Coffee is done brewing. 62° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 87° with lots of sun. Yesterday was a good conserve energy day. Got to get something done today. Need too check to do list.
Cranes like that I cut back field.

Roy, I have a problem with 10mm wrenches and sockets.

Buckeye, good concert.

Kyle, they do grow up to fast.

Mostly, yesterday was National Hot Fudge Day. No sure who made these National Days. But I participated yesterday.

Randy, when you are ready for a trip. Come up this way. I have a pad to park on with 50 amp and water. Woodward Dream Cruise is August 21.

Everyone stay safe and healthy.

Good Morning All.

good morning all
rain never came yesterday and today will be dry also and up to 92.
Off to PT and then I'm taking a small bag of my red and white potatoes over to food pantry in Lambertville
as neighbors and friends have been fed, rest to pantry. Then to supermarket and home.

Need to check on butterfly bushes, probably to confirm two have drowned. They were moved to higher ground but some don't look like
they will make it. If so, will go to garden center and see if they have more plants.

Ron, glad you have power, headlines say tens of thousands without power in Michigan due to storms.
My oldest brother's cottage is in Cedarville and next summer I hope to take a trip up there. Originally thought I'd be taking rv but last
year did in that idea. Nice rv campsite right in Cedarville. I had given my brother and his family my Scout 16 footer and weather permitting they
take it out every day on the lake.
looks like they have a nice protected area among the islands to take the small boat out in, and if one zooms in to the right, there is an ore tanker at a dolomite quarry dock.
Long drive to get to top of Michigan, sort of reminds me of driving down Florida, will we ever get there?

When you make that trip. You may find my place/area a good time to stop. 300 miles to Cedarville. Would be great to meet you.

Good morning! 72˚F heading to the upper 90s.

Ranger dash thermometer said 100˚F yesterday when we took Whipper for her evening walk. The street/sidewalks are too hot in the evening for dogs feet so we go drive down the street to the trail head. A mile and a half walk in the 100˚ heat was good enough for us, most of the trail is shaded and the trail is mulched but it still felt like an oven.

May do a mow before noon and cards later. No pressing projects are planed during the dog days of summer, just emergency projects and shortened dog walks.

72 going to 90 and big storms are forecasted this afternoon.

David/Sophie, beautiful table...cool kitchen.

Don, 100 is hot for a walk, especially if not in the shade and breeze most of the time.

BEF, glad concert was great...couldn't find the fiddle player...thought it was an Eric or Don type photo "seek" puzzle... finally saw it on a stand next to the young lady.

Thomas, that's quick work on the roof. You're making me feel guilty since ours has gotten old.

Kyle, smart work on the car...my wife celebrated National Tequila Day, too, by making a margarita. I think most of those "National Days" are just smart work by the various marketing associations. But some can be fun.

We harvested peppers, 3 kinds of squash, snaps, and flowers yesterday...many tomatoes will be ready today and rest of the week. I'll see if I can post a pic from my phone. Tomatillos are doing the best ever this year. I grilled some of the squash, and jalapeno poppers for late lunch...also hot dogs for its National Day, albeit a few days late...didn't have any big carrots to try to grill, only the little snack kind.

I'm getting an error message when trying to access TBN from my phone that the site is down. Weird.

Good Morning.
It’s 70 and going to top 90 today. Looks like no rain until tomorrow.

I really over did it over the weekend, I was exhausted when I went to bed, but slept like a rock.

Saturday morning I did a project out in the hot sun that probably didn’t help my hydration or energy level into the night.
I have a Lynx grill that is about 20 years old, but it’s extremely well built, all heavy gauge stainless, cast bronze burners, the cooking grates are 3/8” stainless rod. Basically it’s built like a tank, actually worth the seemingly ridiculous price. This one has the same piezo igniters as cheap grill would have today, the new versions use a hot surface igniter. I thought about trying to convert it to hot surface, as the Piezo don’t hold up as well as the rest of it, and I’m too cheap to buy a new one just for the igniters. So after perusing the web, and Amazon, I found a battery powered ignition unit that provides a good, hot spark to all three electrodes from a single AA battery that’s easily replaced from the front panel. It works great, how it holds up will be like a glass coffin. Remains to be seen……….

Today the plan is to empty the KubVan and move all the gear upstairs. Fortunately my shop has AC and the van is parked inside it. And the drummer is coming over to help with the heavy stuff. I rigged up a lift with an appliance dolly and a winch to get heavy stuff upstairs, but it’s much faster to carry stuff if it’s manageable.

Good morning. Lovely day here, not much wind and set to go no higher than a very pleasant 24C/75F.

Back home today after a trip to Yorkshire to see our son and girlfriend. It was good too to catch with friends too on the other side of the Pennine hills without any Covid restrictions.

how it holds up will be like a glass coffin. Remains to be seen……
That's sick Pop - but quite funny too ! :)

That is a nice area. Liked driving around the many lakes. I used to go to Brighton area when I was managing an EMD rebuild project. Had a company north of San Francisco doing it, but we had to pull the plug on them for not getting the work done, so the MI guys got to fix everything and did a great job.

Good Morning!!!! 72F @ 6:30AM. A mix of clouds and sun. High around 95F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.
It's been a while since the air was clear in the morning, but this morning it cleared out nicely. Hope it stays that way.

