Good morning!!!!

I will try Drew sugar level yesterday went down to 55 for a bit oh joy
Prayers Buppies and wifey.

Good morning! Low of 58°, going up to 92°, sunny.
Rinse and repeat for the next 7 days.....

Last evening, we were watching PBS and suddenly heard this weird deep metal sounding BUUNNGG!
..... got up and looked out the windows, doors, no movement, nothing apparently out of place.....but, it was dark....
This morning, found this:
View attachment 918685View attachment 918686
Very strange. All the screws except for one are still in the metal tabs. And for it to fall leaning up against the legs.... this was the rehabbed bench a couple years ago... I guess the screws I used were too short.....
Will attempt repair today. Needs more stain anyway....

RIP, good to hear from you! Sad to read about the plumber. Updated pics of milkhouse?

RNG, try to stay cool. Hopefully everything lines up. Never tried to use trimmer string in such a manner.... hey... it works....

Drew, those Rpods are nice. Prices have sure gone up. The tankless heaters are a nice feature. Probably will upgrade ours eventually. The son has one in his. Sure beats a 6 gal HW......

Paul, nice progress on the addition. Coming together very well.

Trimmer heads won't get here until Monday. The seller took their good 'ol time shipping them out (2 day delay), otherwise would have them.

Daughter is supposed to be coming down today to swap her Jeep for the GS pickup. Not sure if they will make it.
Seemed to maintain temp yesterday, went slowly up to operating temp at idle, maintained temp while driving a few miles. Then, back at idle, no issue. As soon as it was turned off ---- overflow tank boiling and overflowed!
I am thinking blown head gasket.... your collective thoughts?

Need to troubleshoot / fix the back gate today. It stopped latching and will only swing closed 90% of the way on it's own (spring closure). Maybe spring is tired....

Time is a wastin' .... better get my motivation in line....

Everyone have a great day!

BEFORE you start it up check the oil, if it is milky then for sure a head gasket
After you warm it up and the thermostat opens take the rad cap off and see if there is any bubbling in the rad. If none of the above then it is most likely a stuck thermostat. They have been known to only open a little bit when they go bad.

Daughter made it here. No overheating on the way down. As soon as she turned it off.... boiling over from the reservoir.

Now that it has been driven 250 miles, I'm going to recheck the oil for milkyness.
I am leaning towards cracked head.....

More research and testing needed.

Yeah, it could be.... the heater core definitely is plugged. I tried flushing the system last summer, don't see too much corrosion in the radiator. But, that doesn't mean it's not clogged....

Just going to check one thing at a time, as no rush.
I was going to say to turn the heater on wide open to help get it down the road...but if it's clogged, that tells me the radiator is clogged too probably. If a hot compression check, or even better, a leak down test can be ran to help determine if there is a cracked head or head gasket.
Sorry about all the vehicle problems. With labor rates well above $100/hour, kids would do well to hold their father's flashlights and learn.

Cars are too darn high. Houses too.

HOT!
Screenshot 2024-08-18 174042.jpg

Too hot for the ambition fairy to show up this afternoon.

Don, be careful in this heat.

David, how about an analog solution? Amazon.com : self watering globes

Son had first scrimmage against a much bigger football team Friday. He had some decent plays and some he wished he could have a "do over" on many others.

Great pic's yall. Loved the tractor show pics Engineer.

M7040, can you call the game people to see if they would have an interest in the dead doe?

Big school starts tomorrow! A fresh batch of young, hopeful to be engineers. I'm excited.

Went to our Pastor buddy's church this AM. His family is still up north visiting family. We asked him to lunch and he accepted. Had a great lunch.

Plenty of chores to do. Many awaiting some $$$ for parts/etc.

Popgadget, I've often considered that they should offer sheetrock with a permanent fascia, and screw holes predrilled. That way if you can live with the "steam punk" look of uncovered screws, a person could easily remove sheets as needed to get behind the wall without all the drama of tape and painting repairs....

I see California is going to try and crack down on smash and grab, and vehicle thefts. I won't be holding my breath until I see them make some prison camps out in the desert to house the organized crime hoodlums.

Thomas, I use a 5' cheater bar on a 3/4" breaker bar to get my bush hog's blade bolts loose.

Prayers for our team, our nation, Ukraine and ******. We need some peace and hostage returns.

Good Evening,
Ct, terrible flash flooding in our area this afternoon and evening ! We have lost some key roads that are really essential for traffic! Tomorrow will prove very challenging to many commuters!

Kyle, I’m totally with you on that score ! Their governor talks a good game but I doubt it will make a significant difference! 😉

Hope all have a good evening! 🙏

Good (Monday) morning. Overnight Low of 2.7C and it's presently 12.4C, partly cloudy & calm.

A lovely Vietnam Veteran's Day parade/ceremony, yesterday after Church. There were several such events around the State. The annual 'date' is in honour of the 'Battle of Long Tan' Battle of Long Tan - Wikipedia

This evening I've got a Parrish Council meeting @ 1700. Otherwise;

That's about it, take care all.

Wx changed and got another couple hours mowing. Actually only 2 small, non critical areas left.

Did get seeds into gutter garden. Different approach than in past so we’ll see how it works. As for irrigation, decided on soaker hose approach with a master timer. Will also put a manual valve on each line so I can increase or reduce individual flow once I find master setting.

Not much talk, but pictures as it progressed. Here’s what it looks like now.

Boiler and loops are all filled and deaerated , circulator and zone valves tested, boiler converted to propane, but hasn’t been fired up yet.

Your system is set up better than mine. I like that copper manifold. Are you on city water or well water. I ask because I needed to get a spin down filter for my water feeding g the heater. I’m on well water and whilenit is clear and tastes great it appears to have somenparticulates some times. I have a large spindown filter in the closed loop and in the boiler feed …. My unit is a combi and does domestic hot water also.

Scotty, I hope you have a back way out of there! That is horrible.

We have an overpass here where a truckdriver tried to drive under with a tall excavator load and he messed up the concrete bridge girders. For months, traffic has been having to make U turn detours and such to not drive over the bridge. I wonder if the truckdriver even got legally punished for being such a Ding dong?

He probably did get a fine out of it. Over height, most likely.

Good morning,
64° now, highs in the mid 70’s with showers and scattered boomers today. Dew points upper 60’s to low 70’s, just can’t seem to shake the humidity. Good thing is fall is only 34 days away 👍.

Yesterday’s rain brought 0.31” and I’m getting to like not having to water the garden every day lol. The drought map has us listed as only “abnormally dry“ now.

I did manage a bit of ambition and got the new monitor installed, cables neatened up and the desk cleaned off. The Mrs picked up a couple of roast beef sandwiches for supper, that and sliced up cukes an tomatoes.
Not sure what today will bring, probably just putter around.

Enjoy your day everyone
Stay safe and healthy

Turkeys have found a new place to roost.

Everyone stay safe and well.

Good Morning All.

66 heading to 85...then nice cool down coming.

Had more bad news...my Mom was taken to the ER at 3am Saturday with congestive heart failure. So, have been making daily trips to Virginia Beach to visit. They have used diuretics to help remove the fluid around her lungs/heart. She has improved and they have moved her from the ER to the cardiac care unit, so she finally got some sleep yesterday. I think the hospital staff are angels.

My nephew visited, and at 44 is still surfing. The surfers are in heaven from the big waves that Hurricane Ernesto is pumping in from out in the Atlantic. The East Coast Surfing Championship is there next weekend, and he is entered.

I've got some catching up to do.
