. The pic is my mom's hay field yesterday. Her county got twice as much rain as we did and the fields are being cut. They will probably bale today.

I've got all the parts together for the truck, but the mosquitos were so heavy yesterday that I scrapped that plan. I'll take the parts with me and do the jobs later. I did get graphite into the locks and that was THE most important job.

I think my cat missed me, he hasn't left me alone since I came home and I was only away for 4 days. What is he going to be like after this next tour when I will be gone for 3 months?

I'm not sure what I will get up to today, but you can be guaranteed it wont be much.

66 and drizzle, going to 78 and sun. Got another 1" of rain, but yeah, BEF, Culpeper got hammered. Mostly, the flood warning was due to the amount of rain that was falling upriver of us, not what was falling here, and the scattered large downfalls predicted.

RNG, thoroughly enjoyed reading about your tank project and video...and great view from that tank. Thanks for sharing.

Don, that's a big field. Hope the hay harvest is a bumper one.

79 degrees going for 92. Yesterday’s forecast called for a 20% chance of rain today. And at 6:27 a.m. we were getting as heavy a rain as I’ve ever seen, with thunder and lightning, then at 6:31 a.m. had the loudest clap of thunder I’ve ever heard, the house lights went off and right back on, the cable TV went off, rain water was shooting out of the downspouts so strong it was shooting out past one gutter pan out back and washed away a gutter pan out front. And now at 6:55 a.m., it’s settled down to a light rain falling and I can see that my gauge already has more than 1.5” in it.

The rain stopped as abruptly as it started, so at 7:15 a.m. I waded out and dumped about 1.7" out of the gauge.

Good morning! Was a very pleasant 62 when I woke up around 6. Supposed to get to 84 or so today. May nout rain either.

Hopefully the garden is dry enough to get rid of some weeds today. If not, got a couple of ash trees down on the edge of the yard, need to clear them.

My tanks are 8ft diameter, 12 ft tall, but only 4k gal.

11' 11" in diameter, 14' tall at the manway. The documentation sez it'll hold 10,300 gallons...

Elevation at tank site = 1229
Elevation at hydrant site = 1176
Height difference = 53
Water pressure at hydrant = 23 psi

That's not much of a pressure differential, but it'll feed the draft hose on the fire truck just fine, and as long as there's power, the jet pump that feeds the garden hoses and whole house sprinklers, too.

Interesting start to my day.
Garage door won't open, not keypad or either remote works. Don't know if power is off inside garage, don't
know if there is a tripped gfi there. Thankfully my car is outside since my loaner mower was residing in the garage.
Now my friend coming to help me Sunday afternoon has a bigger challenge. First he must B&E through a thankfully unlocked window four feet up,
(no other door) and then determine if the power is on or off. Breakers in house are fine. Worst case is we'll have to reprogram the system.
If I owned this place there would be a man door installed immediately. Especially aggravating is I spent more money for the battery backup model
since I sure knew I'd need it since I'm in no shape to crawl through windows.
Since the battery clamps right onto the back of the unit, seems it ought to work regardless of wall gfi

so I told my friend to bring a step ladder since mine of course is inside the garage.

perhaps it was an alien EMP that changed my garage remote codes. Government finally admitting they are out there.

Good Morning!!!! 60F @ 6:30AM. Abundant sunshine. High 93F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph. We'll be in the hundreds by Wednesday this week, and will stay there for the rest of the 10-day. Thursday and Friday of next week will see 110F. Margarita and flip flop weather already!

Good luck fixing the garage door opener, Drew. Installing a man door seems like a very good idea, if only from a safety standpoint. In the short term, a keypad installed on the outside of the garage might be a good work around, but only if there's still power to the garage.

Thanks for sharing all the flower photos, guys. Seems like spring has sprung here, and all the blooms have dried up and blown away.

Dunno why the Youtube link was corrupted. I copy/pasted it in again, and now it seems to work fine. Maybe an iPhone vs. laptop thing?

