Good morning!!!!

Good morning. Lots of sun for a change today, thermometer should be getting some mild exercise with a stretch to 22C/72F by this afternoon.

The front ones are not too bad, especially as I am lucky to have a friend who has had lots of practice with much larger agricultural tires than mine. This time I took the complete wheel to a place that sold me a new tube and fitted it too, all for less than the price of buying a tube off the internet. They offer a mobile service too which would be very handy for larger tires - the older I get, the more tempting it is to pay others to do the heavy lifting.

Wng, the lake district is very nice, although some of the more popular areas will I imagine be a lot more crowded than the trails you are used to. Walkers in Wales have also been making the headlines this week - so many people are going up mount Snowden, they have to queue for quite some time to get to the summit. Queue to view

Eric, that's quite the crowd...we might love our parks to death, it seems. Shenandoah NP is currently proposing a permit system to hike Old Rag, requiring a small fee to pay for the system...it would be internet only...one where you would acquire your permit before arriving, and there would be a limited number of permits available to reduce crowds. It is the only mountain in Virginia I know of that would work that way. I've had to get permits like that to hike into the bottom of the Grand Canyon, and into limited access slot canyons in Utah.

Ditto on the heavy lifting...now that my hernia is fixed, I'd like to keep it that way.

While searching for the nozzle, I was finding better places to put the stuff worth keeping from that low shelf and stumbled across a paper bag on another mostly empty shelf. Inside was a bottle of red wine, along with a receipt from April of 2016. Right about the time of one of the Airhead's tech days where I'd invited a bunch of folks over to work on their motorcycles. Now I'm wondering of one of them hid the bottle as a sort of Easter egg I'd find later.
I thought you were gonna say you were wondering if you had bought and forgot it.

I had a front tractor tire knocked off the rim and couldn't reseat it...using the FEL, got it off and took it to a local truck stop along Interstate 95...they put it on their machine and got it fixed in 5 minutes for free...so I tipped them nicely. A rear tire would have been a different story.

Just to add one note...when I arrived at the top of Old Rag, there was no one else there...while I ate a snack and enjoyed the view, several other friendly hikers arrived...I moved to let 2 people have my spot, which was the apex. Hikers on the trail are generally very friendly, helpful and sharing. We swapped stories for 15 minutes. I saw absolutely no litter anywhere.

Good Morning.
It’s 63 and won’t make it to 70 today. Chance of rain, but looks like a nice day.

Yesterday went well. Got UV filter and a cartridge type whole house filter ahead of it installed in my friends house. Got back and finished the isolation cabinet.

It exceeded my expectations, the guitarist can play as loud as they feel they need to to get the sound they want and it won’t be heard in the room, bleeding into other microphones.

Some friends stopped by to see the alpacas, so my wife gave them the nickel tour. Later I continued the never ending shop cleanup and organization.
Walking over to the house, saw the usual herds of deer having their evening snack.

Today is another day of doing whatever pops up, there is no planned activities.

Back when BMW first came out with the K-bikes, they created huge divisions in the BMW motorcycle community as people jumped on what was supposed to be the next greatest thing. Not long after that, the Airheads club formed to give the old timers a place to gather. And every once in a while, some new folks step up to serving on the board, and get concerned about finances and start talking about dues increases and allowing a broader variety of folks as members. Long time members quit, tempers flare, and the budget gets tighter than ever. Then the old timers reclaim the board, put things back the way they started out, and membership numbers recover. Looks like we're starting a new cycle now. People who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
You do know I was just joshing about the urals....all 2 of them. Hahaha OTOH, their owners might just be as eclectic as anyone you'd meet. :)
When I went "window shopping" one day in 1990 at BMW Motorrad in St. Louis, they had a new '90 K100LT and an '89 R100RT that had about 10k miles on it. Salesman - also named Paul - told me the guy who owned it used to ride to Columbia MO to see his kid at Mizzou. He came back in after a year and traded it for a K100LT. So, I took both for a test ride. Not gonna lie; that K100LT was a sweet ride. However, the R100RT blew it away in balance. The lower center of gravity of the boxer engine made a huge difference in how it handled. I picked up the R100RT the next day. Wife dropped me off on the way to work, and I rode it to work. I put 75k miles on that thing over the next two years. Rode the dickens out of it.
Always wondered what "the dickens" inferred???
Good evening all. 73F for the start, partly cloudy, light breeze. Light wind day, afternoon buildups not heavy, and high temp was 94F, HI 103F and DP 68F. Did not do much today, spent day with wife, 44 anniversary today.
Happy belated anniversary to you and the wifey. I hope the Chinese was good, and didn't give too much kung pow later on....and thank you for the prayers, my elbow/shoulder are doing much better.
Picture's a little fuzzy, Doug, but looks like a Phonic PowerPod 740 powered mixer.

