41 going up to 62 and the sun will be out.
Friday night saw Seinfeld at the Met in Philly, was ok, wife was happy. I was in too much pain and Saturday was no better so stop taking new medicine. Yesterday I started feeling a bit better but still pretty out of it, now back to original problem.

Did get one more board up before sons friends came over to practice yesterday. Was pretty out of it and dropper the sheetrock on my foot, it certainly does weigh 70 pounds, ouch. Just bruised though, as was my ego.

Sorry to hear about your friend Drew

back to work,
Be well

Tire shop called early saying the camper tires were in. So I took the tires in to tire shop 2 at a time in the subaru. I used a couple spare tires I bought once for my other trailer, to hold the camper temporary while I had each pair changed. They were quick, took the young man about 10 minutes to get the first 2 done, I said I'd be back later. Went home, and looked like the Dukes of Hazzard changing those tires around, course more like Jesse Duke. Went back with the other pair, and another quick turn around. I tipped him. I have never tipped a guy changing my tires before, but he was so quick. If I had taken the 2 china bombs to costco to change, it would have been hours waiting for each pair.
camper is now sitting on 4 new Goodyear tires, and the china bombs were returned to costco. I know the Girl in the costco tire shop, she used to play baseball in Rec league with my oldest son many years ago. And the girl at the costco gas pump gave me a big hug in front of everyone, also a longtime friend... Even found my wife who happened to be in Costco the same time I took the tires back, so I hunted her down using the FindMy app on my phone, and helped her shop. Glad to have that job done. These were original tires on the camper almost 12 years old. tread looked like new, but cracking on the sides.
The new 20 ton bottle jack i bought from amazon last week was a real help. And the new gravel parking pad made it nice.
Do you jack the camper up so the tires have no weight on them during winter?

Sounds like a very reasoned approach RS. Save money.

If I can pull the rebuild off successfully, the money saved will go towards paying for the Cycle Stop Valve and the Cycle Sensor.

Those together are around $475.

A new well pump last time around was almost $1100 ... probably more now.

RS, my sears water softner just needed new gasket in the valve mechanism, wasn't real hard to replace.

(y)

Watching some YouTubes on valve rebuilding demystified it for me.

Got the line to the brine tank, drain line, line from the brine valve to the brine injector, and both supply lines disconnected.

Softener now moved out from the wall to where I can get to it.

Next will be to remove the valve body from the resin tank.

On mine, the valve is just a bunch of in and out ports, and a motor turns a plate that opens and closes different ports to make up the different cycles. There is a gasket in there that seals them all from each other, it wears out and then ports leak across each other. Usually just a new seal is all that's needed. The other major item is to replace the resin beads, but do they really go bad. Really the only reason they go bad is if they aren't getting cleaned in the flush cycle.
My manual has a nice breakdown of exactly what each cycle does.

My back was really hurting today doing the tire changing. got a heating pad on it now. When I opened the back of the subaru to get the last pair of tires out, Snagglepuss had jumped in and went to sleep on a blanket in the back seat. I had the blanket to wrap the costco return tires, to keep the seat clean.

Light rain and 56F. It felt colder this afternoon.
This morning I cut the lawn at the house. I decided to use the bag since the oak leaves don't mulch that well. I should have put the hi lift blades on the EGO but the new mulching blades did ok. I think the EGO likes sharp blades. This afternoon I thought I would get a jump on the grass at the farm which I mowed last Thursday but it needed it again today. Still leaving clipping in the tall places.
The farmers around us are cutting corn. The soybeans at the farm are showing just a touch of yellow.
Yesterday was country fall fest down at the park at the bottom of the hill. I never recognize the names if the performers. I guess they are up and comers. I would have been cold sitting out on the grass but going by the pictures in the paper the fans were enjoying the show. It has gotten expensive. It used to be free but it is $20 now and they charge for parking.

Right.

There is a gasket in there that seals them all from each other, it wears out and then ports leak across each other.

Ours has multiple seals and spacers in the valve body to isolate the various ports:

And an epoxy-coated brass piston on a rod that the motor actuates to switch from one port to another:

Think that o-ring (above) is what seals the valve to prevent water leakage.

Brine valve assembly:

Usually just a new seal is all that's needed.

Yes ... they can go bad ... depending ...

Chlorine in the water can make them go bad ... although that's not really a problem here for us since our water in un-chlorinated ... unless we shock the well and then don't run it with the softener on bypass to clean the chlorine out of the well before sending it through the softener.

The other thing is iron, which we do have.

Apparently it can build up on the resin beads so that they become less functional over time at removing hardness.

One of the hacks I've read about to handle that is to get some Iron Out and mix it up in some water. Opinions vary as to whether to pour in the brine tank and recharge or pull the valve on the resin tank and dump it directly in, let it sit for 24 hours and then run a recharge.

My manual has a nice breakdown of exactly what each cycle does.

Same here - goes over all the cycles and tells how to set the softener up initially, troubleshooting, etc.

Was able to confirm that what we have is the older 2500 valve, not the 2510.

OK, all you airplane experts (those with the transponder/radar tracking apps). I just took the dog for a walk and saw something which makes me nervous.

Directly above me (Greene, IA 50636), at 8:10 central time: a line of lights (I'm assuming military planes), heading due east, spaced evenly about 2? miles apart, way up in the sky (30k + feet - hard to tell at night). No sound (but they're combines in the area, which would drown it out anyway). The lights disappeared directly overhead, and there were no red/green wing lights, or any under body flashings. I watched about 30 or more bright lights - slowly (speed is hard for me to guess) move west to east and vanish once they were overhead.

What the heck did I just see?

Maybe starlink satellites, there was a launch today.
I'm hoping this is what I witnessed. Scary thoughts - like here comes a war...
Image I just grabbed from the web - yep, looked like these:

45°F and cloudy this morning, got up to 67° today.

Taking a work trip to Minneapolis for an electronics exhibit and conference (SMTA), along with the Production Manager from our other Illinois facility (the guy I replaced at the main facility). Be there tomorrow morning, then flying back Wednesday afternoon. Short trip, but kind of looking forward to seeing what the surface mount equipment industry has to offer these days. Never been to Minnesota either, so I can add another city and state to my list.

Posting via Starlink as well, BEF, and still liking it.

Good evening, gents.
