Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

60.1F going to mid-70s rained overnight, tapering off now, clearing later.

Got the logs offloaded at the woodlot but did not get any milling done, we got a later start up there and didn’t have the time to get going on that. We loaded up more firewood and returned home, that will get unloaded shortly…

Show was great, lots of good stories to go with the music.

Harry Update: Trainer was doing some tracking exercises, he does well with them but is getting confused with when he is supposed to track (pulling at leash is ok) and when he is supposed to show good walking manners. So we told her to nix tracking, it is more important to have him be civilized and also more amenable to potential off-leash reliability.

Tonight we are going to a haunted hayride - we went to it last year and they did a really good job.

The man we bought our tractor from passed away. 65 years old. Farmer/rancher and local Board of Ed employee (bus driver & maintenance). Very sad.

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe blessed day!

Good Morning Guys,
46 to start going to 54 ! Cloudy and a bit dark, looks like rain will be arriving shortly !

Mostly, staples should have come out yesterday but looks like I will need to go to our local ER to have it done since my primary care Dr won’t do it ! 😳

Thomas, I get the same thing from my wife ! I work 8 to 12 hours a week this time of year, I think that’s not much and the extra cash is nice !

PopG, thanks for explaining the altitudes of flying and cabin pressures ! I did think that most passenger jets flew at 35,0000 !

All have a blessed and safe day! 🙏

Good Morning
It’s 48 and raining, neither is going to change much throughout the day.

Yesterday, both speakers got completed, one went to FedEx to go to Tulsa, the other just left this morning with its new owner to go back to Fredericksburg, VA.
Got the oil changed in the old Prius, still uncertain what to do with it, but I’m thinking I really don’t need it. We have 5 vehicles for the two of us, which is more than we need or I want to insure, and I only have room for 4 of them inside. It will make a great car for someone.

Son came up and flew RC just before sunset, I watched briefly, but had to clean up. We did play music, and made it an early night.

Today I will probably try to fit the sheepskin seat covers in the new Prius. It has white seats, probably not a great choice for me, so I got Black sheepskins that are allegedly custom fit. We will see how good of a job they did.

Not a lot else planned for the day, but I’ve got at least a week’s worth of cleanup in the shop. It’s a casualty of overlapping projects accumulated mess. Some is just trash and scrap, some is tools and supplies that need to migrate back to where they belong.

Good Morning!!!! 62F @ 6:00AM. Mostly cloudy. High 77F. Winds light and variable.
So much for catching the solar eclipse...
Altitude must explain why Fat Tire Ale tastes so bad....
My taste buds, which aren't the same these days, tell me that they changed Fat Tire Ale a few years ago by adding more hops to the brew. Instead of the slightly sweet, nutty flavor I used to enjoy, now it tastes bitter, like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. "They" ruined Newcastle Brown the same way. Yuck. Stay out of trouble while you're under that car, OK?

CalFire has lifted the burn ban, but now require a permit until they declare an official end to the wildfire season. I filled out the application online yesterday. It was free, but I expect a call from the local fire station sometime in the next week or so to arrange for an on site inspection. There's only one burn pile left, and I just might leave it as is. But there is plenty of other wood I'd like to clean up with one or more burns.

Did a little welding on the 14' trailer yesterday for the safety chains. Had just enough reach with the power cord on the GMA welder to reach. Spent the rest of the afternoon trying to find a workable setting for the weight distributing hitch. Got close, so hope to finish that today. Then get the tie down anchors installed to finish with the trailer.

Not sure what I'll get into after that, but there are plenty of "opportunities" available.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

The @##&ing HopHeads have ruined a good portion of the microbrewery world…. I recently had an Imperial Stout from a local brewery and it was friggin HOPPY!

51°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 60° today. Windy here today, too.

Glad you weren't hurt Buppies.

Eddie and Harvey are a couple of good guys. Condolences to them and their families.

Some nice pics here, as usual. No offense, Scotty, but yours isn't one of them. That hurts just looking at it.

Good morning, gents.

I remember when I retired…
all those things that I said “I’ll get to them when I have a little more free time” came creeping out of the shadows with bats and chains and tire irons and said “REMEMBER US?”

🤣😂🤣
A have a dungeon(barn) full of those haunting me already, and I'm years away from retirement.

Amen! I used to like a good hoppy beer every now and then, but not so much any more. And some of the hoppiest are brewed on the upper west coast.

