Good morning! 78˚ heading to 100˚ again as it has been all week.
We have a new member to our household, Mom's 18 year old cat (pics later) not as pretty as buckeye's cat but a very easy, friendly, slow moving cat. We adopter him after mom died last week, it was a rough week but things are getting better. Mom wanted to stay in her house till she died and she was able to. She had a normal morning, fed the cat, had breakfast, regular good visit with the visiting nurse, waved at the Mailman through the window, Then died at the mailbox.
Kitty and I are sitting in our screened-in patio watching the sun rise.

In middle school the boys went to home ec and the girls went to shop. I don't know what the girls learned but we learned how to make pizza, to sew on a button and to run a sewing machine. Real life skills that I use to this day.

56 to start this morning, going to upper 70’s ! Clear skies and lower humidity, so looks to be a pleasant day ! Grandkids are leaving later this morning, so good travel weather for them !

Buppies, no ride on tractor but let my son and DIL take the Ranger out with the kids for a ride, they had a ball !

I'm writing from Deer Isle Maine. We made it! The trip was a grind. My wife decided that we should break the trip into two days. Good thing. We ran into blasting on 78 just over the Jersey line that shut the road for half an hour. Then there was a bad accident just before the Connecticut line. Seems like rush hour in Connecticut starts at noon on Friday. The 6 hour trip took over 9 hours. Thank goodness we found a double space at the hotel where we could park with the boat. We left the hotel at 7 the next morning and traffic was surprisingly heavy. We were glad to get north of Portland. 95 in Maine is very good and the service areas were better than most. The 2006 Tundra did the job. It is a funny thing, when it was new it was deluxe but now it seems plain jane.

62F here now and the fog is starting to clear. Neighbors say it has been raining for a month. We had Mexican last night which we ate on the beach. It will probably take us a couple of day to decompress.

I must be doing something wrong. Took me over half a day to clean off my Zero turn and then do 350/400 hour maintenance tasks...seems like the lube part takes forever.

My Exmark Lazer amazingly only has two grease fittings. It’s been very easy to work on. I bought it used with a tired engine, and after a season to prove itself, I put a new engine on it. That only took a couple of hours, it’s really well engineered and constructed.

73 with a high under 85. Another gorgeous, sunny day.

Yesterday started with getting the speaker completed before it was time to load up for the show.

It was a lot of work, I’m too old to be a roadie. We had to provide the full PA and lighting as well as our individual “stuff”. It was about 1am when I crawled into bed, but we got the truck unloaded as well, so not too bad when you consider that we used to have to play until 2am and then load out. But I was younger then….
At any rate the show went well, we got several inquiries on future bookings from the audience. The Transit Connect worked out great, I might have to borrow it from my wife periodically.

Today will be a slow day, no chores planned, I am planning to go over to the RC club field, I’ll bring something to fly, but it’s really a social event for me, I like checking out the other planes and learning from the other builders, as electric power is new to me, but obviously the way to go.

Thanks. I have one on my grease gun now...am able to reach it fine...it just won't accept any grease...big blob quickly forms around the zerk. The zerk is on the rear universal joint on the drive shaft.

What I meant was an extended flexible line that screws into the existing zerk fitting hole and then comes out somewhere on the mower that is more accessible to reach with the grease gun, so like an extended line from that fitting ! Of course I imagine that you would need to anchor the end of the line after doing that ! Just a thought !

Off to BIL house for SIL birthday party

Got Dogwood cleaned up, seems a branch from a tulip poplar fell and mashed it.
Changed headlight bulb on Jeep, but did not fix the problem. So HID ballast on order. This means I have to removed the whole bumper, grill and headlight assembly to fix. Typical cost for a mechanic to do $1200, so I bought a ballast for $110 and now need an afternoon to install.
Bird path, did cement patch repairs and it looks a lot better, also got first coat of blue paint on bowl. The bowl was badly cracked and had pitting, looks a lot better now.
Did not get time to work on bench, and won't today.
My son is going with his friend on a pontoon boat, should be fun as his first time on that type of boat.
Crape Myrtle suckers trimmed back and some more weeds pulled.
Town was still hopping after 10pm last night when I picked my son up from work.

Don - our condolences- glad your mom could live the way she wanted to right up to the end.

My father got back from his fishing trip up in Canada and went straight back to SD, He was supposed to stop by my aunts house but seems to have forgot and never called her.
Well, at least he made it home ok. He did catch one pike, so his average for a week of fishing hasn't changed.

After dropping son off at work, took the dog to walk around peddlars village, they launched 2 hot air balloons from a field not far away.

Looks like twin trunks, but the one on the right is a large branch which fell far enough to splatter the dogwood tree, the tree was quite healthy until this happened.

Pole saw, chipper, gorilla cart and lawn tractor made quick work of the tree and branch. Need to clean up the drainage trench, this is the upper half of the sceptic mound and did not get damaged.

My sympathy Don.
My MIL just passed at 98 and a half. Broke her hip with a fall in the kitchen at her home. Had surgery. Complications set in. Died in the Sanctuary Hospice a month later. Coincidentally her mother died of a fall, broken hip and complications about 80 years ago. I am now planning a bubble wrap set of coveralls for my wife.
