Good morning, low temp low 12 high to 23°F. Wind S 19 gusting to 24 mph. Snow.
By the time it is all over tomorrow afternoon we should be getting about 15". YIPPEE!

Today I will put the battery charger on the Jeep and see if I can get that working again, and fix the fuel gauge on the Kioti. The parts are here.

Sorry to hear you got careless Don. Hopefully nothing buggered up. A little/lot of pain will/should teach you a lesson about carelessness.

Have a safe day all

18 and sky full of stars, going to 40.

Coyotes and owls have sure been singing proudly last several nights. Watched two raccoons run off a possum at the bird feeder area this morning. Skunks haven't been seen except on trail cams for 3 nights. But we've seen them often enough to distinguish each of them, and of course, name them. But that doesn't give them a free pass.

Rich, sorry about your cat.

Buppies, nice list of dogs. I never knew you had a Chesapeake. We are thinking about getting another. If I ever get another cat, I want it to be like the one on the Chevrolet truck commercial.

Don, hope your knee is okay today.

Split wood yesterday and sharpened a chain for use today. Need to move another pallet from the splitter now that the ground is frozen.

Good morning!

Got the new rear tire put on the BX25 in the freezing cold. (-4°F). I had to leave it out overnight, and sure enough, it wouldn’t start. Hoped it was just the battery, so I drove back to our cottage (500 yds. away) and got a booster battery and cables. Started right up! What was strange was when I drove the tractor back to cottage and checked the battery, it was up to 13.89 volts! I will let it sit for the weekend, and then check it again Monday. (It is the OEM battery that the tractor came with back in the Fall of 2009.)

Meanwhile, I have to buy a new rear wheel. I wonder how long it will take to come?

Sorry about your knee, Don. Take it easy, and hopefully you didn’t cause any serious damage.

Good Morning.
It’s 10 degrees and clear with a high of 30.
Yesterday was close to the same, so not much ice melting.
I’ve got a glacier at the end of my lane where it meets the road. It’s a down hill slide into the state road if you are not extremely careful.

Yesterday started with a visit from a neighbor that has a vineyard. He bought an expensive looking stainless steel transfer pump for filling wine bottles, and his SIL ordered a 3 phase unit because the single phase ones were out of stock. He wanted me to confirm that he was out of luck without a phase converter, which was road he wanted to avoid. Lucky for him, the pump was driven by a VFD, used for a speed control, and after some research, I determined it would have enough output capacity with a single phase input. A quick rewire, and it fired right up on my single phase 240.

Next up was to add an LED light in the shop controlled by the lift master door opener. They just plug in to 120v and connect wirelessly to the opener. Now I have them in the big shop area with the overhead doors as well as in the adjoining machine shop that I normally use for egress.

Next stop was lunch, followed by another friend coming by to borrow some electrical test tools and a little discussion about theory and the conventions used in residential wiring. He was trying to sort out some 3 and 4 way light switches in his 70 year old house. Later I got a report that he was successful. That pretty much killed the day.

Not sure what’s on tap for today, but I would like to spend some time in the hangar.

Don, I hope that your knee is OK, falling on ice is bad enough when you are not already healing.

We have always had at least one dog, 5 Newfoundlands over the years, and the present big dog is a Landseer ECT, which while similar to a Newfie, is quite different. When my mom passed at 96, we inherited her Norwich Terrier, which at 17 is still like the energizer bunny. When my daughter lived at home, we had her Havanese in the mix as well. For all the comfort and joy that a dog brings, in the back of your mind, you always know that the day will come when they pass on before you. I’m sure the same is true of cats, but we have never really had any inside cats, except for the occasional spoiled barn cat.

4°F now high in the mid 20’s and sunny today. Winds NW around 5 mph.

Yesterday’s clean up went ok for what we got. Started with rain then sleet and freezing rain and ended with snow. About 0.25” ice under 2” of sleet pellets and 1” of snow. I’m glad the front plow on my BX has down pressure and can be locked from tripping. Got the driveway done and my truck cleaned off, I’ll take care of the wife’s car this morning.
Dump run today and fill diesel can and take the rest of the day as it comes.