Funny story about those. When I worked for St. Louis Music, one of our brands was Crate. We made a bunch of different PA equipment under that brand, including several box mixers (I still have a couple somewhere in storage). Towards the end of times there, we started having a few different Chinese companies making some of the smaller stuff, including the powered (box) mixers. One company that made a bunch of stuff for us was Phonic. I once walked into a (long defunct US chain) Mars Music store in St Louis County and saw a display on a shelf with three "different" box mixers; one said Crate, one said Phonic, and one said Yamaha. They were all exactly the same mixer, differing only by the color of the powder coat on the chassis and the graphics on the front. They were all three made by Phonic, and sold under different names.

Not a bad mixer, as I recall.
PJ, I'm in the market for a mixer (for the church youth group), and I see these same boxes all over. They may be decent, as they seem to last a long while. Yamaha is pretty much sold out of everything stateside. Low on music equipment, instruments, motorcycles, and outboards. Hope they make it through this epidemic.

I heard there are 50 or more container ships floating offshore California, due to not enough: longshoremen, truck drivers, available rail.

My good friend that got off the ventilator is recuperating, but he is getting blood transfusions due to low hemoglobin. His wife is able to stay with him. I have never given blood, but I feel that's the least I could do to help. Will look into it Tuesday.

I got some mowing done Friday morning, worked on BIL's car yesterday morning. Too hot to be outside IMO during the afternoon.

Nice pics all, Thanks Ron, Billy et al.

Eric, sorry about your old bike going away. I had a Dawes, English made bike for years, that was about an 1" too tall for me. Gave it back to it's original owner after about 30 years of having it. It needed a full reconditioning.

I still have more to catch up on.

69°F and .59 inches rain.

Hoping for another great day with the flail attacking the Hilo(south) end of the property if weather cooperates. If not, then back to electrical.

Prayers for all
Be
Safe
Have a great day

Dennis looking better, is Ethernet cable working now?
.
Cable to projector still not working. Script to switch the projector didn’t work, so more troubleshooting required. Another issue with stream deck, one key that was working quit working.

Worship went well and streaming went well anyways.

Dennis, I had to chuckle. Way back in the day, long before computers, I was the a/v "tech" in high school and got to run
the movie projector. Keeping in mind our entire grade was only 53 kids. Had to thread the tape and the whole thing, learn how to splice broken tape.
Wow did that seem simple compared to today...of course it did about one hundredth of what electronics do today.
My yearbook senior picture was running the projector, nice pic by someone else, one of the few since I was the yearbook photographer also, and took
just about every pic in the book. But I couldn't take my own...not that smart.
I think the projector was a Bell & Howell.

glad worship worked out nicely, here too, no feedback squeals this week since we worked on the mikes, and the usual lecture about please mute your
mikes and stop banging pots in the background. Some folks on zoom just forget they are live.

Yea, we don’t use zoom. . We use MS teams for work meetings, I keep forgetting to unmute my mike.

I remember the cassette tape that went with the projector, BEEP and you changed to the next image.

The stuff not working is new stuff I’m adding in.
Just woke from a 2 hr nap. Couldn’t sleep last night, body was aching from all the work yesterday.

So I set up a new 2nd monitor this morning at church, and it went into a setup menu in some foreign language, and I can’t figure out how the menu works. I downloaded the manual but nothing looks the same. Dell monitor, has this little joystick to maneuver the menu system which is a pain.

Weather not being cooperative. 1140 and raining so even if it stopped it wouldn’t dry out enough no matter how sunny.
So, slowing wiring outlets in the caretaker unit.

Yes, RNG, she has seen the progress since 1st visit. A bit of background. She is a disabled Army Vet, in some sort of VA program. Don’t have a lot of details and this day and age unsure what I can even ask directly. She came highly recommended by my neighbor, having picked coffee for him last year. Her current housing situation is changing this fall, hence the attractiveness of my offer. She goes back to DC for VA so flexibility is a factor. Fortunately her Mom works for the airlines so she gets flight benefits. Have to say, I’m impressed with her work ethic so far. Today she sent a text saying she’d like to learn/help do some of the studio construction stuff. Have to think about that as I pretty much plan my work as a solo performer except Sophie lending a hand when needed. We have also discussed she may take advantage of our space and do some ag stuff on her own based on some university ag courses. She’s doubtful of being able to return to what we might consider full time regular appointment other than supplementing her VA. She and Sophie get along quite well and she is an animal person, even being corrective with my sometimes rambunctious pup.

Morning all, been a busy weekend, got tree all cut up using 20" bar.
Split some rounds, many to go.
Pool almost fully cleaned. Bought a pump 2 years ago during last flood event. Works good but slow going. About 7 hours to get 90% of the dirt and debris out.
Got AC for apartment fixed. 2 bad connectors, replaced and fan started, compressor going, all good. Looks like when they installed it they used cheap spade connectors.
Sons birthday tomorrow-he is going to Princeton today to meet up with some friends

Mostly - happy anniversary and many more
Gumbo and Jambalaya are only way I eat Okra
Corn husked and wrapped in tin foil on the grill for 10-15 minutes, upper shelf on the grill for us.
Pennwalk- I have the M18 trimmer and pole saw. I like both but they max out at 1 hour or less with the 8AH XC battery.
Welcome to GM Willy
Eric-still miss my Old Peugeot and my old Fuji race bikes. Peugeot was stolen and Fuji rusted under my fathers care. I still have 5 bikes.
Sodamo- possible tenant sounds good, hope it all works out for you and her

stay safe and be well

20" bar makes a big difference, but still need more power. This is typical size for the last 7 Ash we took down.