Very colorful harvest, Billy. Glad your phone cooperated.

There's been a slight uptick in the number of CV19 cases here, but nothing compared to the peak. Considering that only half the people have chosen to be vaccinated, it could be a whole lot worse. Glad the restrictions are lifting for you, Eric.

Nice that the quirks in older vehicles are pretty well documented on the internet now, Kyle. And the fixes, too.

Bookend cranes, Ron. Nice photo.

Thanks for the goggle link, Don.

That's some fast roofing, Thomas. Hope the rest goes as well.

Today's fire numbers are still increasing, 192,849 acres and 21% contained. Yesterday's figures included the Fly Fire in the total, but for some reason today's do not. I did hear that the total number of personnel on the fire has mushroomed to 5400, which might help to explain the confusion. More evacuations and warnings on both the eastern and western fire fronts, too. But also news of successful back burns and more dozer lines. No forecast on when containment might be complete, though.

I masked up and ran the last of the PVC to the big tank yesterday, then reset the valves at the pump house to start filling it. The well here is not very productive, to the point that the pump will empty the well casing and then over speed, at which point the pump controller shuts it off for five minutes. I just want to get enough water in it to flush the drain line, so left it to run overnight so see how much it would pump. That's job 1 this morning. If that goes well, I'll track down the neighbor and see if he'll make good his offer of enough water to fill it.

Depending on when FedEx gets here, I might be able to start stuffing wire in the flexible conduit today. We'll see.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a good start.

Morning all;
I had a memory flash back yesterday afternoon,
my wife and I went to Texas Roadhouse for supper.
There was a waiting line of 15-20 minutes so we went
back out to the truck and waited for the text message to come in.
When we came back in the greeter said to step on the yellow square and the next waitress would set us.
Marines would your mind have flashed back to boot and the yellow foot prints, mine did :ROFLMAO:

It's hot humid and hazy around here with too much rain,
sure wish we could transport it out to the western states that are in such a drought.
We can't even think about working most of our hay ground it's so wet that it'll destroy the fields.

Best wishes to all to be healthy
Lou

72° and clear skies this morning, going up to 91°. Looks like we'll be pushing close to triple digits by Wednesday and Thursday.

Got all of the grass mowed Saturday. The areas I didn't get to last week were slow going, especially the pasture. Some of the grass out there was 2' to 2-1/2' tall. Probably should have used the tractor out there. Spent four hours just in the pasture. Mowed through a small downpour in the front yard, which didn't last too long. Seven hours overall. Long, hot day of mowing.

Sunday morning we packed up to go kayaking. The boy was initially going to go with us, but backed out at the last minute. Waiting for him set us back later than we would have liked. We decided to go back up to Springfield Lake and venture south up Sugar Creek. We took the scenic route up IL-4 instead of I-55. Took us a bit longer to get there, but was a better drive through a bunch of small towns than the interstate. We launched from the nice double kayak launch dock at Glasser Bridge Park in Chatham and headed south under the bridge. We encountered several other groups through the day in kayaks and on standup paddle boards (SUPs). There's not much lake left there before we got into Sugar Creek. We were paddling upstream, but the current wasn't bad at all. If we stopped, we'd find ourselves gently floating backwards with the leaves. We had intended to go to the covered bridge and back, but after getting about halfway there we realized we had gotten too late of a start to make it all the way to the bridge, so we turned around and headed back. We'll have to get to the covered bridge next time. The float back was pleasant, mostly riding the current with only a little paddling to steer until we got back to the lake proper. We got back to the car about 5pm-ish, loaded everything up and headed home. We went back down IL-4 again, having decided on the way up there that we would stop in one of the small towns and eat dinner somewhere. We decided on a little Mexican restaurant in Carlinville IL called Sol de Mexico. Excellent food, great service, and super friendly people. We'll definitely eat there again on the next trip up there. We got back home around 8:30pm. All in all, even with the late start, it was an excellent day with The Wife.

My first concert was Styx Paradise Theater Tour in 1981, BEF. I've always been a fan of that band ... at least until that Mr. Roboto travesty. REO always got a lot of radio play here in the STL area, too. The first album I bought with my own money was their debut album. I like their earlier stuff better, as I'm not a huge fan of Kevin Cronin's style.

I got a very nice surprise from back surgeon. He asked a number of questions, and then said I should stay as far away
from surgeons as I could until the last moment. ?? No sciatica, no shooting pains, no surgery. He said I had to be much worse
to justify surgery, regardless of my awful mri showing whole spine collapsed at L5. He said that was pretty normal and hold off surgery
til the pain was too much
My what a refreshing approach!

pretty hot out, watered the veggies, now in for a quiet afternoon.

PJ, nice kayak trip. I think I’ve been to that covered bridge after leaving Springfield. Yep, visited it in 20130702, even got a picture of the lake crossing on I55.

Today we went to PA Dutch area for lunch. Drove thru 4 covered bridges and tried to chase down the steam train.

Apparently red bridges with the approach painted white is common in this area.
Several old mills also.
Meandered thru the country and now back home.

Oldest cat not doing well, trouble walking, not eating much, no energy. our vet said to take it to urgent care, so wife is taking it tonight.