Rich - sorry about your kitty they leave an empty spot in our lives hopefully to be filled when the time is right.

Mostly - I hope things go well it’s a tough time.

Don - Ouch, I hope no real damage done. In my area of NH this time of year almost always requires yak/trax or some other traction device on your feet.

Check - I don’t know what battery brand Kubota uses but my BX24 mfg. in ’05 still has the original in it. Now that I said that it probably won’t start today!

Stay safe and healthy
Enjoy your day everyone

Good morning! 18˚F cloudless sky, West wind shifting to a South will take the afternoon temps to 43˚F like Bird's.
I do miss the warm spot in front of the Wood Burning Stove but do not miss the middle of the night log adding or trying to get the kindling wood going in the morning if I was too tired to throw that extra big log on. I have found an acceptable alternative that I'm using this morning behind me, a plug heater - don't laugh too much - it is a good little source of heat to make that your work/sitting area cozy without getting too hot, and it's very quiet.
As seen on TV: Ca-ching

I use a Lesko, keeps office toasty but Ellen stay cool in her office.

Good morning. 11 now, supposed to get to 37 or so today. Some of the roads are a mess and need the above freezing temperatures. And the bright Sun we are currently enjoying.

There are warnings to stay off Lake Erie ice. Warming temps and SW winds are going to cause the ice to break up. Have to see how many rescues the CG has to do. Because I “just know” people won’t listen.

My wife took yesterday pretty hard. Callie, until she started having trouble getting around, slept on my wife’s pillow at night. And was the alarm cat. Like an alarm clock during the week, she would start howling at 4:28 AM. My wife’s alarm is set for 4:30! I took my wife to dinner last night, we ended up talking about some of the cats we have had over the years. There have been some real characters. Think it did both of us some good. The other 2 keep looking for her. Thanks for all of the comments.

Did manage to do some stuff in the garage yesterday afternoon. The ultra-sonic cleaner got another work out. I am constantly finding things that need cleaned. Probably more of the same today.

Seems they got more icing south of here BEF. Lots of reports of power outages south of here. Hopefully your dad has a good supply of wood.

Since we were moving around yesterday, was interesting to see which roads got attention and which ones didn’t. Our easiest access to go to town is mostly a mess. Fortunately there is a slightly longer route we took coming home that is vastly better. Probably go that way when we go for groceries today.

Everyone stay safe out there!

Morning all, 14 and sunny.
Need to give the dog a bath-she stinks :)

Don - I hope the knee if better today. I have been putting the non-salt and sand mix out to stop myself from sliding too much when the dog decides to run after a deer or leaf.

Rich - sorry about the cat, they really grow into the family.

Stay safe and be well.

Good morning to all! Low of 10°, supposed to get up to around 38°. Snow is melting....slowly, but still melting.

Don, sorry to hear about the fall. My Doc told me it would be nearly impossible to damage the hardware, but the surrounding soft tissue / tendons and muscles are susceptible to injury. He feels the root of my swelling/ pain issues are from having 3 surgeries within a couple years causing irritation and, of course, scar tissue from surgery. I hope you didn't piss it off too bad!

BEF--- soft pretzels look good. It's been a couple of years since we / wifey has made some. Philly soft pretzels were a 'staple' when I was growing up and into early adulthood. I could wager that not one week went by without having a couple..... and I'm talking the original street vendor ones.

Rich, hang in there. Talking w/ the wifey was a great way to start the healing process.

Mostly, take care. My condolences again....

Ran some errands yesterday, not much more accomplished. I did make breakfast for dinner..... Sausage, egg, has browns, cheddar cheese, onion, avocado....stuffed into tortillas. They were good.

Tonights menu: grilled pork loin, shoepeg white corn, and my favorite--- homemade pierogies.

Still can't figure out the power issue going to the shop.... I think I will just run a new feed. I have a coil of 6/3 UF wire to use. I just don't know if it is long enough. Need to let the snow melt off to uncoil it. Hopefully it will work. That stuff is really expensive.
Supposed to get warmer by the end of the week, up near 50°. Might wait a few more days.

Everyone have a great day!
