that boat was rode hard and put away wet
those older aluminum boats were sure durable
you could probably make it look like new with a pressure washer
if that was your thing...

I saw lots of those old motors when I was in the boat museum in Cedarville MI.
I wish I had taken more pictures.
Bet it would be fun to restore them to good running condition.

time for breakfast. Will make an omelette of some sort.
will chop up my last tomato to put in it. And maybe some diced green peppers from the garden.

Good Morning all.
It’s 48 with a high of 55 under partly cloudy, but dry skies for today.
Yesterday was a steady but light rain, pretty raw outside. We got a total of less than an inch, so it won’t be too soggy out there today. Supposed to be breezy all day, that will help dry things up as well.

I made some progress cleaning up in the shop yesterday, had a few distractions, like a leak in the toilet in the master bath in the house. First issue was that with the addition of wonder board and tile to the floor years ago, there wasn’t enough clearance to turn the elliptical handle on the shut off valve. That was solved by removing the handle, and working the valve stem with a small slip joint pliers. The leak was easy, just had to tighten the tank to bowl bolts, and it stopped dripping. I don’t think that I’m going to make a project out of extending the feed line and replace the shutoff with a modern 1/4 turn valve unless I replace the toilet at some time. Problem solved (for now).

Loaded some grain and pine shavings into the barn early before rain started.

Got the seat covers installed, I am definitely not the flexible youth that I once was. Pretty much had to stand on my head to get the straps secured under the seats, hands did not fit where I forced them to go either. Wife came in to the shop and told me I was a bloody mess. I knew that my hands and arms were a bit torn up, but didn’t realize my head was bleeding as well. I’m envious of those with a good head of hair. The seat covers look and feel great. I didn’t take a picture, maybe later today.

Went to the Gyro stand at the Q Mart (farmers market in Quakertown) for lunch, walked through the army-navy / surplus store, saw some interesting stuff, but left it there. I almost bought some 5/16 stainless eye screws for inventory, but left empty handed.

Realized that the new iPhone was missing some pictures and all of the music that I had on the old one. Apparently iCloud backup doesn’t include stuff that was synched with iTunes. I really don’t use iTunes any more, but still had the old computer, and was able to synch the new phone and got everything back.

Today I’m off to the Vineyard to pick up the college kids and return them to St. Lawrence University. That should be the extent of my “work” for the rest of the month. Maybe by the time I get home the wind will have died down enough to fly RC models.

Still finding neat stuff in dark corners. Found this ammo box in the barn.

Good morning, the low is 40 and the high temperature will get to 46°F. Wind NNW 11 gusting to 22 mph. 30% chance of showers or light rain.
A good day to take off to the city.

I drop Junior off at the hospital for a cat scan. I go to the place where I get my cheap fuel (cheap by my standards) and meet up with a friend for a chin wag and wait for a phone call to pick him up.
I will let you all know what I paid for gas when I get back.

I had an old green Johnson 25 hp motor I think it was an RD15, I restored it to original. Three pulls cold and it was running, warm one half hearted pull from a 15 year old and it was running. Made most of the onlookers at the city dock in Port Perry gawk. After making the outside look pretty I worked on the tuneup. Every spring the boat got waxed and the motor tuned up. Fresh high test gas went in as well. I would put marina gas in it IF and only if I was caught between a rock and a hard place. I had 2 gas cans and never left home unless both of them were full.

Have a safe day all

always tastes better when you've grown some of the ingredients
used a tiny bit of poblano pepper I grew, instead of sweet pepper.
Doesn't seem hot, but has a delayed reaction, can feel top of head get hot.
But not sweating so know not too hot.
sure tasted good

enough water in the ditch I may go take my floating solar water fountain and put it out there

Don, I eyeballed the outboard motor, and gave a gentle tug on the starter....it seems locked up. Do you have any idea if there were problems the last time it ran? There is no telling if parts are available for it. I believe they were made by Eska?

Another problem now in Texas, is if you buy an old boat and motor, they both have to have titles and there is almost no way to get a title (at least that is what a friend is telling me). Without titles, you can't register them to use on public waters.

I would have taken some photos of some of the items, but out of respect I did not.

Don, I noticed a multitude of old style hand drills with auger type bits. Maybe 20 or more? I presume they were used to drill out fence posts, but I'm just wondering if your Dad had an affinity to these types of drills? They also had some hand drills that used beveled gears like the egg beaters.

