Good morning!!!!

4°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 25° today. They keep revising down the high for the day. We're forecast to be in the 40s all of next week with lots of sunshine. That will probably take care of most of our snow.

Made a trip to the grocery store this morning for The Wife. Only picked up a short list of things, and still spent $70+. Ouch. I noted it was the first time since Tuesday evening that I've been in my car. I don't hate that. Hoping I won't have to be in it again until Monday morning. I've always been a homebody. I like it here under my rock.

Sorry about your kitty, Rich. Glad you got to enjoy time with her, though. Cats really are wonderful companions.

Neat stories and pictures of families.

Not sure what I will get into today. But have to do something that I am sad about. Have an appointment to take Callie to the vets for the final time. She has cancer and her quality of life is not good. She has been an awesome little cat. Going to miss her waking us up in the morning.
Rest in Peace, Callie.
She will be waiting at the rainbow bridge for you, Rich.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. Her eager body quivers. Suddenly she begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, her legs carrying her faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

20F and sunny @ 16:00, heading down to 13F for the overnight low.

Hopper and two sunflower tube feeders refilled. Broke a perch off each one of the sunflower tube feeders at the door as I was bringing them into the house to refill, so had to replace those. Fortunately still have some. The original is getting pretty long in the tooth, probably will have to replace that one this year.

Also tromped back to the deer feeder and refilled it.

Hundreds of Starlings out there right now along with the usual suspects.

Plow guy came by earlier and plowed us out.

I did manage to get the van started yesterday (after about five tries  ) and made it up the driveway to the road, but Woman felt snow was too deep for her car so we went ahead and had it plowed.

Hopefully that will be the last time but I'm not betting on it.

May see about getting the Aprilaire whole house humidifier working a little later.

Hope everyone is having a great day ... (y)

Sorry for your kitty!
7F clearing sly mid teems for high....14" snow total.

Outside chores done E muffin time.
Plans for today...final snow clean up of driveway walks path all roofs and that should be enough for today.

Enjoy your day all.
Glad you got snow. We had sleet and freezing rain before a quick freeze and an inch of snow. I got the snow cleaned up but the ice will stay till at least Tuesday as we are staying below freezing till then.
Nothing going on here. I don't have a problem with that either.
I did swap out an electrical socket and replace a faucet washer though. Typical 30 year old house stuff.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

Well it's sure not morning,
but I finally got done scrapping the frozen mess on the driveway.
Took about 3 passes with the blades to get most of the frozen sleet and rain scraped off.
About 4 hours work on a 1/4 mile. Glad I had the chains on all 4 needed them a couple of times.

any of your Northerners ever try one of these chain alternatives? Strap on studs should help. Probably would have to go pretty slow
with these on, but as long as you are going...

Lou, you are our chain expert. Think they would work?
I want the ones that install with a push of the dash button.

visions of an Outback or Audi or others with really good full time awd, and then add a set of these.
As long as you had ground clearance, very secure feeling.
We had studded snow tires here in the 50's and 60's; they were outlawed at some point.

local roads a wreck after last rain. Potholes everywhere, driving at night hazardous to your rims.
During day folks swerving all over the place. At least if you see it you know why.
All these low profile tires common today, must make for job security for rim shops.
Simply love the 60 series tires on my truck. Wish they were 65s...more sidewall the better.
45 series on car are borne to blow.

I have looked at them and most of the reviews that I read weren't impressed with there life.
Quite awhile back I tried some strapon emergency chains, they were similar to those items and they
would get a person moving many times to get in a driveway or something similar.

What I would like for my pickup is a set of auto chains as are used by many Ambulances, Fire Trucks and School busses.

Then they have these;

And these; I've almost pulled the trigger on these,

Deer appeared - in force - around about dusk:

I counted 9 total at one point.

Will have to refill their feeder tomorrow I'm sure (seems like it's always empty the next morning)

They don't appear to be starving but probably could stand to be putting out a little more corn than I have been (around 1 1/2 gallons)

At this rate likely will need to make another trip to Menards this coming week.

Kinda funny if you think about it: we pay during the winter to keep them alive ... so they can come around in the summer and eat the hosta and other stuff ...

But like the birds we do enjoy having them around ... ;)

21° didn’t get started working outside till mid afternoon. Not sure if I’m cleaning out the shed, or just shuffling the junk around.
I did get a couple trash bags full, lagged some sides to a pallet and put all my rolls of wire on it. Got more firewood in the tote, which is now full. Still got a bunch of junk wood to burn.

Barn door wouldn’t close when I was done. Turns out the cable had jumped off the spool and was wrapped around the pipe. Took me awhile to fix, had to Jack up the door to relieve enough tension to get the cable wrapped right.

Then ran up to church building to take care of stuff, then brought home Chinese food for supper. And my wife made homemade soft pretzels which was my lunch.

Tonight’s state is Florida.
Who from the US hasn’t been there?
First went in HS for our Sr class trip. Went to Disney, Busch garden, Daytona beach. My Great aunt and uncle lived in Daytona then, they gave me a tour of the speedway and ponce inlet light house.
On one trip was in Orlando and saw a space shuttle go up.
I went there a few times for work also, and we took the kids to Disney in 2005. Don’t ever go at spring break.
We stayed at one of the disney hotels, where this pic of the boys was taken

Went to a bush race at the Daytona speedway when I lived in Orlando.

We were tailgating across the street behind the 711. Kept hearing engines rev then click click click click in fast succession.

I walked over and popped my head over the privacy fence. They had a go-cart drag strip set up at the arcade

Well needless to say, our drunk butts had to go into the arcade and run the track before the race

They were running propane powered 350's in those go-carts. The click click click we were hearing was the braking system set up on the end of the track.

Those babies were fast

Have a safe trip mostly.

Dads power still out, but his wood stove is going. One of the guys who hunts there was there today, he said power lines are down up the road from dad’s. At least the road was open

Well I did something stupid tonight. I went to cover a plant in the backyard that I uncovered today and I forgot about the ice still on the patio.
I fell and my new knee was stretch to beyond Egore pain but in a sideways direction. My yell alerted Whipper who alerted my wife that something outside was not right and my wife calmly helped me back into the house. I'm Icing the knee now still shaking. I hope it does not swell up too bad and I didn't mess anything up . . . arrrg.