Last nights music event.

We had a good time. Band really did do a good job of being a tribute band. Did the show in 2 segments, Bon Scott era, the Brian Johnson era. Big crowd for the local area.

The drummer which I have known for a long time came up to say hello on break. My wife was shocked he found time to say hello.

Maybe be an odd connection, friend of mine from Indy knew Bon Scott. He assures me the stories are true.

Been a lazy day. Weather has been nice. Some rain over night.

Worked on the race bike some today. It May run sooner rather than later…

EveRhône stay safe out there

/ Good morning!!!! #138,114
Fairly lazy day here as well.

Got Menards order placed and it is ready for pick up ... then promptly discovered another item I had forgotten to order (glass block mortar ...)

Took Chapin spreader and core aerator around back to hose off, will do tomorrow.

Started constructing path through the woods for The Woman over to her friend's house. Got that about half done up to the creek ... but it wasn't like there was all the much to do ... drop landscape rake and go ... ;)

Refueled Kubota.

Used grapple to tear out upper landscape timber retaining wall and took that up to the burn pile.

Then I took grapple off and stored it in the pole barn, put light material bucket back on.

Finished adding screened compost to hosta bed behind shop. It needs mulched ... but I won't do that until I've pressure washed the back wall. Hostas there are really taking off ... (y)

Need to mix up gallon or so of Trimec tomorrow in the hand pump sprayer and spray the lawn next to that planting bed behind the shop to see if I can keep the Creeping Charlie and other nasties at bay.

Was 70F and fair @ 20:30, high hit 78F today. Showers early and then a nice warm up and breeze out of the northwest. Heading down to a low of 57F. Based on surrounding stations, it looks like we might have gotten 0.25" to 0.50" of rain overnight ...

24 Hour average soil temp is down to 70.2F.

Ten Day looking good, highs in the upper 70's/low 80's and only one day with a chance of rain over 50% ... (y)

Headed down to feed the fish and downstairs cat here in a few.

Hope everyone had a great day.

Good evening all. 74F for the start, light breeze, mostly clear sky. Sky clouded up, win light to moderate, and high temp was 87F HI 94F and DP 71F. Front came through, no rain, lower humidity starting tomorrow. Low humidity forecast to last a week. Chapel to start the day, then made wife's breakfast, then conserved energy for rear of day. No nap :(
Covid update: Cooke 3693 confirmed cases, 78 active cases, Montague 2183 confirmed cases, 86 active cases, Grayson, 13482 confirmed cases, 351 active cases. Cooke 0, Montague 0, Grayson 0, new cases.

Eric nice temp, quite the line to go up the mountain.
Roy 90 # is a lot to wrestle with. thanks for Margeaux update.
RNG I have to find glue as good as Park Tool glue. Never had issues with glued patches, the one that failed was a glueless patch, never had good luck with them , folded or not. Interesting Easter Egg :)
Billy nice story, bet they liked the tip. glad no litter on top of mountain!
Paul glad you got filtration and isolation done. And the isolation works. Nice herd pics
Kyle no Kung pow later on. Glad to hear body damage recovering.

good morning all and happy labor day.
looks to be a nice day, sunny and up to low 80's.
I might be back grouting flagstone today at church if the other guys show up.
this time I'm wearing heavy blue jeans; two hours on my bare knees last time left for sore knees.
That plus a sweat band and I'm good to go.

Ken, was thinking about those huge log rounds you are working on, hope your back is ok.
Did I see a grapple on your Massey?

Waiting for first cup of coffee to cool. 57° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 76° with lots of sunshine. Grass got mowed yesterday. Off to Menards to pick up some lumber for installing door I made a couple weeks ago. Not sure I will get started on that project today.
Hummingbirds are at feeder almost all the time. Must be getting ready to head south.

David, I like it when projects start coming together.

Rich, good tribute band picture.

Ken, that a lot of wood to cut and move.

Popgadget, looks like the whole herd is visiting you.

Wngsprd, good you got your trial hike in.

Everyone stay safe healthy.

Good Morning All.

58° right now...high in the low 70's and maybe some storms...

Neighbor's son came over and put those forks on the frame. I was out back with Margeaux...didn't even know he was here. I owe that boy a beer!!
Couple hours, I'm going to remove the pallet forks and get the bucket back on the loader.
No real plans today...just take it as it comes, I reckon

Enjoy your Labor Day, Team!!

73 and rain...gonna get sunny and up to 85.

Ken, that's quite the big tree. Lots of hard work there.

Ron, my wife and I noticed fewer hummingbirds yesterday, so think many of the males have left. I used your technique on corn last night on the grill...it was perfect! I also grilled some zucchini and 3 types of heirloom okra.

Did some pole saw work (Don, it was cedar amputation, not cedarcide) and ran my battery dead on the string trimmer after a few hours.

Enjoy your day!
