Last time I tried starting fluid, it didn’t work, the formulation was changed so it burned slower. The air tank always works.

You gotta buy the cheap stuff, not the name brand…

Hoping not to be contentious, just curious, but

I don’t understand the massive push from ICE to EV. We have had hybrids for a spell. Wouldn’t a sensible approach be to further refine hybrids? Might it be possible to further the technology that a hybrid could almost be self sustaining, maybe 90% or better generating own electric via known technologies like PV, braking, generator, etc? A vehicle that needs next to no external electric source like our currently inadequate grid. We need fossil fuels/petroleum for a great number of other uses, so it is not going away any time soon. I know I’d be open to exploring such an option.
Unfortunately, the discussion of the ICE TO EV has too many political components (legislation banning ICE is politics) to have a complete discussion. And I am sure even mentioning the control of Freedom of Movement puts my post here at risk of relocation/ removal…

Good morning, 54 going to 76 today. The rain yesterday was great. Lots of greening of the grass going on again.

Mostly, glad to see you back.

Oil will run out one day so transitioning to alternatives is a process that will go on for next many years. Some countries are more dedicated to this than others. We wasted fossil fuels for many years without a plan for the future. Remember flying into Saudi Arabia in the 70's with the East cost being lit up at night like daylight from the flare off from the oil wells.

The “No Nukes” movement screwed us big-time.

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly…).

50F, going to mid-70s, sunny day forecasted. The genny and pump will need to be run again today to water the plants.

Calling up Home Depot and confirming delivery of the rest of our scaffold parts - it will be nice to get that resolved, only a month later…

otherwise more Harry training (we try to do a session or two a day, he is getting “paw” consistently now) and working on the rototiller. I also still haven’t opened up the hives yet, today may be a good day for that..,

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe productive blessed day!

54 clear and crisp, going to 82. Nice.

Looks like a bear came by to visit our birdfeeders last night. I'm glad I bring in about half of them every night.

We hear a lot about EVs here, and I think electric vehicles, like tools, make a lot of sense. I gladly used my battery hedge trimmers yesterday, and my thumbs are thanking me for not using the old manual shears. I just hope the technology improves for vehicles...the raw materials used to make one EV battery can be used to produce 90 hybrids. The carbon reduction of those 90 hybrids is 37 times greater than that of the EV over their lifetime.

Mining and processing cobalt, lithium and nickel is a very dirty and unstable business, so getting better carbon reduction from hybrids while using less lithium, etc makes sense until the technology improves, and the grid grows stronger.

But even hybrid technology need improvement...when I looked at the new trucks while getting mine inspected a few weeks ago, I saw the hybrid version only got 1 mpg better than the twin turbo V6.

No puppy logistics in the way I did not prepare properly Sunday ie cash and could not withdraw enough sometime this week I hope. Had to pay 2290s for trucks yesterday wife got very upset and said some mean things but I had warned them and the agents took in stride. This is going to be a long ride

Will get with breeder to set up new pickup time today maybe this Saturday

Glad back safe and sound mostly are you getting perm too (said in jest)

Terrible about bridge long time to fix even with money no object insurance more than likely holding the bag Drew?

Be interesting to see where this goes “ Germans are working on 100 percent synthetic diesel fuel” for vehicles trucks etc.

52° in southern Ohio.
Good visit with oldest brother. 10 yrs older than me. Just him and his 2 cats. His son lives in MI somewhere south of Ron.
He’s had 3 surgeries in last couple years since his wife passed away, and is still recovering. Some slow healing, but looks good. He took us to local Mexican place last night. I was still full from a late lunch at a good burger place in KY.
Heading home today. Got .25” rain at home.

Welcome back Mostly. Looks like a fun trip.

Good Morning!!!! 63F @ 4:45AM. Sunny. High 88F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
Picked up another 0.05" of rain from thundershowers yesterday evening.

Got the cylinder and piston boxed up for shipping yesterday. Holy mackerel, UPS got over thirty-five bux to ship it, and that was with what they called a discount.

All of our sources of energy are finite, so as long as the population continues to increase, energy shortages are inevitable. Plan accordingly.

Netflix streaming continues to disappoint due to buffering. Not sure I like the brave new world of on demand streaming, as the infrastructure hasn't matured to the point where network capacity can keep up with demand. Yes, Starlink, I mean you.

The roof was wet when the roofers showed up yesterday, but it was dry enough for them to get started on the ridge cap. They got almost all of it done, along with most of the other roof penetrations. Foreman said they'd be back to finish up today. All that remains after that is a coat of paint on the chimney chase and replacing the sprinkler system tubing up on the gutters and gables.