One of the stickers on the water tank had a hyperlink to the manufacturer's website, and I was able to download installation instructions. They recommend a bellows arrangement for the discharge piping, so I'll try to get one on order this morning. If I can find a drawing of it, it'll help me figure out where the trench needs to start. And I'd really like to get started on the trench before next weeks hot weather gets here.

Daughter had a great birthday as far as gifts, but just only a few kids over for a small party. The laptop I got her is awesome. I also got her the James Avery cross necklace. She got complemented on it the first day she wore it to work by a customer.

It's sultry HOT here. 94F + 95% humidity = feels like 103F Uhggh.

Yesterday started with a much needed haircut. Went to gal at barbershop, who's done my hair for years.

I had been anticipating a trip to the junkyard. Got a later start than I wanted, but loaded most of my tools into the SUV and headed over there (about an hour trip). It was hot! I drank 5 bottles of water in the 3 hours I was there from 11 til 2. It's the kind of salvage yard where you have to take off your own parts. I was needing body parts for Crumpelt Steelskin. They didn't have a donor car the same color, but their prices were so much better than the other yards, I can afford to paint the panels myself. I scored a hood (bonnet), trunk lid, taillight assy, passenger side mirror, and all 8 pieces of chrome window bezel trim. All for $203. BARGAIN! Gm wants $35-58 for each piece of bezel trim. The place that had a slightly hail damaged trunk lid (matching color) wanted $200 just for it.

I see where Chevrolet has dropped the Impala car again, and now only has the malibu for a family sized sedan offered. Only comes in turbo engines. No naturally aspirated models that I could see. 1.5L and 2.0 L sized. All but the most expensive model have CVT transmissions. Malibu for Sale: 2021 Malibu Pricing | Chevrolet

My car research I've done recently has informed me that many of the manufacturers are going to CVT transmissions. I babied the tranny in my 2012 Altima, that got crashed. It was still working at 213,000 miles, so I can't gripe too much....but they are notorious for going out if you drive up long inclines in the heat.

It turned out the old Impala just needed some more fluid in the transmission. No more slippage. Yay! I'm embarrassed to say it needed almost 2 quarts. I don't think it leaks, it's just that I haven't checked it in so long. It's about to turn over 333,000 miles.

The little Yaris I just bought is a manual 5 speed. It's been a while since I've had a manual for a daily driver. The interior needs a deep cleaning, and some front seat covers. I hope to pick it up today, utilizing a SIL to drive back my malibu.

I hope to mow with the Beast this morning some. I wish it had a canopy, but then I couldn't get under the trees like I can now.

Kyle, I don't think I am a 'seasoned' vet, I've only been doing it for 30 years. I started with Ontario only legal 'short' B trains and now since 2014 have been hauling 'super' B trains. The difference is the bridge distance from the tractor drives to the lead trailer axles and also the distance from the 5 wheel at the rear of the first trailer to the axles on the second trailer. The supers are 10' longer than the Ontario only legal ones.

81F and partly cloudy @ 11:45, HI 85F, sun starting to peek out. Headed up to a high of 83F with a stray shower or thunderstorm possible. Only a 20% chance though.

Would be fine, we could use the rain.

Need to refill bird feeders this morning. Might be enough room to get new bag of sunflower seeds and peanuts emptied into their containers. Birdbath also due for clean out/refill.

Refill water buffalo - new grass is due to be watered, probably some hostas over around there that are due to be watered as well.

Nozzle on the one garden hose has slight leak, position it uphill from large Japanese yew that we're going to remove and attempt to transplant elsewhere to start soaking the ground.

Clean up spilled fertilizer on pallets from broken bag.

Move pallets up near wood pile, for stacking split firewood on.

While I have pallet forks on, move pallet of long PT wood out of compost/wood lot. It will probably take a couple of trips as I think it is more than the loader can lift in one go. The wood is from the old deck and is likely junk - but probably still good enough to use for concrete forms.

Grab atv/motorcycle jack from shop and bring down to house for deck cleaning and blade change.

Finish clean up/grading of soil screening area.

Finish mowing compost/wood lot.

Mow upper front.

Need to locate my good John Deere work gloves which I seem to have lost.