I went to TxDon's mother's estate sale. I bought a smattering of a few things.

I CAN SEE THE ECLIPSE. It is about 30% coverage so far, at 11:25am central

And I've been meaning to tell you guyz up north, to please keep sharing your fall foliage pics. I really enjoy them, and the wifey too!

So what looks normal and maybe a bit mundane to youz guyz, looks great to us down here to us who have a bare minimum of fall colors.

52 and cloudy @ 12:00, only calling for a high of 53F with on and off showers later.

LWS says rain started last night around 02:00 total accumulation so far is 1.45" so a pretty good soaking.

Current soil temp is 53F with a 24 hour average of 56.4F.

Ten Day is looking worse, now only 2 days with highs in the 60's ... :(

Got roughly half of the strawberry plants that are already planted in the ground weeded, trimmed, and fertilized yesterday.

Crowns seem to have good development and are well-rooted ... which I checked by grabbing hold of them and giving them a good tug ... ;)

While replacing one plant I discovered one hole (in the weed block fabric) where the deer had pulled the strawberry plant and chipmunks or squirrels had dug down and buried a half dozen kernels of whole corn ... 🤬

Woman was over feeding neighbor's cat when I got up (neighbor is out of state on vacation)

Cycle Sensor and Cycle Stop Valve has made it to the local UPS terminal in Wadsworth.

Since it's chilly and wet outside, likely back to work on the softener rebuild.

Hope everyone is having a decent Saturday ... (y)

69°F and no rain. Another beautiful but dry day ahead.

A couple more hours to finish mowing my farm end. Glad I decided to do a week early. A bit quicker and looks a bit nicer.

Probably take rest of day for energy conservation

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

So I've enjoyed Shiner Bock since its inception. I still love it. While in Colorado back in late 2000 or early 2001, I turned my buddy on to it up in Greeley. Later in the trip, while on the slopes at Winterpark, there's a nice bar/coffee place about halfway up the slopes. We stopped in and had my first Fat Tire, and it was my last. I did manage to finish it, but just barely, and that's saying a lot from a guy who has had his share of barley pops. Funny thing is, with no real intention, I hardly drink anymore. I don't like having to pay the piper the next day. Maybe a beer once every few weeks....or 3 if I'm out fishing on the saltwater bays.

I just took 3 ibuprofen, to help ward off yesterday's mechanic work. I need to get back out there. It is almost ready to pull the tranny out. I forgot to order cv axle seals... I'm going to wait and see what happens, using the old ones. It is not hard to pull the wheel off, and unbolt the strut and pop in new ones later. I just pray the new throwout bearing I install holds up. I've had them go bad after 10 minutes. ARGH!

51 and raining. .14" so far.
Good breakfast with the gang this morning. Wife did not attend. picked up 3 months of meds on way home, then just paying bills and entering in quicken to see if I can still stay retired. 😂 Commented to my wife about a chickfila shake now costing over $5, and I got the "Let me see your breakfast receipt" and "Look how much you saved with me not going"......
Stopped at TSC for grass seed, but they only have 50# bags. I just need a little. Would have been nice to have it down before this rain.
Nothing else planned. Lots of cleaning needs done, but might go hide in the basement. Need to cancel Dish Network.

Good Afternoon Kyle,
Im with Ron on colors here in Ct, Vermont was another story ! We were in Vt early last week for a few days and I thought the colors were close to peak. But here in Ct, things are going much slower ! Here is a shot looking out are back kitchen window into the back yard. The only real color is the yellow from the birch trees. Most of the oaks back there do not provide much in the way of nice colors !

I believe the Vermont colors have come and gone unfortunately !

Have a great afternoon !

Got timer removed from from backing plate.

Bolts that hold the control valve drive motor currently soaking.

Woman fixed me a couple of BLT's ... with the promise of more later once the new package of bacon thaws ...

Pulled the original well log drilling report off the ODNR website dated 5-15-68.

5" casing sunk to 41'

0' to 33' - sand and clay

33' to 111' - sandstone

Test rate: 15 gpm

Duration of test: 1 hour

Drawn Down: 20'

Static level - depth to water: 61'

Located another invoice from June of 1995 where the pump was replaced.

It lists the well as being 120' total depth with 75' static level producing 12 gpm.

Going to check the ODNR website and pull some other drilling reports in the immediate area and check the depth on those.