Thanks for letting me know the 5 gallon bead seater works OK, Paul. HF has one for almost twice the price, but is in stock and I'm not sure I can wait. I need groceries, so hope to get into town to pick one up today.

Got a text from the Nevada salesperson saying that someone had "reserved" the damaged van I've been waiting for. That was quite a surprise, as I was told it was unavailable until the body shop was done with it. Just as well, I suppose, as the last thing I need is more vehicle problems from slip shod repairs.

Morning all, 58 going up to 79 and the sun is up.
Son had friends over last night, so no sleep.
I am sure they will be making more noise again when they wake up.

Got a little less than 1.5" of rain, that will save me hours of watering and was so needed.

back to the day job,

Good Morning.
60 with a high of 75 for today, rain is gone, sun is out.
Total rain for yesterday was 1.35” spread over a long period, so most got absorbed into the very dry ground.
Things should start to green up a bit, I’ll likely have to do some mowing this week.

Yesterday went to Primeweld in NJ with a friend that bought a fixture table and a plasma cutter. Really nice people to deal with, and gave him a good discount for picking the stuff up, as they offer free shipping.
We saw a tractor trailer merge into the lane to the left of it already occupied by a Honda SUV, the Honda went into the shoulder, hit the guard rail and came across all three lanes as it spun around and went up on two wheels, but it stayed up right and stopped facing oncoming traffic. We were able to avoid it, as did everyone else. The truck never stopped, I don’t think it ever made contact with the SUV. We did catch up with it and was able to get a picture of the license plate and operator info, which we shared with LE.

Got home home in time for a late lunch, took care of some chores, thought about washing the car and tractor but the rain got in the way. So it turned into an energy conservation afternoon, made reservations for training in Orlando next week, for hotel and car, the training centers are booked almost a year in advance, which can make things interesting.

Today is off to Portland, ME where it’s overcast and raining, hope to be back early afternoon to try and be productive today.

Good morning! Low of 50°, heading towards 75°. Sunny, but breezy with gusts to 30 mph. Back to no chances of rain in the 10 day forecast.

Good winter precip took us out of the 'extreme' drought category into just a 'regular' drought scenario.....
I bet that won't last for long.....

Agenda for today: repeat of yesterday... try and get some more landscape fabric and mulch down. Might only have a small window of opportunity.

Daughter is still home, no long periods of contractions happening, so just a waiting game for now....

Everyone have a great day!

Ted, fingers crossed for an easy and happy delivery.

finished mowing the lawn, was nice to do it without dust in the air. Very pretty out after the rain and a mostly blue sky.
pacing myself before going out and firing up the foam gun

nice breakfast with new school board member. behaved myself and did not get eggs benedict and got a heart healthy
omelette instead.
it wasn't very good.
they have pork roll eggs benedict.
truly something to die for, or from...

A cool 60F, overcast, and moist @ 11:00, calling for a high of 64F today. Also showers and possibly thunderstorms developing this afternoon and continuing into the night.

Woman is chomping at the bit to get back outside and get to work.

Don't think that will be happening today though.

Got garbage taken up to the road last evening and mealworms put out for the bluebirds.

Also dropped off the second set of blades I took off Kubota MMM up at the shop for sharpening and gathered up a couple of exhaust adapters that I will be returning while I was up there and brought those down to the house.

Second set of blades I took off do not look near as bad as the first.

Agenda for the rest of the day:

Dole out meds for this week.

Clean sawdust and debris out of boots.

Schedule some bills for online payment.

Get the two new flowers planted in pots.

Locate a funnel and get the stink juice strained and bottled up.

Start return process on exhaust adapters and get the paperwork printed out for that.

Refill hopper feeder, possibly tube feeders as well. Also mealworm feeder probably.

Sharpen mower blades.

Plus whatever else comes up.

Hope everyone is having a good Tuesday ... (y)

have you noticed how much cheaper eggs have been in the supermarket?
for you folks who raise chickens
USDA has a monthly analysis
if I'm reading this right...the wholesale average cost of a dozen large eggs is back to about 1.20
which is why they are charging 2.39 in store.
Regular eggs got so expensive for a while the "gourmet" eggs were now competitive.

I wish egg boxes had to list the date the eggs were laid.
Probably would explain why fresh eggs taste different and better usually .

67°F and .13 inches rain.

Good progress painting yesterday. Should get that area finished up today. End of the high scaffold in sight.

Nice happy hour gathering. We got there 10 minutes early and able to order burrito bowl off the lunch menu, very tasty.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