Ibuprofen got the manual tranny out of the car. Popgadget, don't feel bad about not "having it" like we used to. I was telling the wife, that turning wrenches is "both rewarding and satisfying, but sometimes you want to throw a wrench across the room too." This tight fitting engine provided a lot of the latter. It will be a pain to put it back in none the less. Right now, I have to figure out how to pull the 3 dowel pins out of the flywheel to install into the new flywheel. The clutch friction plate was worn to the rivets on one side, but did not leave marks on flywheel side. Most of the videos I've watched, left the flywheel in and just put in the new clutch and pressure plate.

A local welding shop has one of those that someone is installing the drive unit from a PWC into the stern —- THAT will be a wild ride! It is awkward to stop into but maybe I will try and get a photo of it…

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

Overslept, scrabling for church, checking in later!

Looks like the Yellow jackets are done for. Only a hole in the ground remains and the Wasps are are also done for with the last application of dusting in the wall

this should not be too hard
one end goes under existing front sway bar bracket.
other end goes on bracket set at straight ahead.
very heavy, appears well made, and this is lightest duty of their models.

on trucks like Bill's, this thing keeps you in control, you hope, when you blow a front tire.
for me, helps the most to avoid sway caused by wind.

bright blue sky out, just like after a good rain. Not so warm though, haven't been in a rush to get out there....

Good Morning (resumed)!

Haunted Hayride was a lot of fun - they refined a few things from last year and it ran much smoother. Last years total raised for the local animal shelter was about $3000, they expect it to be higher this year.

afyer finishing breakfast, and a couple housekeeping tasks, the latest load of firewood will be unloaded and stacked, then a trip up to woodlot with dog and load up some more wood, and if I remember I will pull out a couple more sheets of the reclaimed roof tin to cover the ricks at home.

i saw a YouTube video about making a sweet potato wine — anyone ever have anything like that? It sounds very interesting and fairly easy— and sweet potatoes are cheaper than grapes! Not to mention a lot easier to grow…

i hope everyone has a happy healthy safe blessed day!

Morning all, rain is gone, sun is out 56 going up to 61.
First fire in the fireplace last night.

Got some more strips up and measured out for new panels, looks like 14 to go with whole and cut adding up quite a bit.

Off to drop off stuff at Choir carwash along with son.

Can't drink at all for now, nor eat most things.

Tomorrow they take out old boiler, so today will be reclearing the way out since wife moved stuff around again.

Be well,

Good morning. A slightly rainy day today, so I won’t be doing much outside.

Did get the docks disconnected and floated over to the swim dock for the winter, which is a big accomplishment and takes a lot off of my mind.

Some fall leaf photos for those Texans wanting.

Docks done and all ready for winter:

And a real nice sunset with the hound dog last night down on the fixed dock. There were also four ducks tooling around, and he was barking at them like crazy!

Good Morning Guys,
Ct, 45 going to 58 ! Sunny skies now but we had rain pretty much all day yesterday!

Went to the local hospital ER this morning to have the staples in my head removed ! Hardly felt them being removed ! My wife says the wound looks good, so I will take her word for it ! Kind of mad at my primary care physician for not willing to remove the staples ! I had to sit in the ER for almost 1 1/2 hours waiting !

Ron, beautiful Cardinal shot !

Taking my daily walk I noticed some people had their wood stoves running ! A definite chill in the air !

Kathleen and I along with another couple we are friends with will be leaving on Nov 1st thru the 15 th to go to the Dominican Republic, Punta Cana, so a lot of beach days in our future! Started packing already ! We try to do 1 medium suitcase each, and one backpack carry on.

Looks like a good day to pull the Model A out and park in the front yard ! 😉

All have a safe and blessed day !

Good Morning!!!! 64F @ 9:00AM. Partly cloudy. High 84F. Winds light and variable.
Still no rain in the 10-day.

Found a set up for the trailer hitch that seems to work, but one of the chain hangers is covering the VIN plate. Kinda hard to pass a VIN inspection with that, so I'll need to take a wrench along when I go. Also got the tie down anchors installed. Dodge couldn't supply the bolts for installing the new sway bar on the van, so I might have to wait for a town run to get that mounted.

Already had a call from the local fire station to arrange for an inspection visit, so have to call them back when I get a chance. Nice they're not wasting any time.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend...
